The Rhyme of the Depositary

The Rhyme of the Depositary
143 - SEASON 2

Alice returned home when it was getting dark. He and Violin along with all of his guards only rested for a while before finally regrouping for the dinner that Caterine had prepared.

Jasmine did not appear at all at the time of the dinner. Alice was beginning to get suspicious about what was happening. He guessed that Daniel must have had a pretty serious conversation with Jasmine that Jasmine was currently feeling depressed. After all, Alice could guess Daniel's true thoughts. Inwardly, Alice promised that after dinner ended she would immediately check on Jasmine in her room and ask her what had happened.

"Where's your shameless friend going? Why doesn't his face show up at dinner this time?"

Unlike usual, Violin this time asked about Jasmine's whereabouts during dinner. James who was by his side turned his head with a look of eyes implying a hint of shock. The corners of her lips curved up slightly, forming a small grin.

"What's up, Violin? You don't usually ask Jasmine."

Usually the two of them were always arguing without end. All the topics that exist and every available time they always spend opposing opinions to each other. That's why in some moments, sometimes Jasmine chooses to give up and not participate with them. Merely just to avoid endless debate. In public places, such a debate is completely inappropriate. For some reason, Violin was not bothered by the situation. Jasmine is the one who feels uncomfortable on her own. Arguing in a public place would only reduce Jasmine's value.

"No. It's just that sometimes my spicy mouth needs to be channeled occasionally. He can make me exercise lips." Violin answered haphazardly. She glanced at her husband and chuckled little at the faintly imprinted shock from the look on her face.

"In other words, Jasmine is your balanced opponent." Alice gave a small nod, understanding exactly what Violin meant. He knows enough about his in-laws. Sometimes, one can get close to each other just because of a small debate.

Familiarity can be intertwined because of things beyond expectations. Things that used to feel like little hostility can be things that will be missed by each other. It was just that, for a woman with such self-esteem as Violin, it was forbidden for her law to admit closeness to another woman like Jasmine.

"That's it. Let it be if that woman isn't with us right now. The atmosphere is quieter without it." Violin raised her shoulders and tried to say lightly to argue about her longing for Jasmine. Alice and James who heard it could only nod lightly, leaving Violin alone and choosing not to corner her.

"By the way, three more days is our wedding anniversary, honey! What if we celebrate outside with a special dinner?" james looked at his beloved wife. His eye light implied a familiar light. A love he had for his companion woman for the rest of the time he had.

"Oh?" Violin. His face was a little surprised, his forehead wrinkled in thought. A few seconds later, Violin's lips were again rounded. Showing he just realized that three more days is their wedding anniversary.

"Oh my God, I can't remember! Sorry, Sweetie." Guilt was on Violin's face. Her hand rubbed James's arm with a gentle gesture, hoping that her husband would understand.

Lately, Violin's thoughts have always been on Luiz and the danger that could threaten Alice at any time. He did not pay much attention to other affairs because Alice was the main focus that he paid full attention to.

"I knew. You're busy with other, more important matters and your concentration is entirely focused on Alice's problems. I understand that, honey. But it's also good that you pay attention to your happiness. Our happiness."

James's face warmed and softened each time he looked at his wife. He had already memorized how Violin characters were. A woman who always pours out all her pent-up feelings and expectations to be shared together.

Time has long passed since they pledged their marriage and loyalty. Their children have grown up and life has forged them a lot. But all that does not make their feelings eroded and reduced by each other. Time only makes their bond stronger, uniting them in true togetherness.

There is nothing more violin is grateful for than the acceptance and deep love of her husband. As a woman, Violin is not perfect. He has a rude character and is very easy to be selfish. James taught him many things. Together with the man, Violin was able to bring out the side of her that had been hidden. The love and affection that he once thought was absent, managed to be present in the presence of James.

"alright. We'll have dinner outside." Violin nodded with happiness. He looked at Axel who was sitting silent from earlier and only became a listener as the adults around him talked to each other about many topics.

"How, Axel? We'll all be out for dinner in three days. You have another request? You want a new toy or something?" violin asked looking at her grandson with a look of affection. A look that only he gives to certain people he loves.

The little boy only glanced at Violin at a glance and looked back at his dish plate. He's not too keen on getting out. For Axel, playing with Helena was more fun than going out at night in the unfriendly cold, full of snow.

"Grandma, I'm lazy to go out in winter. What if you guys just go and let me play with Helena at home? Or I'll just stay with Aunty Rachel. You can bring me souvenirs after dinner." Axel looked at his grandmother seriously. Both of his dark eyes implied maturity. Distinct from the attitude of his children every time he whines asking for something.

Caterine who came to hear them could only shake a little. Realize amusedly that her small employer can behave like an adult in some situations.

"alright. You can stay at Rachel's Aunty if you do, honey." Alice nodded, agreeing to the child's will. He didn't want to force Axel too much. Let the boy stay somewhere else if he's not willing to come out. Maybe the dinner that Violin meant was not just an ordinary dinner. Who knows?. Dinner that becomes one with a small party and inappropriate champagne for a child.

"Thank you, Mom." The child's chubby cheeks look more padded and cute when what he wants to succeed he gets. Her eyes light slightly softened and produced small dimples.

"Together, Honey. Finish your meal and you can go straight to bed delivered by Helena."

They all went back to their dinner. The sound of spoons and ceramic plates clashing against each other, resulting in a distinctive commotion. Small talk only happens occasionally. After dinner, Alice brought some food to give Jasmine upstairs.

Alice was having a little trouble on the main stairs. Her growing pregnancy made her space limited. It was very different from Axel's pregnancy. At that time, Alice still remembered how she had walked here and there without a hitch.

