The Hero
Chapter 407 Did I Make Sense To You?

Javier swore that night was almost too impossible to get through.

As it turns out, this success was only on how he managed to make Mikaela and Renna stay — the woman had a sneaky ruse against her.

He has told Javier that he needs to check on his daughter in her room to make sure she is okay and immediately confines himself inside Renna's room, stating that she is "going to sleep".

That's reason! This must be a crime against humanity, right? That's sure!

He lay on his bed, girlless and helpless. All that ridicule went nowhere - he had to give the woman props to withstand her almost invincible seduction. How'd he do it?

He spent too much time throwing, turning, and rolling to the side until he finally fell asleep. God, to go to bed hungry like that!

Javier wasn't even given a chance to go to bed in the morning. Renna had to go to school, so Mikaela woke her up by knocking on her door, asking, "Is this me, or is there nothing to eat in this unit?"

Javier yawns. “Please, you have food for me and Renna hanging on your chest, Mom. Left side for him, right side for me. Thank you!"

Mikaela's face flushed red, and she wished she could drop this b*stard with one punch. But his eyes floated around him until they rested on the wood of the morning, and the compulsion disappeared.

The night before was hard for him. Restless sleep.

The hunger had tortured him enough that there were times when his fingers curled up from the itch opened the door and threw himself at him.

He ultimately does not give up on her, but seeing Javier's current state has called that desire back into him with more blows. He turned his head sharply and turned to leave.

That's when Javier talks, “Clean a little, and we'll have breakfast outside. Take her to her kindergarten, then I'll take you to the hospital.”

“Oh,” He stopped, “I've taken a leave of absence for today. I have to visit the Civil Bureau before noon.”

Javier staggered back in late consciousness. He took out his wallet and gave him 160 dollars.

”Then go and have breakfast without me. I'll be back to bed in a minute. The key is in the shoe rack. Remember to buy me breakfast too when you get back. I haven't eaten anything.” He approached her while yawning and turning around.

“Tat.”

He turned into his bedroom and returned to the bed. First of all, Mikaela had never needed that much money, but the man had closed the door, and there was little room for her to say anything.

When Javier finally moved and opened his eyes, time was approaching eleven in the morning. He rubbed his dizzy eyes and got up from his bed. When he came out of his room, he was greeted by breakfast and a note totaling 110 dollars. Then, he saw the message on a sheet of napkin.

"I've borrowed 50 dollars from you, Mr. Kersey will pay his debt tomorrow after I get back to work."

His handwriting is fun, the corners and curves are graceful. Somehow, reading words can lift the reader's mood.

Javier clenched the napkin and flicked it straight into the trash. He knew Mikaela wouldn't be back tonight - she wouldn't have to take 50 bucks if she planned to come back. The money was for the cost of them staying outside.

Not that it matters. Besides, Javier's gonna see him in the hospital tomorrow. Besides, who says only bed at home can be used for fun? There is a bed in the hospital too!

In fact, anything that resembles a bed is fair game if the partner is right. Shit, he could even do it at the autopsy table in the morgue with the right woman.

While he was out for lunch, Oliver called. According to him, their latest equipment agent came in the afternoon to discuss with the hospital administration.

Javier doesn't plan to care, but there's not much he can do for the day. Therefore, he agreed to attend the sermon and went to the hospital after lunch.

There's no rush. The meeting is scheduled at 14:00, and it's just a few minutes after 13:00 at the moment. Without commitment, Javier saunters into Oliver's office at the hospital sluggishly, arriving just as the clock strikes two o'clock.

He looked at it and showed, "Well, it looks like our supplier isn't on time."

Oliver smiles. “Well, we are dealing with their general agent, who oversees the company agents all over the country. You know how they feel about clients who buy in small quantities.”.

He let his sentence hang on the note rather than finish it, but it was enough for Javier to understand. Lower quantities result in smaller sales, and smaller sales attract less respect. Now, Javier thinks that mindset is somewhat understandable.

They wait, wait, and wait. The clock kept ticking, and at two in the afternoon it immediately turned into three.

No matter how good Oliver is

hiding his patience, his growing annoyance began to slip through the cracks becoming a complaint about the agent's delay.

He even called the man three times, and each of them got a similar and simple answer.

"Almost there!"

Well, f* ck "almost arrived"! How

"almost arrived" would explain the one-hour delay?

Javier left the office to smoke and call. Oliver had already made his fourth call by the time he returned. “How long do we have to wait!?”

“Damn, relax. Stop pushing me! I'm on my way, okay? five minutes! Give me five minutes.”

At the very least, he finally gave an estimate of the exact time of arrival this time, except for the fact that he was still invisible after half an hour. Oliver was furious.

“This is totally bullshit! The absurd! They've always been a little hoity-toity in the past, but like this? Comeon!"

Javier smiles. “It's okay, It's up to him. I've contacted the supplier for the new equipment itself.”

Oliver's a little stiffened. "Then, should I cancel this meeting?"

Javier waved and refused. “No. We'll be too good to him. Calling someone still adds to my phone bill, man. Should equate that with the cost of his gasoline.

Oliver nodded in agreement. He likes his idea — someone just needs to give ba *tards like this some medicine!

Javier listened to the old man and smiled again without a word. Hearing how much he liked the idea implied that Oliver had no special and illegal rebates from suppliers. He would be much more upset or defensive otherwise.

It was a testament to Oliver's honorable character.

At the very least, he was an honest person in terms of the money side of the business.

The agent finally arrived 20 minutes later. It was a fat man who saw a belly with more fat than the amount of hair he had on his half-bald head.

Javier's lips curled up into a grin as he listened to the fat man's many reasons.

“Oath to God, business these days is very busy, Holmes. Do you believe that? Ha! I don't plan on being late. That was just the previous client I spoke to! He's a big guy and not the type of businessman to be offended, even if unintentionally! Will not make a purchase of less than 3 million dollars! 3 Million, Holmes! I can't anger people like that, can I? So, unfortunately, I have to use your time for that.

“Now, don't get mad because of this, okay? What kind of equipment is desired, about 470 thousand huh? Well, you and I go back in time, don't you, Holmes? That's how you know I won't just stop your meeting! Look, I'm here, aren't I? Ha ha ha!"

The fat man laughed as he fell onto a nearby sofa. He looked at Javier and asked, "Who is this?"

Before Oliver can speak, Javier replied with an unrelated remark, “So..You said it was already a great honor for us to be blessed with your presence. Am I right? And we are also expected to thank you for that!”

The fat man's expression dropped slightly. His smile managed to stick to his face, but there was a glint of steel inside. “Listen, beginners. You didn't say the quiet part out loud, okay? Keep that to yourself. Holmes hasn't said anything about it because he's a very clever man. He knows that if he says whatever he thinks and makes this awkward for us, there will be no business for us. You will lose the equipment you need, right?

“Let me be frank with you. No offense, but I can do it without making any sales from your side. Seriously, it doesn't put me to sleep at all. But that's not the way from your side, is it? You understand now, rookie? Do I make sense to you?"

Javier gulped down his coffee and smirked at the fat man. "Oh, miss me with that shit."

His grinning duration shocked the unexpected man into confusion.
