"Are you still there, Nathan?" robert told Nathan.
Nathan and Jessica quickly run to his desk, trying to get closer to the microphone to return Robert's call.
"I'm still here!" reply Nathan.
"Good, I hesitated to call you. I thought you were home." Robert said again.
"Yes, I really want to go home? But unfortunately working overtime was part of my contract" Nathan replied as he moved towards his computer. "Is there anything you need right now?"
"Look, I've brought Marie with me now. And he's in a safe place" Robert told the young man. "Now can you find my position and location on the radar? I activated my tracker a moment ago."
"Yes! I'll try to track you right now" Nathan said, typing something on his keyboard. "Can I know where you're going?"
"Yes, right now I'm somewhere where Dimitri will easily find me" Robert replied to Nathan.
"What?" a shrill voice coming from Jessica was now heard.
The girl screamed and she immediately leaned around Nathan to yell at her father through a speaker.
"Are you crazy, dad? That guy named Dimitri could kill you later. You can't let him find your position like that. Do you want to die?"
"Jessica you have to trust me a hundred percent in this, because it's dad's job." Robert tried to tell his daughter. "And listen, Jessica! You should stay with Nathan. It'll be a lot safer for you."
"No," Jessica replied, shaking her head even though she knew her father would never see her. "Dad! I can't let you go be-"
"Jessica listen to me!" cut Robert, "Dad's been doing this dangerous thing for years. And I know exactly what you're doing right now."
"But father-"
"Dad asked you to stay there, Jessie. Nathan's gonna take care of you there." Robert assured the girl. "Nathan, do you hear me? I'm gonna get Jessica to you, take care of her. You're in charge of his safety."
"Yes, okay! It seems that I can't resist, I have no choice" Nathan muttered in his easel tone. Then he realized something. "But, Mr. Robert, I don't think you're calling here just for that, I think it's for some reason?"
"Yes, your guess is correct. Right now I do need to make a trace of the phone call so that Dimitri can track my whereabouts later. I want him to follow in my footsteps." Robert told Nathan about his plan.
"But are you sure he'll follow you, Mr. Robert?" nathan asked doubtfully.
"Will Marie be safe?" ask Nathan again.
"Currently Marie is my top priority. Dimitri's after him and I'm gonna protect him as much as I can." Robert convinced Nathan.
Hearing that, while leaning closer to the microphone, Nathan then whispered. "Well, but I don't think this plan will work out completely. What if Dimitri doesn't follow you unless he's looking for Marie?"
"I'm not entirely sure either, indeed," Robert said. "But this is the only way that Dimitri will change his target. If he knew my position he would have looked for me first. After he came to me then I defeated him."
Nathan lifted his cup of coffee, put it to his lips and sipped his coffee. He sighed slowly then nodded his head steadily.
"Alright, Mr.Robert. Although the percentage of success of this plan is very small, but I'll try to keep doing it."
"Good," Robert said proudly. "And another one. My message to you please take care of my daughter."
"I'm not a child, Dad," Jessica growled at her father, who kept telling Nathan to look after her. "I'm an adult and can take care of myself."
"Yes, and it's not that dad doesn't know that." Robert. He then took a slow breath. "You just do what I told you, Jessica. You stay there with Nathan. I'll be right back for you."
"Will you promise me that? You're really going back here? Meet me again?" Jessica wondered, her voice even sounded trembling as she said it.
Across the phone, Robert gulped his coarse saliva while continuing to drive his car down the city streets. He thought about how many times he had done something dangerous like this before? This is his job. He always worked well in this job. Very good even, without leaving the slightest gap of failure.
But somehow now he started to feel doubt. Why did he start doubting his own abilities like this?
"Dad!" jessica cried again because the father who never answered her question.
"Yes" said Robert. "Dad will talk to you later, Jessica."
"Dad I-" her speech was cut off by the sound of a disconnected phone connection. Jessica groaned in annoyance and clenched her hands tightly.
Nathan who saw her tried to calm the girl's irritation.
"You need to calm down." Nathan and Jessica nodded.