In addition to her limited movement space, Alice also felt her body widening every time. Every month Alice felt a few pounds gain.

Fat feels thicker at some point. Alice must remind herself to do gymnastics again every morning. He needs to maintain his body weight. Although everyone around her did not feel this difference, Alice clearly understood that her body was beginning to swell. She could be as big as an elephant by the end of her pregnancy. Klayver would be surprised if he came back. Speaking of Klayver, Alice recalled the man. When is he coming back? Time was slow without her husband. Like the drama, Alice only played a monologue throughout the scene. He was alone and lonely.

Alice tried to restore her mind and calm the mood. He didn't want to be too late for things. The baby doesn't need any of that. Alice must always be in good shape if she wants her baby to grow well in the womb.

Unlike usual, the small crack under Jasmine's bedroom door looked dark. Indicates the room has been turned off the lights. Could Jasmine have slept? But it makes little sense that a woman like Jasmine sleeps this early.

"Jasmine? You're asleep already?" Alice's head was shuffled towards the door, figuring out what sounds and activities might be happening in her friend's room.

"Jas—"

"Attent. I haven't slept." Jasmine immediately replied to Alice. A small clutch sound rang out, showing Jasmine turning on the room lights. The gap under the door was bright and before long, the door of the room was wide open.

Jasmine looked at Alice with a serious look. Jasmine's face looked chaotic. His usually neat hair also looked messy. Alice could immediately guess the state of Jasmine. That woman must have had a pretty bad conversation with Daniel before.

"You okay?" ask Alice carefully. Jasmine's face looked even more ominous. She snorted slightly, moving her fingertips as a gesture for Alice to immediately enter the room.

There's a table that's wide enough. Slowly, Alice placed this food there and turned slowly to look at her friend. The bedroom door was closed, giving them greater permission to talk about sensitive matters.

"You told Daniel about my pregnancy?!"

That was the question that was immediately thrown from Jasmine's lips. There was a separate anger from Jasmine to Alice. An anger that he tried to suppress because he was still thinking about the consequences. If until Jasmine acts out of control, Jasmine is slaughtered by Violin and Klayver. Fighting them is not a wise choice.

"Yes. Did Daniel make it hard for you?" Alice felt guilty.

He only intended to tell Daniel with the intention that the man could control his attitude and take more care of himself. Alice had absolutely no intention of trapping Jasmine in any other difficulties. She is not a manipulative woman who likes to see her friend get stuck in trouble and just watch it.

"Where is your logic that you're leaking this fact, Alice? Now he's threatening me to take this kid away from me. He will definitely ask me to do a DNA test and prove the identity of the child I bear! Are you really crazy or what? Didn't I tell you not to let this reality be known to Danie?l!" Jasmine's tone grew even higher, showing both resentment and disappointment.

"Oh my God .. I .. I really don't know if he'll go that far. I think Daniel is a man who is actually kind and easily appreciates others. Every time I see your quarrel or bad mood every time you're together, I get distracted. That's not how Daniel should treat you. He thinks too low and meaningless. That's why I told her about your pregnancy with the intention that Daniel would be more gentle and reasonable. At least, at least he can think of you as a friend. I really didn't mean to give you any trouble, Jasmine."

Alice's eyes showed regret. His eyes light dimmed. His body's attitude looks awkward and unguided. He sat limply in a nearby chair and stared at the floor without passion.

Who would have thought his decision to tell Daniel would bear such fruit? No one had expected Daniel to pose such a threat to Jasmine. Alice thought her actions would only have a deterrent effect and result in a better attitude from Daniel. It turned out to be like this at last.

"I really didn't expect to make it this far, Jasmine. A manly man should be gentle and give you a marriage offer. At a minimum, he'll be nice to you." Alice confirmed her seat and shifted the seat slightly so that she was right opposite Jasmine who currently looked chaotic.

"She did offer marriage" Jasmine said.

"He offered a wedding? Didn't you just say he threatened to take custody of your son?" Now, Alice's countenance changed in confusion. He stood up as fast as lightning and shook both of Jasmine's shoulders, waiting for certainty.

"He offered me a wedding but I refused. As a result, he threatened to take custody of this child later after birth." Jasmine's words were almost a whisper. He was lazy to explain this. Lifting this topic was the same as scraping the wound in his heart even deeper. Honestly, Jasmine is still fucked. Very messed up, though.

"You're refusing?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"Why? Wouldn't you rather take it?" Alice did not understand the decision Jasmine made.

"Please think healthy, Alice. Why would Daniel offer marriage to a cheap, lowly woman like me? A woman whose job is as a prostitute and has a reputation as a bitch? A normal man would never do this!"

"Daniel is an objective person. He must be thinking of your child's psychic. For the good of this child, Daniel will surely be willing to be kind and accept your past as it is."

Jasmine looked at Alice's face with a strange expression. It was like seeing an unusual alien. Either Alice is too stupid or too innocent. The combination of the two things was really very troublesome.

"Where are there men who can accept women well, Alice? Can't you realize, the marriage Daniel offered would just be the bond that imprisoned me. In that marriage, I was the one who would be suppressed, cornered, and harassed. In the end, Daniel will only sue me for divorce after being satisfied to use me and take full custody of my son. That's what's gonna happen!"

Alice remained silent for a long time. He looked at Jasmine's face that was flushed red with anger. The room became tense. Only the clock ticking filled the silence. After a long time passed, Alice ruffled her waist and pressed Jasmine's chest with her index tip.

"That's how you judge Daniel? He should have threatened you in a cruel way. Because you're quite subjective in judging her!"
