Chapter 88's

Luffy and most of his crew are currently trapped in a prison cell made entirely of sea stone. Luffy is currently sitting on the bench inside the cell along with the marine captain of Louge Town, Captain Smoker. Luffy's crew, on the other hand, had a very different reaction to being trapped inside a prison, as opposed to their captain.

Nami, Usopp, and Johnny panic while trying to make the bars open with their bare hands, while Nojiko and Yosaku sit in a corner of the cell believing that Luffy has a plan to get them out of there, while Zoro sat on the floor with his back leaning against the bars, sleeping without caring about everything around him.

While the crew had their own reactions while trapped in confinement, Luffy and Smoker sat on the bench making a 60 cm gap between them, staring out at the cell, at the man sitting on the large chair with the table in front of him, who was staring at all of them with a satisfied smile on his face.

"Can you all stop fighting," said Crocodile arrogantly, looking at the trapped pirates. "you will all die here together, so what if you stop fighting and accept your fate" he said before starting to laugh out loud.

The three members of Luffy's crew who were panicking earlier started sweating and immediately curled up together before they all shouted.

"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" the three of them shouted, causing Luffy's brows to twitch slightly.

"Can you all shut up!" Luffy shouted silencing the three of them and woke Zoro up. "I told you to calm down, didn't I?" added Luffy.

"Your pathetic cries don't help the situation at all" Smoker added, exhaling puffs of smoke from the cigars in his mouth.

"Monkey D's. Luffy," Crocodile said as he held up Luffy's wanted poster. "To think that Marine gave you a bounty of 100 million berries. This is really ridiculous!" he said before he started laughing.

"You're not even worth 1 million, let alone 100 million," Crocodile said arrogantly while laughing, which caused Luffy to grin.

"You are really a lowly pirate as I imagined," Smoker said as he stared at Crocodile.

"Geez, you're just like a stray dog, just like I heard, Smoker, too" replied Crocodile, staring at Smoker. "Unlike your boss, you never really believed I was on your side, did you?" he asked with a satisfied smile on his face.

"And of course, you're right" Corocodile added, then got up from his chair and started walking towards the prison cell, letting the straw hats see him well. He is a tall man with a wide chest, broad shoulders, muscular arms and legs, and a thick neck.

She has pale skin and black hair along the nape, which is kept drizzled backwards, although strands of her hair tend to fall in front of her face during combat.

Crocodile had a variety of battle wounds, most notably a long sewn scar at the base of his nose that stretched across his face and a large hook made of a strong gold alloy replaced his left hand. His eyes looked deep and heavy.

"I have a feeling that you will die honorably in the line of duty. I'll be happy to tell the government that you died fighting bravely against the ruthless Straw Hat Pirates" Crocodile said, causing Luffy to chuckle.

"That's a believable story, I'll admit it," Luffy added with a laugh that caused Smoker to growl.

"I've been wanting to see you for a long time, Straw Hat," said Crocodile turning his attention to Luffy.

"Geez, it seems like I have a fan," Luffy said calmly.

"Although your existence is only publicly known, I heard you've caused quite a stir with the Marine, the government, and the wider community as well," Crocodile said causing Luffy to raise his eyebrows in curiosity, saying, the rest of the crew looked confused.

"Wait, you mean to say that you don't know?" Smoker asked as he looked at Luffy. The whole pirate straw hat looked at the marine captain in confusion written on their faces.

"Know what?" Luffy asked. Crocodile walked back to his desk and picked up the newspaper before walking back to the cell and showing it to the group. When everyone looked at the newspaper, their eyes opened very wide except for Luffy, surprised at what they saw. Luffy just grinned looking at the front page.

On the front page of the newspaper was a picture of Luffy standing on the execution stage in Louge Town with both hands spread wide while a beam of sunlight pierced through the sky filled with black clouds and illuminated him like the light from heaven.

As if the picture wasn't surprising enough, the newspaper's headline just made the picture seem even more shocking. The title reads: "THE NEXT KING OF THE PIRATE?" Zoro looked at the photo and immediately remembered seeing the scene live in Logue Town while another Luffy crew had only seen this for the first time.

"I guess you remember doing that?" Crocodile asked as he folded the newspaper.

"That was about a month ago and come to think of it, I haven't read a newspaper since we entered the Grand Line," Luffy replied with a shrug of his shoulder.

"Well, since then at least every week there's been news about you" Crocodile told Luffy.

"From you slaughtering an entire city of bounty hunters until you overthrow a king in Drum Kingdom," Crocodile said, causing Luffy to show a serious expression on his face and narrow his eyes slightly.

'That means someone is following us, ' Luffy thought to himself. Thinking of the possibility about him being followed by someone all along and he was unaware of it, made Luffy unsettled.

He had to find this guy, because he couldn't run an Underground crime syndicate and let someone follow him like this. It's like looking for trouble.

Luffy put this matter to the back of his mind first, choosing to deal with it later.

"But enough about you, Straw Hat," said Crocodile, taking Luffy out of his mind. "It appears that our guest of honor has arrived" Crocodile said, causing Luffy to raise an eyebrow.

"Guest of honor?" Nami asked in confusion written all over her face. Just when Nami asked that question, the door above the stairs, behind Crocodile opened and then Vivi and Ms appeared. All Sunday's.

"Crocodiles!" Shouted Vivi from the top of the stairs.

"Vivi !? "Nami and Nojiko shouted in shock while Luffy just sat there with a flat expression on his face.

"Receive my honor, Vivi the princess of Alabasta kingdom," Crocodile said as she walked and sat in her previous chair. "I commend you for having managed to avoid our Assassins to this extent" he added with satisfaction.

"You don't know how far I'm going to go just to watch you die, Mr. 0," Vivi added with an angry expression on her face. "I wish you were dead when you were born, monster!" Vivi shouted before leaping forward to attack Crocodile with her peacock knife.

Luffy saw this and sighed at the princess's foolish attempt to kill the shichibukai. "This country would be peaceful if it weren't for you!" he yelled.

"Peasock String Slasher!" vivi shouted as she drew her peacock knife forward and sliced off Crocodile's head and the back of the chair.
