Chapter 145's

As they walked about five meters from the beach, they all saw Kuzan sitting on the grass staring at them with a confused expression on his face.

"What's Kuzan, too tired to go back to Marine Headquarters?" Luffy asked in a nonchalant tone.

"You're as troublesome as your grandfather, Monkey D. Luffy," Kuzan said made Luffy slightly flinch upon hearing his eccentric grandfather. "The two of you are very difficult to guess," he said making Luffy chuckle in a slightly nervous tone.

"Grandfather Luffy?" Nami asked in a curious tone.

"In hindsight, we really don't know anything about the Luffy family," Nojiko said as they all began to stare at their captain.

"Your captain has a very complicated family tree," Kuzan said with a sigh. "Especially when it comes to his mother," he said increasing the curiosity of Luffy's crew. As he mentioned Luffy's mother, loud thunder echoed overhead, and thunder clouds began to form in the sky.

"Be careful what you say, Kuzan," said Luffy in a cold tone.

"Anyway, as I said," said Kuzan ignoring Luffy. "Your grandfather helped me, a long time ago. That's why I'm here" he said before looking up and making eye contact with Luffy.

"I want to see you and Nico Robin together with my own eyes," he said before a serious expression appeared on his face as he looked at Luffy. "After some thought, maybe I should kill you," he added causing Luffy's crew to raise their vigilance.

"Come on, is that any way to treat the granddaughter of the man who helped you?" Luffy asked mockingly as the stormy wind started blowing over their heads.

"WG may not think too much about your crew, but they consider you a threat in the same league as the Four Yonkou," he said causing Luffy's crew to feel dumbfounded.

"But I know better than that. Your numbers may be few but with the people you've gathered here, this crew is likely to become a serious problem in the future especially with you as their captain," said Kuzan while grinning excitedly.

"Considering the circumstances regarding your initial bounty, the actions you have taken, and the overall speed of your progress; I have fought villains all my life, but thinking about how you will develop scares me," Kuzan acknowledged as he continued to stare at Luffy.

"It's nice to know we can instill the fear of the Gods into the heart of an Admiral" Luffy said clearly not taking Kuzan seriously.

"You know who he is, not Luffy?" Kuzan asked as he turned his attention to Robin.

"I know very well who he is and what he has done" Luffy replied as he tightened his grip on his golden scepter. "He is a member of my crew and he is a friend. So, if you want to get it, you have to kill me," said Luffy, making his crew smile.

"He has lied, cheated, and betrayed every organization he has joined," Kuzan said as he slowly stood up. "None member has ever escaped except him" Kuzan added, warming up to his neck.

"What makes you think that she won't do the same to you?" Kuzan asked. It was a valid question in his mind but Luffy did not care.

"Because with me he doesn't have to fear you or the government" Luffy said with a grin.

"I've already shown him that I can destroy the buster call and I suspect that I will show him that I can also protect him from an Admiral," he said before a loud thunder echoed throughout the sky and lightning struck overhead.

"You know I can't just let you leave the island" Admiral said as he narrowed his eyes.

"And you know I can't let you touch my crew" Luffy replied before he extended his right hand to grab his captain's coat and took it off. He then walked up behind Robin and placed her on his shoulder.

He then walked towards Nami and put a straw hat on her head. "You all go back to the ship and get as far away from the island as possible!" Luffy commanded as he walked and stood not far from Kuzan.

"But Luffy..." Nami started with a worried voice.

"You guys are all strong," Luffy said with a sigh. "But you guys aren't yet at this level" Luffy honestly said causing all the crew to look down towards the ground. Zoro clenched his fists in frustration over the fact that he was still too weak to stand by his captain's side.

"Log pose should point to Water 7, go there. I'll catch up!" Luffy said as he gestured to leave. The crew then ran towards the ship.

"You don't really think I'm gonna let them go, do you?" Kuzan said before raising his right hand. Five arrows made of ice began to form in front of him.

However, before he could fire it, a bolt of lightning descended from the sky and struck him in the middle of his head with enough force to shatter his upper body.

Kuzan's entire upper body broke into pieces of ice which caused the five arrows to shatter as well.

"I'm your opponent," Luffy said in a cold voice as he watched Kuzan's body re-form from the waist up. Thanks to observations Haki Luffy was able to find out that his crew ran through the forest almost to the ship.

When Kuzan was fully reformed, the right half of his hair and body were covered in ice and Luffy could see his breathing every time he exhaled.

"That's a little painful," Kuzan commented as he and Luffy stared at each other for a few minutes while the temperature in the surrounding area began to drop, which was not the case, and the overhead lightning storm intensified causing lightning to strike randomly all over.

Parts of the ocean and parts of the island began to freeze. Kuzan then bent down and grabbed a hand full of grass from the ground before throwing it aside and exhaling cold air over it, making a long sword made of ice.

"Ice Sabre!" he said, holding a sword in one hand. His hand then turned black with his haki armament along with his sword. Seeing this, Luffy raised his staff in front of him and channeled his haki armament into it turning the golden staff black as well.

