The Hero
Chapter 208 The Unexpected Twist

The car drove past the asphalt, the driver and passengers occasionally engaged in light teasing, but no less sensual, flirting. However, nothing serious comes out of it — of course no passionate milling.

The journey from Medb to Ferris Sky was not long, but finding Cillian's house took longer than expected. Before standing in front of his entrance, Javier couldn't believe why famous art experts like Cillian Nolan lived in that humble neighborhood built about a decade ago. It was such a mediocre place that almost nothing was too different

from the habitation of normal people.

When they had to stop and ask some elderly citizens who were hanging out in the lobby to reconfirm Cillian's address, the crowd replied in a tone no different from the person talking about their neighbor.

As Javier climbed the stairs with Dana, he couldn't help but ask, “Mr. Nolan made a lot of money. Right?”

Dana thought for a moment. “Well, he's fine if you compare him to the amount of money a normal person makes. She paid about 15,000 for her performance in one episode, for example. But I guess he doesn't make impressive money if we compare him to a celebrity with a lot of fans and others.”

Javier can't believe it. A veteran artist earns a very low amount of money for his outstanding talent? In comparison, many popular celebrities charge 110,000 to 130,000 dollars for an equivalent amount of work, and that is only the maximum amount they can ask by law.

"Trs. Nolan has rarely joined any production in the past two years and he insists on never taking any ads to be a product spokesperson. He had only ever taken one advertising job in his life, and he regretted that decision even now. To be honest, we all have no equal to him, you know?

now though.

Javier understands Cillian's frustration and reason, which is why he is increasingly impressed with his moral fiber. While everyone is engaged in a brutal feud with each other over some advertising rights, Cillian has turned down all similar offers no matter how expensive she gets paid. Cillian couldn't stand putting anyone to sleep to buy something that wasn't worth the price just because the ad made it seem like she was backing it.

That alone has left so many other movie stars - and their almost vulture-like urge to accept whatever advertising offers come their way - embarrassed.

The duo entered the actor's house and were immediately greeted by the old man's son and son-in-law. They are warm and friendly, far from the cold welcome that many celebrity families tend to treat.

Unfortunately, this welcome only lasted until Javier and Dana mentioned their motives. Their warmth and friendly demeanor dropped sharply after that, which further shocked Javier. Most people will be more excited and will begin to overwhelm someone who comes to their doorstep with a tempting offer.

Sons and daughters-in-law don't behave like that. Suddenly, their warmth became mechanical and rigid, as if they were just trying to be kind rather than sincere. Javier knows that they only smile out of politeness.

It was a disbelieving thing to believe - and one that left him very confused. But it doesn't seem like a good time to ask why.

A few moments later, the actor came out of the house.

Javier was surprised to see him wearing a jacket all year round. He also did not look too healthy, judging from his slightly pale face reminiscent of someone who had long been locked up in the room so that he did not bask in the sun for centuries.

Nevertheless, the older man looked excited and filled with brios. He beckoned Dana and Javier to sit down while he took an inconspicuous bench for himself.

It is hard to imagine this is the home of artistic movie legends.

“So, I heard from Dana that you hope to make a movie that will win the Osborn Award. Hope you're not chasing the box office. Did you?" Cillian cut straight into the chase with a smile.

Javier laughed and shook his head. “Not possible, Sir. I wouldn't dare waste such a legendary actor. Besides, if the box office is what I crave, then I shouldn't think of you for the job, should I? You are not bait for a large sum of money.

Cillian chuckled wholeheartedly, although her excitement was quickly cut off by the cough. His son, looking very worried, stepped forward, but Cillian waved and stopped him. "I'm fine! I'm fine…"

He reached out his hand towards Javier. "Let me see your script."

Well, that's the hallmark of a true maestro. Everyone focuses on money, but a true artist sees the script at the first chance they get. A good script will make the payment question no problem.

This is in stark contrast to many modern actors and actresses, who are more concerned about how much money they make than how good the story will be.

