The Hero
Chapter 443 The Search for Mice

That night, after Mackenzie brought the men, Herschel sent them to oversee Nathaniel's company once he took over. After all, there was a high chance that he would cause more trouble should Nathaniel realize what was going on.

After all, they were in the last territory.

In fact, he was not afraid of war. Instead, he was worried Nathaniel would move his company elsewhere.

Herschel must have considered all possible outcomes.

However, problems arise when the person sent to oversee Nathaniel's company sends word that no one seems to be working the next day.

“Any...Why doesn't anyone go to work?”

Herschel immediately called Alyssa, thinking she might be able to figure out what was happening from her.

Unfortunately, Alyssa's phone was being turned off, so she couldn't reach him.

Combined with the fact that no one went to work, Herschel concluded that this was no coincidence, so he immediately told Javier.

Javier tries to call Suzanne, but it turns out he also turns off his phone.

'Did everyone turn off their phones?'

Obviously, this is impossible. Therefore, Javier immediately gave the order and had Mackenzie search the company.

He had a feeling that the company was now just husks.

Indeed, that's exactly what happened…

It would not be difficult for Herschel to organize his men and have them stand at every entrance.

In fact, they could even break into the company without causing too much fuss.

However, when they enter, they discover that the company is now just a shell with nothing in it.

Not even the security guard knew what happened when questioned. They just mentioned that no one left the company after work hours last night.

However, they have been strictly instructed to never enter the company under any circumstances.

So, the security guard just brushed it off.

They had been working all night to do some sort of research, but none of them knew what was really going on.

'What kind of magic is this?! I just met Nathaniel yesterday morning, and Javier even had lunch with Suzanne this afternoon. Most importantly, I sent people to stand guard here at night.

Even if the security guards didn't see anyone coming out of the company, where did they go?

Did you tell me that they somehow learned how to grow wings and fly ?!'

Javier comes in and looks around, realizing that the whole place is a mess. Obviously, they left in a hurry. In fact, they had even destroyed some of the larger equipment they were unable to carry.

This clearly meant that they had received word of what was coming, so they left in a hurry, leaving no shred of evidence for Javier to find.

As they inspected the surroundings, a loud gunshot suddenly sounded from afar.

Javier turned around and saw Mackenzie firing his automatic rifle on the floor.

Under normal circumstances, doing something like this could be considered suicide. This is because the floor has been laid out using bricks, which means there is concrete underneath.

So, once the bullets hit the bricks and hit the concrete, they would definitely bounce, hitting anyone around.

However, Mackenzie is definitely not going to make such a rookie mistake. That's right, because the bullet didn't bounce at all.

Javier instantly understood what happened after he left and looked at the floor. The bricks fired by the rifle were hollow, meaning the bullets had completely pierced through the floor, meaning the floor was completely hollow.

After he had his men search the area, they finally found a switch on the equipment that caused the ground to shake as they flipped over.

Just like the two-sided electric door, the brick floor opened, revealing a large entrance about 20 feet wide.

Of course, this is just the entrance. As they went down the stairs, they saw a large hallway, which was so dark that they could not see the end at all.

Mackenzie said, "I'm sure someone told him."

Javier nodded his head. "The person who told him wasn't just a submissive . I'm sure he's someone who's very strong."

Herschel heard this and pondered it for a moment before finally understanding what had happened.

'Kenzo brought his men here around 10pm, so he landed somewhere around 9pm last night.

The security guard didn't see anyone leave, and Javier even had lunch with Suzanne. In other words, they all retreated in the afternoon. But the problem is Kenzo and the others haven't even come yet!

“The fact that Nathaniel can take his men away and away even before Kenzo and his men arrive definitely means that someone is paying attention to the mercenaries. Most importantly, if Nathaniel could obtain information from the mercenaries

Kenzo, this means that he already knows who Javier really is and has been watching him all along!'

Javier took a deep breath.

“I think we have unknowingly dug up the hidden power.”

Mackenzie nodded her head, agreeing with what Javier had just said. Clearly, Mackenzie was aware that someone had so boldly waged war against all the great families and then disappeared without a trace immediately.

Therefore, he knew that anyone who could act so wisely and even deliberately send someone to watch the movements of the mercenaries must be someone strong.

In addition, large families will be frank because they are worried that misunderstandings will arise after facing such problems.

After all, no one would do something as reckless as trying to steal someone else's possessions by force. This won't even happen among small families.

However, these new powers ended up quietly moving their headquarters without making a clear statement. So, there was no other explanation for this other than the possibility of them fearing being revealed

Mackenzie immediately ordered his men to scout the passageway, but he gripped Herschel as the latter was about to head there.

"Are you an idiot?"

Herschel suddenly realized what Mackenzie meant and thanked him profusely.

A former war veteran, Herschel has also retreated several times before. Therefore, he knew that when retreating, one would usually set up some kind of trap to stop the enemy chasing after them.

Often, such traps are deadly, such as landmines or direct ambushes.

It was extremely difficult to determine whether the power hiding in these shadows would leave such a trap, so Herschel did act rather recklessly.

Meanwhile, Javier exits the entrance and sits down before lighting a cigarette. At the same time, he tried to call Suzanne again.

Sure enough, his phone was still turned off, so it seemed like everyone's phone had been confiscated by the research team.

Just after Javier stopped trying to call her, Mei suddenly called him instead.

After the phone was connected, May said, “I found out who Brian Schmidt was. He is 55 years old and was once the head of our medical research development team, but he was declared AWOL last spring.

“Later someone found his worker uniform and ID card at sea, but no bodies were found. In addition, he had a habit of going out to sea to fish, so the police only deleted everything because he accidentally fell into the sea and died there.

“I also look to his family. His parents and wife have always lived in the countryside, but they also went missing recently. There was no record of them leaving the country, so it was as if they disappeared without a trace. It's been going on for three months now.”.

'Brian disappeared, and so did his family a year later? 'They're obviously still alive, but they've been moved elsewhere. But we don't know where they are.'

Javier increasingly feels like fighting a cunning person who specializes in working behind the scenes without leaving a trace. This was why he thought that the people he was dealing with were dangerous, as all the great families had been exposed in public, while their enemies were hiding in the darkness.

Javier smoked his cigarette deeply before telling May, “All 500 people were sent here. There's something I need to investigate. ”

Without the slightest hesitation, Mei deployed 500 people as if it was nothing

to him.

Then, Javier called Angelina. However, he did not waste time. He had just told her about the existence of this power. Angelina later said she would send 1,000 men, even adding that she could send Javier's mercenaries at the same time.

Of course, Javier needs them to be sent there. Meanwhile, he had Mackenzie fly overseas immediately. At that time, the mercenaries would be mobilized, and he would have to be the one to personally give orders and keep an eye on all of them, especially the 1,500 of them sent.

Now that Javier will control 3,000 well-equipped people, he refuses to believe that he won't find the damn rat! .