Without any warning, the two of them then dashed towards each other at medium speed with the weapons they were carrying preparing to clash. When they were about a meter away from each other, they swung their weapons at each other.

When the black staff touched the black sword, a loud explosion occurred which created a powerful shock wave that shook the entire island. Luffy and Kuzan stared at each other as they engaged in a battle of strength.

Seeing that this was not heading anywhere, the two of them pushed each other and made a distance between themselves. Stopping about five meters from each other, Kuzan dropped the sword and extended his right hand towards Luffy.

"Ice Block: Bird Beak!" the thrill caused an ice sculpture in the form of a bird to emerge from his hand and dart towards Luffy. The bird was at least fifteen meters wide and six meters high.

Lifting up his wand and directing it at the incoming ice bird, Luffy began to channel most of the Electricity into his wand.

"Dragon Thunder 100,000,000 Volts!" luffy exclaimed, instantly a huge dragon-shaped electrical energy emerged from the end of the stick and rushed towards the approaching ice bird.

A giant dragon made of electricity ravaged the ground as it darted towards the ice bird, while the ice bird Kuzan froze the ground as it darted towards the dragon. When the two attacks collided, a giant explosion occurred, which sent a violent tremor felt as far as the outside of the island.

**with Crew**

The crew managed to return safely to the ship, but they were forced to avoid several lightning strikes. They were all currently standing on the deck staring at the island as the ship sailed away from the island in the direction indicated by the pose log.

The waves of waters around the island are very bumpy and ferocious causing the ship to oscillate like a paper ship on water. They were a bit away from the island but could still feel the effects of the clashes that were taking place.

"I hope Luffy is okay" said the worried Chopper. Before anyone could say anything to convince the little deer, they all saw a giant bird made of ice and a giant dragon made of electricity attacking each other.

When the two creatures collide, it creates a massive ice tower and electricity that seems to struggle to dominate. Then suddenly the entire ocean around them shook as the shockwave from the clash reached them.

"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Usopp asked as he felt the ocean tremble.

"When the gods are at war, the world itself is trembling in fear" Robin said as she stared at the tower made of Electricity and Ice.

**with Luffy**

Luffy watched as his lightning dragon slowly defeated Kuzan's bird and walked towards Admiral who easily jumped to the left dodging Luffy's attack. As soon as Kuzan stepped aside and let the dragon crash and burst onto the ground, he turned his attention to where Luffy was standing.

When he looked over there, he saw that Luffy was already gone.

"Searching me?" Luffy asked from behind Kuzan. Turning his head slightly, Kuzan saw Luffy standing behind him with his haki-coated fist pulled backwards.

Luffy teleported and appeared above Kuzan as he flew towards the trees, Luffy coated his feet with haki and lowered his heels to the midsection of the tall Admiral's body.

"Storm Breakers!" Luffy shouted as he slammed his heels into Kuzan's stomach at lightning speed sending the Admiral crashing down to the ground with such a powerful force that it created a small crater upon impact.

Landing on the ground beside the crater, Luffy looked down and looked at Kuzan who was lying down while returning Luffy's gaze.

"You added the haki at the last second before I kicked you," Luffy said as he looked at Admiral lying on the ground.

"Yup, that last strike will break some ribs if I don't do it" Kuzan said in a lazy tone while remaining on the ground. "But even so, you can't keep your head down" Kuzan said as he narrowed his eyes.

"Time Ice Capsules!" Kuzan's exclamation caused a cold wave to surge from his body, freezing the ground around and moving towards Luffy. Dilating his eyes slightly, Luffy did not react in time as the ice waves reached the bottom of his feet.

The ice froze the bottom of his feet and quickly began to work by itself over Luffy's body until he completely froze in a block of ice. Sighing, Kuzan slowly stood up and cracked his joints.

"I doubt the attack was enough to actually kill you," he said as he stared at the frozen Luffy only to see the smoky ice block and slowly melt causing him to raise an eyebrow with a hint of confusion.

It didn't take more than three seconds for the ice to melt completely, revealing Luffy standing there perfectly fine, with a bored expression on his face.

"That's cold," Luffy commented as he looked at Kuzan. The two stared at each other for a few minutes before Kuzan made his first move.

"Ice Nails!" kuzan exclaimed as he lifted one foot into the air and stomped to the ground causing several ice spikes to explode from the ground around Luffy stabbing him in all directions.

Luffy just stood there perfectly fine, completely unperturbed by the fact that he had about six ice spikes stuck in the middle of his body. He then calmly walked through the ice spikes as if they were not there.

"Fighting with logia users is always annoying," Kuzan said as he scratched his head which made Luffy chuckle at her.

"I think it's time we got a little more serious" Luffy said as lightning began to strike all over his body.

"It will be painful but fine," Kuzan said in a lethargic tone as the temperature in the area grew lower and the surrounding ground began to turn into ice. Luffy then raised his hand to the sky and spoke.

"Judgment!" luffy exclaimed, causing a giant pillar of lightning to descend from the sky in the direction where Kuzan was standing. Seeing him in danger, the Admiral leapt back about six meters, avoiding the giant pillar that fell to the ground where he was standing before.

