Today is the determination of my struggle for three and a half years of undergraduate education. With a step full of confidence, I left the house after asking for a prayer from my mother. Like about to go to war, I tried to suppress the anxiety that began to tease.
"Success, yes dear." Mama patted me on the back when she took me off at the door.
"Thank you, Mama. Please pray for it."
"Mama's prayers are always full for Arjun." The smile of the middle-aged woman warmed my heart, dispelling the coldness of Bandung this morning.
"Sir, doain I graduated, huh?" I deliberately went to the post where Pak Karsa was standing guard before entering the car. For me, Karsa is like my own family. May his prayer be one of my wishes.
"Today's test?"
"Muhun, sir." (Yes, Sir)
"Enya, my didoakeun father, mugi-mugi smoothly exam na. Aden passed with the highest score," (Yes, in praying with the father, hopefully smooth the test) he said with a solemn face like chanting prayer.
"Aamiin yes rabbal alamin. I'm saying yes, sir."
"Yes, Den." Pak Karsa rushed to open the gate, as I got into the car.
My chest feels full. Various flavors gathered there. Happy, anxious, and a sense of unfamiliarity that I did not understand slipped in one corner. Piles of papers I've worked so hard for months, sitting in the passenger seat. As if waiting for me to take him to the courtroom immediately.
By chanting the basmalah, I drove my car through the streets of Tubagus Ismail which began to crowded. Several motorcycles and angkots overtake each other. A shrill honking sound was heard when the angkot driver stopped without a marker light to stop.
This morning was boisterous, but my heart was quiet. Runa's shadow was still entrenched in the deepest recesses of my heart. Uh! If only time could I turn, I want it not to take Runa to Jakarta. It's possible that right now he'll be by my side to give me some spirit. That lump of regret still feels stuck. But regret no longer useful, I again have to look at the reality that is so painful. Living life without the presence of Runa. Facing the day of the trial without any words of encouragement from him.
As soon as my car was about to enter the parking lot, I saw a long-haired girl, standing at the end of the parking lot. His long, ragged hair danced in the wind. Her sweet smile was etched perfectly when I got off the car. Her lentic fingers tucked the wind-drawn strands of hair behind her ears.
"Hey, Eon! Have you been waiting a long time?" I asked when the girl approached me half-run. The end of his hair that was made curl like jumping up and down as his steps approached.
"It was only five minutes ago" he said, breathing out.
Her ivory white skin seemed to be blushing, coupled with a smile from her ripe lips. The work of God is so beautiful. I have repeatedly tried to admire this one creature of God, but my admiration is only limited to being amazed by friends. Still inferior to the taste that was still left for Runa.
"No call, can I pick you up?"
"I'm more bored than you are muters."
Leona seemed troubled to accompany my long steps. I was used to walking with Runa whose steps also almost matched me. Feeling sorry, I slowed my steps.
"Have you had breakfast?" the question simply popped out without intending to pay attention. It was just a question I used to ask Runa every time we met. Habits I could never change.
"Here, before leaving I had breakfast porridge in front of the kosan." His voice gasped back, making me slow down again.
Several students had gathered in front of a room that served as a courtroom this morning. Looks like a young executive, wears formal attire complete with a tie. Black shoes glazed over. Some of the faces that had been familiar all this time, looked so different today because of their neat look.
"Woi, Bro! Success, yes!" A hard pat on the back made me grimace. Riko and friends were also present to give me spirit this morning. Exciting claps landed one by one from the hands of my other friends.
"Eh, Leona's coming along too." Riko grinned when she saw Leona's face emerge from behind my body.
"He-he, yes, Ko," he said awkwardly.
"No talking about coming here, you can be together." Riko started to woo her.
"I saw that the door to your room was still closed, I thought I was still sleeping."
"Eh, I've been called, doain ya!" I cut off Riko and Leona's conversation.
"Ok, Bro! I'm sure you'll pass perfectly, huh."
I stepped inside flanking the strong thesis bundle that was in my hand. My knuckles were hardened from nervousness.
After asking questions, for almost an hour. Finally congratulations were said from the lips of the examiner lecturers. Graduated with satisfactory predicate. Like a burden that was immediately lifted, my hands shook one by one the lecturers, and kissed respectfully the back of my guiding lecturer's hand.
"Humaha, Bro? Pass, teu?" (Where did Bro, pass no?) tanya Cuplis with a dumbfounded face.
"Kuy, I'm buying food" I said.
"Alhamdulillah ..." The faces of the stall waiting for me in front of the courtroom turned relieved.
"Congratulations, Bro! Geus became a maneh scholar. Happy unemployment!" (Congratulations Bro, already a scholar) kekeh Riko while fixing her sagging glasses.
"Enya, sakedeung deui maneh!" (Yes, soon we will follow) I said slowly to the head of my comrade-in-arms.
"Smoke, new. Call the queen at imah heula, " (for a while, I called the queen at home first) as they were very excited to buy.
I pulled over to the corner of the building, looking for a quiet place to call mom. To inform me of my graduation. Not waiting long, my mother answered my call.
"Mam, thank God I graduated," I said excitedly.
"Alhamdulillah. Happy Jun! Where'd you buy me a deal?" Mom's voice sounded vibrating.
"I want my mama's apple pie, let's just stay at home, Mam."
"Well, then Mama's ready first, yeah. You want to take a friend home?"
"Yes, Mama. As usual the team ruffled, Riko cs same Leona."
"Lho, Runa's not coming?" Mom's voice sounded astonished.
"It's still busy taking care of her revision, so don't go along," I said with the answer I had prepared if mama asked where Runa was.
"Well, dear dong ... but later she's followed, right?" insist mom.
"Hopefully the affairs of his revision and guidance are completed today, Mam. Mama will know Runa herself if the focus is on doing something that does not want to be disturbed." I give back.
"Yes already, deh. You want to go home already? New mama nyiapin rice just burn anyway, so if you want to buy additional food can also."
"Ok, ready, Mam!"
I invited a small group of my encouragement team to leave campus.
"As always, the treat is at home, yes!" I told those who were still waiting in the front courtyard of the building.
"Ready, anywhere, the important nutritional improvement," continued Apeng gave his thumb.
After buying some pizza at a fast food restaurant, I drove my car home. Leona today seemed more silent than usual. Since leaving campus, he just sat quietly in the passenger seat without responding too much to the joke Apeng cs.
"What's wrong with you, Eon?" I just felt a little bad seeing it was a little different than usual.
"ah! No reason, no." Her sweet smile looked so forced.
"If anyone is struggling, mending is released. Not good to hold on to."
"Yes, I'll tell you. It's not good anymore like this." The answer Leona gave me made me think hard and a little bit of a fret. What he wants to tell.
Thousands of questions crammed into his head. Makes me lose focus several times while driving.
"Woy! Bro! It's about to pass, drive it as if gini! Behind is still this guy, not stuff," Dimas's sergeant snapped slowly at my head.
"Ha-ha, sorry Bro! Still laughing groggy in the court mood," kilahku.
As soon as she got home, Mama greeted us with a face. A kiss landed on my forehead. Gratitude and praise slipped from his lips. For the first time after the divorce of my parents, my mother smiled cheerfully again. I feel grateful to have been able to bring that smile back to the face of the woman who gave birth to me. May that smile continue to be etched on his jelly face.
