Chapter 72's

*Flashback*

"Catch her!" a man shouted with a machete in his hand as he ran after a young boy wearing a familiar straw hat.

"He is the devil!" a woman shouted while chasing the boy with a stick.

"Kill him or he'll kill us!" shouted a man.

"Damn it!"

"The monster!"

"Weird Man!" they shouted as they chased the boy through the streets of the village. The boy ran for his life with tears in his eyes and shouted loudly.

He knew that all he needed to do was return to their camp and he would be safe but he started to think that he would not make it. Looking straight ahead, he saw his mentor and crew running towards him. After recognizing his mentor, the boy shouted his name.

"SHANNE!" he shouted before he made one big leap into the arm that was none other than the Red-Haired Shanks.

"Luffy!" Shanks cried out in panic as he caught his student. Luffy then began to cry on Shanks' chest loudly.

Shanks hugged him tightly before seeing the crowd chasing after Luffy with cold and emotionless gazes stopping them in their tracks before he turned to his crew and spoke. "Done this," he said coldly before he turned around and walked away.

"Aye, Captain," Ben Beckman replied before turning to the people chasing Luffy. The last thing Luffy heard before falling asleep was the sound of gunshots and shouts filling the air.

** Flashback End **

Luffy then opened his eyes and poured himself a drink before he looked at Chopper and spoke.

"So, have you ever thought of becoming a pirate?" Luffy asked before he downed a glass of whiskey.

"Have you slipped and hit your head on the ice or something?" Chopper asked as he retreated from Luffy. "Look, I don't want to be a pirate" he said.

"Oh, come on, you're gonna be a great pirate. We can go on a lot of adventures and you can see the world on the high seas" Luffy said, trying to convince the little deer. "We'll be good friends and my crew will like you" Luffy said as he took a few steps forward towards Chopper which caused him to run.

"Why do I want to be friends with you !?" Chopper yells / asks as he runs away from Luffy causing Luffy to smile before he goes after the little deer.

"haha! Come back here! Let's be friends!" Luffy said as he chased the deer through the castle.

"AHHH! Doctorine save me from this madman!" Shouted Chopper as he ran to the room where nami was resting, Luffy was right behind her, still chasing after her.

"Come, let's make friends and go on a lot of adventures!" Luffy said as he chased the chopper around the room.

Nojiko and Sanji heard the commotion and went into the room with a plate of food to see what happened, only to see their captain act so childishly chasing the chibi deer around the room with a big smile on his face.

"Umm what, what's going on?" Nojiko asked with a confused expression on her face.

"This little one will join our crew and become our doctor" he said, causing them both to see the little deer.

"I didn't say that, he lied!" Shouting Chopper.

"Yes, you said it," Luffy's tease caused the deer to run out of the room.

"you know, I don't appreciate you trying to kidnap my students" Dr. Kureha caused Luffy to laugh before she stood up straight and took off her captain's coat and placed it in front of the fireplace to warm up the body.

"I didn't know I needed your permission to recruit someone to join my crew" Luffy said as he sat by Nami's bedside.

"I don't think so, but it's not easy to do" he said before putting a bottle of plum sake in his mouth and drinking it.

"I know," said Luffy to his surprise. "How is he doing?" he asked while looking at Nami.

"His temperature dropped a few degrees and he was out of any danger for now, but he still needed at least three days of rest before the bacteria left his body," he said it caused Luffy and the others to smile and nod.

"That's great news" Sanji said before he walked over to Luffy and handed him a plate of food. "This is it, captain," he said causing Luffy to take the plate.

"Why is that deer so afraid of us?" Nojiko asked as she looked towards Dr. Kureha, who causes him to swallow a sip of her plum sake before she starts telling them all the Chopper stories.

She tells them about her being born with a blue nose and being treated like a stranger and how she ate the devil fruit that made her more of a stranger not only for her own kind, but for humans too.

Kureha then tells them about Chopper's relationship with the only human who doesn't see him as a monster, a man named Dr. Hirsute.

He told them of his dream to make cherry blossoms bloom on Drum island to try to save the country and cure all medical ailments. But unfortunately, the fairy tale of two outcasts does not have a happy ending.

