It had been a few days since Luffy and the crew left the Twin Capes and began their journey to the first island on the Grand Line. They were currently sailing through the calm waters while snow fell from above.
Luffy was sitting on his throne despite the cold temperatures, drinking whiskey while Zoro on the right slept in the cold.
Nami and Nojiko can't stand the cold, so the two of them were wrapped in winter clothes and were in a warmer kitchen with two people Luffy allowed to travel with them to Whiskey Peak.
Usopp and Johnny are on the main deck making snowmen while Sanji and Yosaku shovel snow off the ship. Luffy stared at Usopp and Johnny who went from building a snowman to fighting snowballs. Luffy sighed before getting an idea and smirked.
"Hey, Usopp! Johnny!" Luffy called out to attract their attention. "If you two are going to play around at least do it while practicing," he said causing them to stare at him with a puzzled face.
"What do you mean, brother Luffy?" Johnny asked while looking at Luffy.
"I mean, do your little snowball fight with your eyes closed" he said before sipping his drink.
"This will help train your true observation," he said causing the two of them to smile before running into the kitchen and picking up their blindfolds, before returning out and continuing their snowball fight.
Luffy then gulped down his drink again and looked up at the sky. As he looked up, lightning flashed above and thunder boomed over their heads. The voice was loud enough to make everyone stop doing what they were doing and stare at Luffy.
"Don't look at me, it's an act of nature" he said causing his crew to return to do what they did. Luffy then realized that the wind was starting to tighten and the calm snowfall suddenly turned into a blizzard.
He sighed and grabbed into his coat and took out a golden-colored square pendant and attached to a golden chain that was connected to the inside of his coat.
He used his thumb to open the locket and looked inside. The inside of the pendant was divided into two parts. The two halves had a log pose in them, but it was two different-looking log poses.
The top has a single log pose similar to the one Nami bought in Louge town, while the bottom has three logs of poses grouped together [Like a Jack Sparrow compass]. Luffy stared at the top of the compass and growled.
"Is something wrong, Captain?" Zoro asked from next to Luffy. Luffy closed the box and put it back on his coat before he answered Zoro.
"It looks like my navigator is useless" he said before walking to the head of the upper deck and yelling at the crew. "JUST LISTEN TO EVERYTHING!" Luffy shouted out asking for everyone's attention.
"STOP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND TURN THIS SHIP THE OTHER WAY AROUND!" Luffy shouted confusing them all. Nami and Nojiko heard what Luffy said and came out of the kitchen to see why they needed to turn around.
"Luffy," said Nami to attract her attention. "Why do we need to turn around?" she asked. Luffy looked at her with an emotionless expression on his face before he replied.
"well, Miss Navigator, if you do your job, you'll notice that we're sailing in the opposite direction" Luffy said calmly causing all their eyes to widen.
"Now, if you all finish being surprised, I would highly recommend you all ... TURN THIS SHIP NOW!" Luffy shouted letting his anger appear a little before he left and sat down on his throne and poured him a glass of whiskey before he downed it all.
Luffy lowered his head and watched everyone panic and spread out as the weather started to change again. Sanji and Nojiko stand guard at the wheel, Johnny and Yosaku tying the screen, Usopp running around repairing the damage while Nami shouts orders.
Luffy had been thinking about going there and helping Nami, but he decided otherwise because he wanted Nami to get that experience. It was then that Luffy realized that his first mate was nowhere to be seen among this chaos.
Luffy looked to the last place he saw Zoro and saw the swordsman who was next to his right was sleeping causing Luffy's eyebrows to twitch in annoyance.
At that moment Zoro decided to wake up. He got up and wriggled while yawning before walking towards Luffy and speaking.
"Hey captain," he said, getting Luffy's attention. "Something has been bothering me for some time," he said causing Luffy to raise his eyebrows.
"What's bothering you?" Luffy asked as he got up from his throne.
"It's about the two people we brought in at the Twin Capes," he said, causing Luffy to narrow his eyes.
"What's wrong with them?" Luffy asked. He had been suspicious of the two ever since he met them. The only reason he agreed to take them to their destination was so that he could rob the island.
"They're names" said Zoro confusing Luffy. "I'm pretty sure I've heard names like them before, but I don't remember when or where," he said causing Luffy to nod his head before he answered.
"Observe them" he said causing Zoro to nod his head. Luffy then walked up to Zoro's back and pulled him from the back of his neck and dragged him towards the rest of the crew.
"Captain! What are you doing !? "Zoro yelled /quired as he was dragged away. Luffy did not answer her but instead he looked towards Nami before she shouted at Nami.
"Hey, Nami!" Luffy shouted, getting his attention. Luffy then throws Zoro from the upper deck to the main deck where nami is before he speaks. "Our enchanting vice captain slept through the noise earlier," Luffy said with a malicious grin before he walked back to his throne while the ship was filled with Zoro's cries.
Just as Luffy was about to sit down, Johnny's voice caused Luffy to stop and turn around.
"The island ahead!" Johnny shouted from the front of the ship and caught everyone's attention. Everyone looked in front of them and saw an island visible behind the fog.
"So, it's Whiskey Peak," Sanji said as he lit a new cigarette.
"The landscape is not like any island I've ever seen" Nojiko said.
"Our first trip on the Grand Line is over" Luffy said as he walked next to the crew and stared at the island. The island itself has a strange shape, there are some mountains that look like giant cacti.
"Hey, look," Nami said as she pointed forward. "There is a waterway that seems to be heading to the shoreline" he said as they began sailing inland.
"Umm, I'm guessing that there's a possibility of monsters out there," Usopp said in a frightened voice.
"Well, that's a possibility, after all this is the Grand Line" Zoro said. Luffy then looked towards the bounty hunter duo and spoke.
"You go take two of our prisoners, we can use them as prisoners" he said, causing them both to run to take the man and the woman. As the ship sailed further into the waterway, a thick fog appeared causing everyone to be on guard.
When Johnny and Yosaku returned with the man and woman, they put the two of them in front of Luffy and went to stand behind him. Luffy glanced at the man and woman before turning his attention back to the area around him.
Although he could not see anyone, he could feel the conditions around him clearly.
