CHAPTER 46 - What Mickey Doesn't Remember
Ryan and Mickey appreciate Lucia's mother by eating the Shell Soup they've prepared. He also asked Arka to eat with him. Slowly Rayn tasted a mouthful, she felt moved. After so many years, this is the first time he can feel the touch of a mother's cooking. Lucia's mother's cooking makes Rayn miss her mother again. He took a deep breath and swallowed slowly and then continued to eat and finish.
“I'm very grateful with your help Son Rayn. Forgive me if it is too presumptuous to ask to meet and trouble you so that you have to come all the way here. I thought that Lucia would come with you to come” said Lucy's mother after cleaning the table and sat down to talk with Rayn and Mickey.
Lucy's mother still doesn't know if Lucia has 2 jobs in town. He only knows that Lucia works at the Cafe and Rayn is the boss of the Cafe where her daughter works. Rayn just said that Lucia couldn't come because there was something she had to do.
“Aibi should not thank you. Aunt's daughter, Lucia, she is a very nice girl. And he did his job well. You don't have to worry, I'll make sure if he'll always be okay” Rayn replied.
Lucy's mother expresses her guilt to her daughter Lucia, as she has not been able to be a good mother. He felt that he was always giving a burden to Lucia so that Lucia could not have the time to pamper herself. Even he saluted his daughter who never complained about the condition of their family.
Lucia's mother began to cry considering the struggle of Lucy so far who had to give up her youth life and dreams for the sake of family. He hopes that someday his daughter can meet a good man who can make her happy.
Lucy's mother said she was planning to match Lucia with her best friend's son. It's just that Lucia still refuses for various reasons and there is no time for an appointment. He made the match because he did not want if Lucia was wrong in choosing a partner. He was afraid that his daughter would be hurt and abandoned.
Hearing that made Rayn start talking. “I think, Aunty should not do it. As Bibi had believed all along if Lucia could take good care of herself. So, Bibi also just can trust if she can wisely make a choice of her life companion. The best choice for Aunt isn't necessarily the best for her. I'm sorry, if I'm so lazy to say it. But, I believe he can find himself the man he loves and sincerely love him” Rayn said.
Ryan looked back at the photo of Lucia hanging on the wall. “He will find a man who will always make him happy and keep him” continued Rayn lirih.
Mickey just gaped at what Rayn had just said. He did not know whether the man he had known for many years was really saying it sincerely or just to please Lucia's mother. Honestly he was flattered, for someone who had never been in a relationship and never even socialized with others like Rayn was able to say that.
Their conversation was over, Lucia's mother left Soup Shell which has always been a favorite of Lucia. She knew Lucia must have missed her Shell Soup so much. He asks Rayn and Mickey to wait for him to prepare.
Mickey got up from his seat, he looked back at Lucia's photo. “What are you thinking?” ask Rayn.
“I just salute her, she grew up to be an amazing girl despite her tough life” said Mickey still looking at Lucia's photo. Do you think I should offer myself in that matchmaking line? Rather he should fall into the hands of a man whose choice is not yet clear his mother” asked Mickey turned to look at Rayn.
“Close your mouth!” rayn commands in a harsh tone.
Mickey laughed amusedly at Rayn's reaction. He deliberately said it to tempt Rayn. “Then, why don't you just be the one who will always make him happy and look after him.” Mickey said with a poetic snob copying Rayn's words to Lucia's mother earlier.
“How long your attitude is getting less and less ” replied Rayn. Mickey just laughed.
“Alright if you refuse” Mickey said. “Arka... How about you?” mickey looked at Arka.
“Why should you involve me Mr Mickey?” ask Arka. Arka's question made Mickey shrink his lips. “You have no sense of humor at all” grumbled Mickey.
“Start?” ask Mickey to Arka. “What do you mean Rayn's already in love with him?” he continued by pointing to Rayn who was still sitting.
"Tell me, what happened at Villa all this time without my knowledge” Mickey orders suspiciously.
Arka just smiled looking at Lucia's photo. “Nothing happened in Villa” replied Arka.
Mickey becomes more curious to see Arka also looks seriously looking at the photo of Lusia. “What's wrong with you two”.
Not until Rayn connected Mickey's talk, Lucia's mother had returned with a stock of mussel soup that he put on the table, he realized if he could not hand it directly to Rayn.
Mickey thinks if Ryan won't take it, then he steps forward to grab it. However, the move was lost to Rayn who had already won the provision first. "I'll give this to your daughter and make sure she'll spend it" Rayn stood up and bowed. “Thank you, we will pamit” he continued.
Mickey gawks in disbelief at what Rayn just did. He stared blankly at Rayn aside and gave her a way out. “Shut your mouth that” orders Rayn past Mickey who still dumbfounded in disbelief.
Along the way Rayn stared at the provisions of the mother Lusia placed next to her sitting. Mickey who was sitting in the front seat turned to look at Rayn. “I'm still curious about what you asked there, something I don't remember? What do you mean?” ask Mickey to Rayn.
“Truly there is nothing I can expect from you. Forget it, anything is not important to you” replied Ryan.
Mickey still thinks hard. “That means something I should remember about that photo. Something..., what is it?” his murmur spoke for itself by crossing his arms.
The one who heard him smiled. “I'm very sure if she is that girl, am I right Mr Rayn?” ask Arka by staying focused driving forward.
“You also remember it turned out” replied Rayn smiling.
Mickey becomes upset, like a fool who doesn't understand what Rayn and Arka are talking about. He refocused himself forward and tried hard to remember what he did not remember.
