CHAPTER 102 - The Little Mermaid

Lusia sat pensively on a wheelchair staring at the sunlight that pierced through the curtains of the inpatient room where she is currently in care. The sound of the door opening followed by the sound of Reisa greeting making Lucia turn and turn around. Reisa came to bring her new flowers, beautiful and fresh. Reisa grabbed the vase that still contained the withered flowers to replace it with the flowers she just brought.

"Let the flower remain there" Lucia said.

The withered flower was the last flower Rayn had brought for her. Reisa complains, she feels that she must replace it with fresh flowers but Lucia still refuses. Lucia brought her wheelchair closer to the vase, photographed it and sent it to Rayn.

Lucia knows that the message will not be sent to Rayn because Rayn's number is not dedicated. Despite that, Lucia never stopped or gave up, she kept sending messages about everything she had in mind and wanted to convey it to Rayn. All the activities he did, everything he felt and every improvement he reported to Rayn.

Not only that, still like a lover who is in love, Lucia also asked how Rayn was doing and about what Rayn was doing there. But different from other couples, all of that is only done next to the party where the messages do not reach Rayn.

Seeing what Lucia did made Reisa's heart grieve. He hugged Lucia from behind and gave her some encouragement. Reisa asks Lucia to always think positively and focus on recovering her injuries.

Not long after Kelvin came to enter the hospital room Lucia. He brought Lucia his own porridge. Kelvin helps Lucia to sit back in bed and prepare breakfast for Lucy. Kelvin helps Lucia finish her breakfast by trying to feed her.

"I can do it myself" Lucia refused to reach for the spoon that had been filled with porridge from Kelvin's hand.

"I can help you, don't hesitate" Kelvin said.

"Maybe I'm weak but I can still do it and I don't want to trouble you" Lucia replied.

"It does not decay." said Kelvin, but not until he finished his speech was cut Lucia.

"But it's a burden to me" Lucia cut. "Treat me as usual, I beg you" continued Lusia lirih.

Lucia appreciates Kelvin's every concern for him. But considering that it was all based on Kelvin's feelings for her, Lucia did not want the feelings to get deeper. Lucia is sure that she will never falter, but will still end up being a wound for Kelvin.

Kelvin was speechless, he realized the attitude of Lucia who was seen keeping her distance. Kelvin admitted, however, he would never get a special place or could replace Rayn in the heart of Lucia.

Reisa can only be silent, she can not do much when it comes to feelings. Reisa gave Kelvin the code not to do it and to follow Lucia's will.

At the moment, Lucia is in an unstable condition because Rayn suddenly disappeared. For Reisa, Lucia's recovery is the most important of all.

That made Kelvin again aware of what Rayn said to him at that time.

"Even if he's still fighting inside there to survive, is it important for you to talk about this?"

Remembering Rayn's words at that time made Kelvin increasingly feel so bad and selfish.

After finishing her breakfast, Reisa left because she had to work, she left Lucia to Kelvin. Kelvin invites Lucia to enjoy the morning light in the Hospital garden. "You don't have to apologize because I'm the one who should be apologizing. I'm just worried about you" Kelvin said.

"I understand and I hope that in the future you will also always understand if I." said Lucia restrained.

"Lussia, what are you worried about? I'm fine and don't worry about my feelings, I'll manage it myself. Now focus on your treatment" said Kelvin.

Lucia replied to him with a smile and nodded. Although Kelvin felt a sense of destruction in his heart, he tried to hold it behind his smile. The two then chatted with each other and had a small chat.

Entering her court hours, Reisa and David go out to eat together at a cafe. Reisa did not touch the food David had ordered for her. He just keeps sipping Avocado Juice nonstop and occasionally daydreaming.

David grabs the neglected food, scoops it and asks Reisa to open her mouth. Reisa immediately regained consciousness from her daydream and opened her mouth to take a bribe from David.

"I don't want you to be sick too, so don't neglect your food" David ordered.

Reisa is very worried about Lucia and Rayn's relationship. He wanted to do something but did not know what to do to help Lucia. During this time Rayn is a person who is always with Lucia, he is also a person who has managed to touch the heart of his best friend.

"What should I do for Lucia. Do we need to go to Canada to find Rayn?" reisa asked with a serious look.

Reisa complains to David if he doesn't understand Rayn's decision. As long as Lucia was in a coma, Rayn never once left Lucia, she always looked after Lucia even to the point of not caring about her own health. Now, when Lusia has opened her eyes, Rayn disappears and leaves Lucia.

"For his condition, I can understand it" David said.

"What do you mean you agree with his decision and attitude?" reisa's upset. "If it were me, would you do the same?" tanyanya.

"Don't always put others in your shoes, but try to put yourself in their shoes. The situation Rayn is facing right now is like she is being asked to lead the war without having any weapons" David said.

"I don't understand" said Reisa confused what the relationship of the parable with Rayn's condition.

David didn't explain to defend Rayn. He confirmed the purpose of the parable if Rayn was also in a difficult position to choose. It would be selfish if he kept taking the position of war leader while knowing he had no weapons to protect his men. But it would be even more selfish if he immediately refused and left his men just like that to fend for themselves when they were in despair.

"Do you think Lucia will accept that excuse, not Reisa" David said.

Rayn's decision might be considered selfish, but they need to think about it and put themselves in that position. It will also be difficult to make a decision, only pills that are considered not to be detrimental will be chosen even though it is not the best.

As the sunlight began to dim in the western sky, Lucia looked up again at the color of the sky that turned orange red. Now the sunlight is slowly disappearing changed with the dim night in the moonlight.

Lucia stared at the pile of fairy tale books Rayn left behind in the Hospital. He grabbed it and smiled as he read the titles of the fairy tale books, considering how adorable the man he loved was a hobby of reading fairy tale books like a child. Lucia's eyes were drawn to one book called Little Mermaid.

Lusia turned page by page and read it, occasionally a small smile unraveled in each part that felt like it had a moment so sweet. But suddenly the smile changed, he frowned at the graffiti Rayn writing. Rayn wrote it while she was guarding a comatose Lucia at the time.

After reading it, Lucia quickly flipped to the next page and she again found Rayn's graffiti.

Lucia flips over again and again until she ends up on the page where Rayn's handwriting graffiti is most recent. That page also became the last page of the Little Mermaid book. Lucy continued to read it nervously.

A passage that tells of the sacrifices the Little Mermaid made. His sacrifice of choosing to protect the Prince he loved so much by disappearing into a froth in the ocean. A tragic and haru story where the Little Mermaid and the Prince do not end up together, they have no happy ending.

Lucia began to shed her tears, and the tears fell down the sheets of the fairy tale book when she came to Rayn's writing.

Lusia's cry broke as she read that last sentence, it felt like a knife was pouring into her heart. Lusia's body grew limp and she cried bitterly while hugging the fairy tale book called Little Mermaid.