Cillian took the script and reading glasses from her daughter-in-law. Rubbing his tongue, he began to read the script page by page.

Time crawled in silence. He says nothing, and Javier and Dana are less likely to speak out for fear of disturbing him. Even his son and daughter-in-law waited without a word.

Suddenly, he hit the table hard. “I have been waiting all my life for a script that will move my heart, and now.eventually here! I finally found the script I was waiting for! It's neat. The script was beautiful, and the life of Old Man Ackerman was things that could make mountains cry. Whoever wrote this is very, very good. Here it is-I've been waiting for a story that could grip and steal the hearts of the audience, and here it is! I take on the role! There's no way I missed this!”

Cillian was the most excited she had ever experienced. He flowed with uncontrollable desires, like a child whose greatest desires had just been fulfilled. The only reason he didn't jump into the air and start dancing around was because he was too weak to do that.

Javier felt his heart - which had been hung by a thread - land gently on his chest. She began to worry that Cillian would turn down the role after not hearing comments during the reading process. Heck, Javier had even considered asking Cillian if she saw anything wrong with her story at the beginning!

The veteran actor's reaction eased his trepidation.

They have famous directors, brilliant screenwriters, and unrivalled actors and actresses. The main ingredients needed for a success story are there. Sure, a cinematographer and a few others are also very important in production, but that is the second cornerstone of a good film.

The film already has a solid footing.

Javier was about to go ahead and negotiate his salary when his son spoke up. “You can't do this, Dad! You know you're not in a condition to do more work!

"He's right. We're not short of money, are we? We're both breadwinners,” her daughter-in-law chimed in. “We don't need to live excessively to live comfortably, do we?”

Cillian waved nonchalantly. “Bah, this has nothing to do with how much I will earn. You both know I-greed is not my nature. If so, we'll be living in a mansion rather than the two of you squatting in my old, unimpressive apartment!

“I like the script. Really and truly. It moves me, okay? My greatest hope has always been to act in brilliant stories. To represent our country at the international film awards ceremony in any form so that the whole world will know that we Chinese can also make good films!”

Cillian was very excited as she spoke. It was very clear how much he wanted to take part in the production.

Despite his sincerity, his son continued to stop him. To the extent that the young man was kneeling, his eyes were misty as he pleaded with her. “Please, Dad! Why don't you listen? Your GP tells you that your body is not in a condition to work anymore. You may be in critical danger at any time!

Javier and Dana felt their hearts beating fast. They exchanged shocked looks.

Javier asked. It took quite a strong push before the young man finally told the truth.

The days of Cillian Nolan are counted. The last time they went to the doctor, the prognosis was rather pessimistic - he was in the late stages of cancer.

Even her doctor had advised her not to get treatment. Instead, they told the old man to take care of himself as best he could. The best way forward for him is to live out his last days with the least pain and the most happiness.

It was only fitting that Mr. Nolan's son and son-in-law acted so agitated once they learned of his intention to get Cillian to act in his film.

Had he been in their position, Javier would have been icy cold.

He felt someone nudge his elbow. When he turned around, Javier's eyes met with Dana's pleading gaze.

He's understood. He hopes he can help his beloved teacher by getting some international doctors to treat Cillian

disease, as well as putting him in a sophisticated hospital.

Javier shook his head helplessly. Even the best doctors abroad cannot work wonders when there is no chance of recovery, nor can the best medical advances bring a person back from the dead.

The last stage of cancer cannot be solved, it cannot be saved. Human resources alone can do nothing.

This was why Javier was unable to help Cillian in any way, even if his heart was desperate. At most, he could extend the old man's life as much as possible.

“I'm sorry, Mr. Nolan. I've no idea about your condition before. If I had known, I would never have come to you about this. It's regrettable, but I think it's better if we put this aside for now. We'd rather see you take care of yourself, okay?

“I'll find the best doctor abroad and arrange your treatment. Once you have fully recovered, we will begin filming the movie. Sounds nice? Don't worry, Mr. Nolans. I'll keep this story for you. I'll…". .
