Chapter 13 Gecko Island's

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami are currently traveling with Luffy's clouds towards the Gecko Islands after cashing in on Buggy's Bounty and his crew. Luffy then splits the money between the three of them, with Zoro getting 8 million for defeating Cabaji, Nami getting 8 million for defeating a man Luffy just knew named Mohji the Beast Tamer, Nami, and Luffy got 15 million for defeating Buggy.

Luffy lets Nami keep half of the treasure he found on Buggy's ship while Luffy forces her to leave the remaining half to the townspeople.

Luffy and his colleagues are about 10 km from the North Coast of the island of Gecko and fly at a speed of about 64 km/h. As soon as the island was sighted, Zoro turned towards Luffy, who sat in his chair and spoke.

"Remind me again why we went to this island," Zoro said, drawing the attention of Nami and Luffy. Luffy looked at her and sighed before replying.

"As I said before, we'll go to the island hopefully to recruit a sniper" Luffy said. Nami then looked at him with raised eyebrows before she spoke.

"Hopefully?" Nami asked. Luffy nodded his head before speaking.

"I don't know if he wants to join. Aghh, I just wish he was a sniper like his father and wanted to be a pirate" Luffy said before he pulled out a glass and poured whiskey into it.

take a sip before starting to talk again. "And we will also try to get a ship on the island," Luffy said causing Zoro to nod his head and trust his captain, while Nami had a disappointed face visible on his face. He then looked at Luffy and spoke.

"Why do we need a boat?" Nami asked as she placed her hand on the cloud surface, "I mean, this cloud is much better," she said. Luffy looked at her with an emotionless expression on his face before he spoke in a monotonous voice.

"You feel this is a lot better because you're not the one who used the energy to fly these clouds" Luffy said. Nami didn't say anything more after that, she just turned around and faced forward.

After traveling for a few minutes before they finally arrived at the edge of Gecko Island. As they stepped onto the beach, Luffy felt four people hiding on the cliff above them.

"Be careful, we're being watched" Luffy said, drawing the attention of others. Zoro placed his hand on his sword while Nami placed her hand on his side getting ready to pull the stick he had folded and tied to the inside of his thigh.

Luffy who suddenly felt an attack appear immediately pushed Nami and Zoro to allow the attack to penetrate his body. Luffy then looked up to see a teenager standing on a slope with his hands crossed.

"I am Usopp, the leader of the invincible pirate state that rules this island. You stand before a living legend, the most revered pirate who ever lived. I'm the great Captain Usopp!" the teenage boy said it caused Zoro and Nami to sweat during his introduction while Luffy smiled at his antics.

Usopp is a thin, tan-skinned teenager with medium-length black hair, protruding lips, and a long nose. He wore an olive green plaid bandana, a blue and white striped armband on his left arm, a brown canal with a white sash and no shirt underneath. He also had a yellow bag.

"If you dare try to attack this island, my subordinates, 8 million super pirates will destroy you like insects!" Usopp. When he said that a bunch of pirate flags tied with sticks started rising from the bushes on the cliffs that surround the beach.

Luffy raised his eyebrows before he spoke.

"Don't you mean three little kids?" Luffy asked. As Luffy asked that question, Usopp's legs started to shake and sweat ran down his face. From the bushes where the pirate flag was raised, three little children ran out screaming in fear. Usopp turned his head towards the fleeing children and shouted.

"Hey! Where are you going !?" he asked/shouted. Luffy could not help but laugh.

"You have a great crew, Captain Usopp," Luffy said mockingly. In the corner of her eyes, she saw Nami bend over and pick up something before she spoke.

"Pirates use slingshots huh? Now I've seen it all," he said. Usopp was angry when Nami made fun of him using a slingshot. He reached into his pocket and took out a green slingshot before pointing it at Luffy.

"You've seen how great I am with this thing. So, you know I can rival anyone who carries a gun" he said. Luffy looked at her while putting his hands on her hat and tilting his head slightly caused his hat to cast a shadow around his eyes before he spoke in a cold tone.

"Now that you've put your gun on it, do you dare to use it?" Luffy asked causing Usopp to sweat a little. "Weapons are not for threats, they are for action. Are you willing to risk your life for that? Because ..." Luffy stopped before pulling out his own gun and pointed it at Usopp before continuing,

"... I'm ready with that," Luffy finished his dialogue causing Usopp to tremble. However, even though he was completely frightened, he did not drop his catapult, he still pointed it at Luffy.

Luffy smirked before sending a small amount of electricity to the gun so he wouldn't kill Usopp and pull the trigger. Faster than everyone's eyes, a flash of light left the gun and traveled through the air before flying directly into Usopp's catapult and colliding with the pellets (slingshot bullets) he had loaded there, instantly destroy it.

Everyone could only stare at the shattered pellets with their jaws on the floor. Usopp knelt down and looked at Luffy in admiration.

Luffy chuckled slightly before speaking once more, "Good shot right?" he asked making Usopp nod. "Yes, your father taught me how to do it," said Luffy making Usopp's eyes widen before he fell off a cliff that caused Luffy and everyone to sweat.

"You know my father?" Usopp asked as he got up and cleaned himself up. Luffy put his gun back into his gun holster before speaking.

"Why don't we just go to the diner and we can talk there" Luffy said. Usopp nodded before leading Luffy and his crew towards a restaurant/bar called Meshi.

When they reached the bar, everyone ordered food and sat down to eat, while others listened to Luffy tell Usopp about his story of sailing with his father.

It is understandable if Usopp was proud of his father, because his father was a sniper on the Yonko ship. Luffy looked at Usopp and could see that he was proud of his father being a pirate.

After they finished eating, Luffy planned to ask Usopp about where to buy a ship, but before he could speak, Usopp stood up puffing his chest before he started talking.

"I've decided!" Usopp said in a high tone, "One day I will also go on an adventure at sea like my father and become a brave warrior!" Usopp said with an expression of strong determination on his face. Luffy laughed before speaking to her.

"Well what a coincidence, I'm looking for a sniper for my crew. Actually, that's one of the reasons I came to this island," Luffy said, drawing Usopp's attention. "Your father said you'd be a good addition to my crew if you wanted to be a pirate. So, what do you think? Do you want to join my crew and shake up this whole world?" Luffy asked with a grin on his face.

Usopp looked scared and nervous at the thought of joining a pirate crew. He was agitated for a while before finally answering Luffy.

"Umm, can I think about it for a second?" Usopp asked calmly. Luffy simply nodded to answer her. Ussop was about to leave but Luffy's voice stopped him.

"Hey Usopp," said Luffy to his attention, "Do you know where we can buy a ship?" Luffy asked. Usopp placed his index finger against his chin and started to think for a moment before he answered Luffy.

"However, there are no shipyards on the island, if you want to buy a boat, your best option is to check out the mansion on top of that hill," he said as he pointed out the window towards the only big house on the hill. When Nami heard about the mansion, her eyes immediately turned into a Buy sign as she thought of the money that was in the mansion. He looked at Usopp and asked him.

"Who lives in that mansion?" Nami asked. Usopp smiled brightly at her before answering her.

"An orphan girl named Kaya, her parents died three years ago and she's been depressed ever since" Usopp said making Nami look down sadly, "I've been visiting her every day trying to cheer her up since her parents died, and I'm currently heading there right now, so if you want, you can come along, and I'll introduce you," Usopp. Luffy smiled and replied.

"That sounds good, Usopp," Luffy said as he and his crew stood up and followed Usopp out of the restaurant.