"I taught her everything I know, including medicine," she said in a sad voice while Luffy and Sanji looked on with grim faces on their faces and Nojiko wiped the tears from her eyes.

Luffy didn't realize it but they sat there listening to the doctor's story for about three hours. Luffy was about to say something but Chopper's panicked voice and his Observation Haki stopped him.

"Doctorin! Doctrine!" Chopper shouted as he ran into the room while Luffy jumped to his feet and looked out the window.

"So that bastard survived," Luffy said as he looked down at the three individuals standing in front of the castle.

"Doctorine, there's a problem!" Chopper said in the form of a medium-sized deer. "Wapol is back" he said angrily in his voice.

"really?" Kureha replied as she stood up and walked out the door with Chopper behind her. Luffy let out a serious look on his face before he walked into the fireplace, took his coat and put it on before he started walking to the door.

"Promise you to come with me" he said causing Sanji to nod and follow Luffy. "Nojiko, you stay here and protect Nami," he said causing her to nod and take out three of his staff.

Sanji and Luffy then went downstairs with a serious face. When they arrive outside, they see Chopper and Dr. Kureha spoke to Wapol and his two men. Luffy decided not to waste time and rambling by cutting off the conversation.

"Now, I don't mean to interrupt but Wapol is mine," Luffy said as he walked between Kureha and Chopper with a flat expression on his face and his captain's coat fluttering in the wind.

"He owes me a blow for damaging my ship" Luffy said as thunderclouds began to form in the sky and electric blue sparks began to appear all over his body.

"How dare you!" yelled the man dressed as a clown. "How dare you talk to Wapol like he's a commoner, he's a king!" he shouted causing Luffy to laugh before he walked towards them.

"I'm sorry" Luffy said critically. "Then I'll give him a king-size punch," Luffy said before turning to Chopper and speaking. "Chopper," said Luffy caught his eye. "You are not a monster .. Let me show you what a monster really is," Luffy said in a cold voice as he looked at Wapol with thunder booming in the sky.

Luffy then turned his body into lightning and teleported right in front of Wapol with his right hand covered with Haki before he submerged him into Wapol's stomach, that instantly sent him flying upwards about fifty feet into the sky.

Luffy then appeared to the right of Wapol when he was in the air and gave a haki kick and lightning to the middle of his body, sending him straight to the ground with a terrifying speed.

When Wapol hit the ground, the impact created a five-meter-wide crater with the badly battered Wapol in the center of the crater.

"Gazole-sama!" the two men shouted as they watched their leader get beat up so easily.

"And this is for Dr. Hilarity and the people of this country!" Luffy shouted before he started descending towards the crater at lightning speed with both of his legs coated with Haki.

Everyone watching only heard what Luffy said, then sooner than a blink of an eye, Luffy disappeared and reappeared in the crater, causing a sudden flick, with both of his feet stepping on Wapol like a spear that caused the terrifying sound of crumbling ribs could be heard by everyone.

"He ... he ... had just defeated Wapol as if it was nothing," Chopper said as he watched in awe at Luffy's strength.

"I don't know why he asked me to come here if he was planning on having fun alone" Sanji said furiously.

"That's amazing!" Chopper.

"you're stupid! Wapol is a member of the World Government! They're gonna kill you for this!" yell at the clown. Luffy looked at the two of them with cold eyes before he pointed his middle finger and index finger at the two of them causing the two lightning ropes to come out and wrapped around their necks before Luffy grabbed the rope and pulled it while increasing its electrical voltage, it caused both of their heads to fly from their bodies.

"I don't care" Luffy said coldly as their headless body fell to the ground. He then started walking back to Chopper and his friend before he stopped and turned around and looked at Wapol's already disfigured body.

Luffy then turned around and started running towards Wapol's body with his right leg coated in lightning before he gave a lightning kick to Wapol unconscious and sent him flying out of the island.

[Wapol is not dead]

Luffy then turned around and walked towards Sanji again. As he walked past Dr. Kureha, he stopped and spoke.

"This country/island is now under my protection," he said before continuing to walk to the castle.
