CHAPTER 100 - Not Your fault

Everything there becomes increasingly tense as digital information indicates the operation has been completed. Not long after the two doctors who performed the operation came out of the operating room.

"What about the operation?" ask Rayn.

The two doctors just stared at each other with sad faces. Anxiety is increasingly visible on Rayn's face waiting for a response from the Doctor to his question.

"Tell me how he is?" ask Rayn back.

"Rayn, relax" said Reisa.

"The operation went well, but." said a doctor and then held back.

"What's going on? Is she gonna be okay?" cut Kelvin.

Kelvin and Rayn listen to the doctor's explanation that further said if the operation is running smoothly. However, Lucia suffered a shock while undergoing surgery and this happened because Lucia turned out to have an allergy to anesthesia. Lucia fell into a coma, though her condition was no longer critical.

Reisa who heard it was immediately shocked and almost fell unconscious. David swiftly restrained Reisa's body which fell limp with teary eyes. "Lussia.." he said softly.

"What do you mean by this time he's still unconscious?" asked Rayn nervously.

"It takes longer than expected to wake up from anesthesia. We will continue to monitor his condition and try as much as possible" replied the doctor.

Hearing this made Rayn's heart feel like it was being squeezed so hard. He closed his eyes followed by a circle of tears that fell back down his cheeks. He tried his hardest to convince himself that Lucia would be fine and soon awakened.

Doctors transferred Lucia to the Intensive Care Unit and monitored her condition. In the ICU room, Lucia lay in a coma with the help of a special medical device installed on her body. Doctors forbade Rayn and the others from entering the room until Lucia's condition had improved.

With a trembling body Rayn stood staring at the woman she loved inside there fighting alone to survive. Rayn was getting teary-eyed, it was never imagined that she would really lose Lucia.

Day after day, the nurse found Lucia's pupils responding. Although this is a remarkable advance, Doctors say they still need to monitor its progress. It also serves as if Lucia's desire to wake up is as important as it is now.

Lucia's condition makes Rayn's life collapse, which is increasingly difficult for Rayn as she stands in front of Lucia's mother. He hugged and apologized to Lucy's mother. Unfortunately, he couldn't do that. Rayn could only talk to each other sitting at a distance of 1 meter between the two.

"I'm sorry" said Rayn Lirih.

"Why do you have to apologize son, this is all God's will" Mother Lucia replied, staring at Rayn who blamed herself.

"I'm sorry for not being able to protect him, I should have saved him sooner. Even I was too cowardly as her lover" said Rayn who was unable to hold back her tear dam.

Lucia's mother reached out her hand to pat Rayn on the shoulder, but she held him back because she remembered Lucia had said that Rayn had a phobia of touch.

"Son Rayn, don't blame yourself. I believe she'll be around soon. We should be able to be stronger to welcome him later when he realized, do not make him sad" said Ms. Lucia.

After almost a week, Lucia was moved to the HCU. Lucia's body began to show development, but he still needs close supervision from medical personnel because his condition is not aware still can easily be transferred to the ICU again if his condition worsens.

Rayn has been keeping and accompanying Lucia all day since she was transferred to the HCU. He came every day and continued with Lucia until he himself did not pay attention to his health. Rayn helps Lucia wipe her body and occasionally she recites a fairy tale that has always been her favorite.

Rayn was never absent and always brought the flowers she had placed in the room. Rayn could only sit with her hands clasped by Lucia, occasionally she cried looking at Lucia who was still reluctant to open her eyes. Like a sick patient but can't talk.

"Aren't you wondering why I like you? Though I always wanted to know why you chose me" Rayn said with a sad look.

Many things Rayn does include always praying for the woman he loves is soon awake. He did not get tired of continuing to invite Lucia to speak in the hope that Lucia would hear her voice, hear her call that was always waiting for her.

Rayn told me a lot, all the latest news about her, Lucia's job at the Cafe, about her best friend Reisa, about anyone who had come to visit him including Lucia's mother and what she had talked to Lucia's mother. He was always looking forward to the miracle coming to Lucia. He kept her company and slept by Lucia's side holding hands.

"Ray...."

There was the sound of Lucia calling her name in a soft voice.

"Are you tired? You know, I don't like you behaving like this, ignoring your health" lusia complained.

The call was heard again but now it was not the voice of Lucia, but the voice of Reisa who had stood not far from the bed of Lucia called her name.

"Lussia...!"call Rayn with a worried tone.

Rayn wakes up, she falls asleep in Lucia's bed. Rayn immediately looked at Lucia who was still lying with her eyes closed. Rayn rubbed her tears that had suddenly soaked her cheeks, she was disappointed when she realized that it was all just a dream.

"Rayn, come home and go rest, I'll take your place to take care of him. I know you're worried about him, we all feel the same way. But don't push yourself and make her worry if you get sick later" Reisa looked at Rayn who looked very tired.

Rayn took a deep breath and got up from her seat. "I'm sorry, as long as I'm here you can't accompany me and guard his side" Rayn said, looking down to apologize to Reisa.

"You don't have to talk like that, I understand" Reisa said.

"I'll take a moment to rest" Rayn said.

"Eemm.., don't worry" said Reisa, allowing Rayn to go for a break.

Just stepping 2 steps, Rayn's body suddenly collapsed and fell. Rayn fainted from having a lot of inner pressure and fatigue. Reisa immediately called the doctor to do medical treatment and Rayn got medical treatment.

2 Days later,

Rayn was sitting in front of the painting board. Lucia comes to Rayn and complains why Rayn only brings her no more than 10 flowers a day.

Lucia then approached and smiled at Rayn, she sat on Rayn's lap with one arm around Rayn's neck and said. "I got flowers from a man, a lot of flowers. I want you to also give me a lot, a lot more than that guy" he said, frowning.

"You're showing it off? Which man would dare to give my woman that many flowers?" sahut Rayn looked at Lucia who was in his lap.

"Will that make you jealous?" ask Lucia.

"Are you going to leave me and pick it just because of the flower?" counterattack asked Rayn.

"Are you going to let me go?" ask Lucia back.

"Is he much better than me and can protect you?" ask Rayn.

Lucia immediately descended from Rayn's lap in annoyance. He stared intently at Rayn who seemed to remain calm looking at him.

"What's wrong with you? Then are you really going to let me go if he's better and can protect me?" ask Lucia.

"As long as I can keep seeing you smile and no longer be there (ICU), that's enough for me. I'm so scared, do you know how scared I am?" ask Rayn.

In the HCU room, Lucia was still lying unconscious, with her eyes closed she dropped her tears. Slowly the tears rolled down her cheeks. It was as if he had just seen that picture in his subconscious.
