The Rhyme of the Depositary

The Rhyme of the Depositary
049 - SEASON 2

This afternoon was the last afternoon before Alice executed Maxen and his men the next day. The clock is showing at four Manhattan time.

Everything is prepared. The men who were about to finish off Maxen's men had stood guard at the promised strategic point. They've been monitored starting today by Klayver.

Klayver also prepares people to watch over Susan in case she catches something wrong and makes things out of their minds.

The breeze feels cool in the backyard. Alice sat alone, busy with many things on her mind.

Something's up. Something he can't just ignore. It's all about Rachel.

The friendship they have established is a strong bond that is not carelessly obtained. Rachel is not just a friend. He was already like an inner brother that Alice had long had.

Rachel's situation is going to be tough. Alice wants to finish off her husband, whom Rachel loves. The figure who will soon be the father of his son.

What will Rachel's attitude be after knowing Alice is the one who has been after Maxen and hunting him? Can their friendship still work?

Alice must prepare for the worst possible situation. He thought it would be easy to fix the situation. But remembering the strong love Rachel has for Maxen makes Alice doubt whether Rachel can forgive her bad intentions.

It will not be easy for a woman to see her husband's death. Especially if she is pregnant. Life will surely set her aside, making Rachel a victim of a heartbreaking tragedy.

Alice stood up and stepped worriedly. He still wants to finish Maxen off, but he doesn't want Rachel to hate him. Although it was a very selfish and slightly impossible thing to happen, but Alice was intending to do something.

Impulsively, Alice tries to contact Rachel and asks the woman to come to her house. Alice still had two hours before Klayver came home. He needs to talk to Rachel about something.

Half an hour later, Alice welcomes Rachel alone. Rachel's face beamed happily, as if exuding that married life had made her feel heaven.

Alice greeted Rachel with a hint of guilt. He guided his team to the study, looking for a very private place so that their conversation would not be heard by others.

"How are you, Rachel?" ask Alice lightly. She sat in a high-arm work chair, opposite Rachel, and was confined to a large glass table.

"Good and very happy. I never thought love would feel this incredible." Rachel smiled widely, displaying a sincere expression that emanated clearly.

Alice looked down inside. His lips he pulled formed a bitter smile. Rachel happy. Unfortunately, Alice would ruin that happiness. Throw it to pieces.

Could it be that heaven would be angry with his actions? But that was the price Alice had to pay for a grudge. Not fun indeed.

"What about you, Alice?" ask Rachel later.

Alice hesitated for a moment. He tried to straighten up the body and convey something.

"good. There's something I need to tell you, Rachel. Something very important. Maybe, this will shake your heart."Alice said steadily. He grabbed some copian evidence from the top drawer about Maxen's crime that Klayver gave some time ago and held it tightly in hand.

"It seems serious enough." Rachel leaned over, curious.

It was rare for Alice to suddenly contact him and ask to meet in person. Rachel had guessed there must be bad things going on.

"Is there a problem, Alice? You can tell me. Aki promise my mouth will be tightly closed to you." Rachel gestured to lock her mouth and pursed her lips witfully.

Alice was speechless. He stared at the ceiling of the room with a pushy look. During this time, it was someone else who always took something from his life. Only this time did Alice become the one to take something from someone else. Yep. He'll take Maxen from Rachel's side, his own friend.

Life is funny sometimes. But also cruel. Some people get caught up in a directionless world and hurt each other.

Alice looked at her friend. His eyes contained a lot of pain. But the aura of hatred still lingered strongly. Losing Anson has cost him many of the sides he once had. Those people are right. Revenge is the beginning of destruction. Because for the sake of it, we don't care who's going to destroy who in the process. Alice's path was a bloody one that she could not turn back.

Revenge is like a deal with the devil. The main reason is your own soul. So that everywhere the culprit will drown and get dragged along.

"I found Anson's killer."

The statement led them to a long silence. Rachel looked at Alice in disbelief. Both of his lips opened and closed several times, as if wanting to say something but were undone.

After better circumstances, Alice approached her friend, handed over a copy of the evidence she had obtained from Klayver and made a striking statement.

"Maxen is my husband's killer."

The news was like a lightning strike during the day. It's just, there's no thunderous effect like in the movies. But the result remains just as big. Appal.

Alice realizes Rachel's state of shock. He explains one by one the evidence, leading Rachel to the truth.

Alice knows this isn't easy. It's hard for a woman to accept the news that her husband is a murderer. Rachel's family just formed. Happiness is still burning. Now, all of it is destroyed like a grain of sand that is crammed by sea water.

After presenting the evidence, Rachel looks increasingly shocked. His eyes that had the light now dimmed in an instant. His lips twitched. His face was pale. It is like the greatest tragedy.

Rachel cupped her hands together, enduring the pain. He could only close his eyes, permeating everything. Tears flowed down, soaking the floor in an abstract pattern.

Rachel knew what Alice was presenting was the truth. He had known Alice a long time ago so realized all the seriousness regarding this matter.

Anson was once the main sun in Alice's life, as Maxen became a mecca for Rachel. Losing Anson has produced a huge hole. As Rachel had seen before.

Rachel rubbed her eyes that were covered in clear liquid. He remembered Harry's words. The man says Maxen is harboring a dark, shocking secret. Could this be what Harry meant?

Maxen also repeatedly said implied that the man had long been trapped in darkness. Sometimes we forget the warmth of the light.

It was just that, in such a short time, Rachel's hopes were blown away and vanished. What Alice has said changes everything.

"So, all this time I've been living with a killer?" ask her with a bitter tone.