The moment the electric pillar touched the ground, it destroyed everything in the surrounding area while at the same time making a hole three meters wide on the ground.

As the pillar disappeared, Kuzan saw a three-meter-wide hole that seemed to pierce through the island with molten rock around the lip of the hole.

Turning his attention to Luffy, the Admiral knelt down and pressed both of his palms against the ground and let out smoke.

"Arctic Freeze!" kuzan exclaimed, lowering the temperature even further which caused the land all over the island to freeze as well as the grass and all the plants there.

Kuzan then stood up and raised both his hands towards Luffy.

"Glacier Fall!" he yelled freeze the moisture of the water in the air above Luffy creating a giant block of ice that began to fall towards Luffy. Clenching his hands, Luffy lifted his arms back overlaying them with electricity before punching upwards.

"El Thor!" Luffy shouted while punching upwards, releasing all the electrical energy he had accumulated in his hand, which then enveloped the entire block of ice that fell towards him causing the ice to evaporate in an instant.

Luffy was ready to turn around and say something arrogant to Kuzan but his true observation warned of the danger behind him. Turning his head slightly to look back, he saw Kuzan rise up from the frozen island with a cold expression on his face and a haki-lined fist already pointed towards Luffy.

Similar to what Luffy did to her, Kuzan delivers a haki-coated punch to Luffy's face that leaves him bouncing and slipping along the ice.

Trying to stop himself from falling, Luffy positioned himself properly and stabbed his stick into the ice to stop his slipping body.

As soon as he stopped, he narrowed his eyes and looked at Kuzan before he pulled the stick out of the ice and turned his body into lightning and dashed towards Kuzan at the speed of light.

Kuzan covered both of his hands with Haki and raised them in front of his face in time to block the haki kick from Luffy, but the kick had too much power behind it.

It made Admiral slip 15 meters along the ice. As Admiral stared at his opponent, the only thing he saw was a black lightning strike coming towards him.

Knowing that the attack was too close and he could not dodge it completely, Kuzan turned his body slightly to the right allowing the lightning to hit the side of his stomach. Blood gushed out from the wound and fell on the ice.

Placing one hand over the wound, Kuzan froze it and stopped the bleeding temporarily.

"Instilling the haki in the lightning," Kuzan said as he looked at Luffy who was calmly walking towards him. "A pretty deadly combo" he added.

"I'm a deadly pirate" Luffy said as he walked towards the injured Admiral.

"It would be a big deal if you were serious about killing me," Kuzan said with a sigh making Luffy laugh.

"I'll be in trouble too if you're serious about arresting me" Luffy said with a laugh as he stopped in front of the Admiral. "I think we should end this now before one of us dies" Luffy added, ruffling his hair.

"I agree," Kuzan said lazily as he looked around at the storm clouds. "You feel it, don't you?" Kuzan suddenly asked in a serious voice while staring at Luffy.

"Yes, ‘big storm’ is coming," replied Luffy as he narrowed his eyes and looked out to sea. "The effect will be felt all over the world" he added, making Kuzan nod. "Peace that strives to be protected by the Government is coming to an end" he said with a sigh.

"It's only been four years since the ITU incident and we've been heading for another one" Kuzan said with a sigh while Luffy grinned to recall the incident. "And I have a hunch that like four years ago you're going to be at the center of all this trouble" he added, causing Luffy to laugh.

"Hey, in remembrance of the beautiful past," Luffy said as he summoned a cloud of lightning descending from the sky. "I have to see my crew. See you," said Luffy as he jumped into the lightning cloud.

"We may meet again sooner than you think" Kuzan replied, causing Luffy to raise an eyebrow. Deciding not to heed Kuzan's words, Luffy and a cloud of lightning flew into the sky leaving the Admiral alone on the island.

Luffy then reached into his pocket and took out a small piece of paper, it was his Vivre card. He had a big cut for his card on the ship inside the thundercloud on the ship so the small piece he had in his hand pointed towards the larger piece on the ship.

Following the direction of the card, Luffy found his ship and crew in no time. Turning his body into lightning, he teleported himself onto the deck of the ship to scare his crew.

"Did you miss me?" Luffy asked with a grin on his face as he suddenly appeared on the deck of the ship.

"LUFFY!" most of his crew shouted except for Zoro and Robin who were smiling looking at their captain. Chopper was the first to launch himself into Luffy with tears streaming down his face. Soon everyone ran towards their captain.

"Did you win, Luffy?" Usopp asked as he looked at Luffy.

"There are no winners or losers because none of us are serious about killing each other" Luffy replied as he reached out and took his hat off Nami's head and placed it back on his head.

"So Aokiji is still alive?!" Nami asked, sounding a little scared.

"Yup, I love Kuzan, I love it" Luffy said before breaking out of Chopper's arms and walking towards Robin wearing his captain's coat. "You don't have to worry about him" Luffy said as he took off his coat.

"Okay, captain!" robin said with a small smile.

"Then, let's go to Water 7!" Luffy ordered before heading for his monastic throne.

"AYE, CAPTAIN!" His crew shouted back.