Who would have thought Rachel's beautiful night turned out to be lived with a depraved man who killed the life of his best friend's husband.

Love is a unique thing. Often it is present in the wrong person and develops horribly. In the end, the connoisseur of love will only be slashed. Laughing at a corner of the world that feels small.

"Maxen the killer." Rachel said bitterly. He banged the table in a desperate motion.

What more could he expect from this situation? Alice had opened Rachel's eyes in a surprising way. The veil was open. Showing Maxen's true disability.

Alice chose to let Rachel vent her anger. The woman needs to channel emotions. It is also free to be detained.

After some time, Rachel's state of calm. Alice stood nearby and revealed the plan. This is real news. The essence of the topic of the problem that he needs to convey.

"Tomorrow, Klayver and I will finish Maxen off. I know this is hard for you, but lives must be avenged with lives. Even if I had to destroy the world to kill Maxen, I would."

Rachel jerked loudly. He blinked his eyes a few times, feeling a deep pain.

Wirily, Rachel said, "Kutebak Klayver must not be a random person."

The atmosphere in this room is getting stiffer. Alice turned on the AC and set the temperature as she wanted.

"Yes. He's quite experienced at things like this." That was all Alice could say. He couldn't possibly say that Klayver was a hit man, not much different from Maxen.

Klayver's secret is something Alice must take care of. Perhaps she was selfish, judging Maxen as a murderer when her own husband was just as dirty as her.

Although Maxen is a killer, as long as he doesn't offend Alice's life it probably won't matter. Alice never judged someone's past. Unfortunately, things say different. Maxen took the life of the man he loved so much. How could Alice be nice and not hunt him down?

"Are you going to hate me, Rachel?" ask Alice what she is.

It would be regrettable if he lost a friend like Rachel. But if this was a risk she had to take, Alice accepted it with a chest of air.

"I don't know, Alice. I wish I didn't hate you. But I really don't know. Can you understand my feelings? This is all very confusing to me."

Rachel sobbed. He never wanted to lose Alice as his best friend. But he couldn't promise that everything would go well

There's a deep pain in the thought of Maxen being murdered. Rachel had no idea what kind of emptiness she was going to encounter. But she is aware of the grave mistake her husband has made in Alice's past. That mistake must be hard to make up for.

Rachel could only hope that her heart was strong enough not to hate Alice. After all, his conscience started to pound hard. Honestly, he didn't want Maxen killed and slaughtered.

However, apologizing to Alice was not a solution either. I'm sorry after the blood splattered won't have any meaning. Sorry after life is uprooted it will have no use. I'm sorry that after life is broken, it won't have any effect.

Everything is already over. Destiny has played. No matter how big of a dilemma Rachel has, karma is running and Rachel can't bend her direction.

Life can be terrible. Rachel hates the harsh reality she's been through. It is hard to accept everything. But that's life. There are many things we must swallow in bitterness.

"I know it must be heavy for you. But can you imagine how I used to be when I lost Anson and the kids? Oh one more. You don't know if my two children died on Maxen's orders, either. He had intended to finish off Anson's entire family without a trace. Unfortunately, Axel and I survived by avoiding the poison. Just because Maxen thinks I'm not demanding a response makes him keep me alive. If only he knew I was planning all this, neither I nor Axel would breathe again until this very second." Alice made a confession. She wanted Rachel to understand the truth. The man deserved to be dismantled by all his daggers.

Rachel clutched the side of the table. He held back the nausea of hearing the word for word Alice blurted out. There was a very strong seriousness from his friend. More than anything else, Rachel believed that fact. Alice couldn't have lied to him. Their relationship was stronger than anything so it was impossible for Alice to fool him with empty words.

Cold sweat started popping up on Rachel's nape. He wanted to scream shouting pain, but the sorrow he felt was so deep that the sound he could let out was just a heart-wrenching weeping.

Maxen killed Anson probably for some reason. But killing the children even the newborn baby Alice, Rachel really had no idea what kind of crazy reason was underlying it.

Only a devil without a conscience can take the life of an innocent baby. Rachel was pregnant with a fetus, she had felt a strong possessiveness towards her child-to-be. Imagine a baby who lost his life because of being killed, making his heart moan bitterly. As a mother, she felt pain.

Maxen has a dark side that Rachel never expected. His heart was darker than he expected. Like a steep abyss capable of misleading anyone.

Rachel began to think and ponder. Could a person like Maxen be able to feel love? Are all the sweet words he has admitted lately just nonsense.

Everything looks more blurry. The beautiful colors that were once attractive were drowning in total darkness. All this destruction was caused by Maxen. What else can Rachel do besides handing over the blame to her husband?

Only a demon has no compassion. Killing a child is an unforgivable sin. Every creature has a right to live. The plunder of life was not something Rachel could forgive just like that.

Rachel stood up weakly. He turned his body and passed away. Alice could only close her eyes, choosing not to say anything.

Alice didn't know if telling Rachel about all this was the right thing. His friend could have told Maxen. We never know love can make people go far

But little heart Alice hopes Rachel is not the one who will betray her trust. He had risked a lot with his actions. I hope Rachel cares enough about him.

After this, their friendship can be chaotic and difficult to repair. There must be a strong awkwardness and rift. Never forever will friendship go well.

Out there, the sky is turning yellow. The sun smiled slightly in a faint light. A beautiful twilight silhouette embellishes the never-dead Manhattan skyline.

Alice sat for a long time in the work chair, her hands supporting her face. The water is cloudy. Shadow after shadow is related to each other.
