The Rhyme of the Depositary

The Rhyme of the Depositary
EIGHT

For three days Alice was not contacted by William. Doesn't matter. Anson is a busy businessman, allowing himself to take care of things. It should have been an excuse Alice was able to accept.

Sadly, Alice was not that easy to accept. There is little ego that expects Anson to want her back, every day, as Alice feels. Alice preoccupies herself with meetings of colleagues and examines her improved financial situation. But there is an emotion that cannot be extinguished just like that. Anson's shadow, make all his logic disappear.

After nearly ten days, Alice could no longer concentrate on anything. He even started having insomnia syndrome. Everyone thought hard about Anson.

After two weeks of no progress, Alice decided to contact William first. At the very least, if Anson intended to drive Alice away, he would need to hear it directly.

"Hello William." Alice opened the conversation.

"Siang Ms's. White, anything to help?" The butler's voice sounded confused.

"No. I just want to make sure you get a message from Anson to ask me to visit? I need to clarify something" Alice said.

"I'm sorry I didn't contact you Ms. Whites. But sir just had an accident. There was no notice of him"

The fact that William presented hit Alice's hope hard.

"Accident? when?"

"Two weeks ago."

Goody. No one contacted Alice at all about this. Alice inflamed.

Alice smiled bitterly. Of course William would not bother to contact, who is he? Just a mistress.

"How's the condition?" ask Alice in shock.

"It's critical." William seemed not too happy to get many questions from women who he considered as outsiders.

"Can you give me the address of the hospital where Anson was treated?"

William was silent for a moment. Finally he reluctantly mentioned a hospital address. Alice closed her eyes hearing the address mentioned. Damnit. The hospital is located in a fairly distant state. Alice must rush to take the flight tonight too if she wants to get there soon tomorrow.

Alice bought the plane ticket through an online system and immediately left the office. He went home to bring some clothes and essentials into the suitcase, turned off all the lights and turned on the alarm system.

Anson critical. He doesn't know how long he'll be gone this time. It might be good if he calls Rachel.

After sending a short notice that she will be flying to LA tonight via voice mail, Alice pockets the phone back into her leather jacket. He brought some head coverings and warm clothes. It's winter soon. The weather will definitely be lower.

After traveling to the nearest airport, Alice left her car at the local daycare and looked for a fast food restaurant to fill her stomach.

Alice ordered a taco, tuna sandwich and a cup of black coffee. He closed his eyes, holding back the nauseous feeling that struck. Maybe the news of Anson's accident was too surprising, so his body system reacted. A cup of coffee can definitely improve the condition.

Thinking of Anson made Alice feel chaotic. The man managed to pull it. Not only his feelings were burning, but other emotions were popping up. Making Alice realize this reaction was only she felt for Anson. Even Alex can't make it like this.

Life can be a tragedy for some people. Alice became one of them. He often imagined that if they met in other situations, when the money was fine and life was normal, would a man like Anson be able to look at it in a different way? Will they have a better story?

But Alice could not continue to be stuck with delusion. What happened was that he met Anson with a state of himself that had been at a low point and made a cheap deal without shame. Any normal man who can think rationally, will still judge it low.

After the afternoon began, Alice walked with increasingly confused thoughts to the airport to check in. His emotions are not easy to control. His stomach was protesting and becoming uncomfortable. Even after Alice made the flight for almost five hours, her mental condition did not improve.

...

Anson's condition is still unstable. He hasn't gotten his senses yet. Although Alice was relieved when William conveyed that Anson had made it through a critical period. Her pupils had started to respond to the light and her vital condition had started to improve.

It was William who accompanied Anson in the hospital. He was the only person who fully took care of Anson. He also takes care of all the administration. From the talk of William that Alice was able to capture, it seems that all of the Anson family has long been gone. A condition similar to the one Alice was experiencing.

Alice entered the room where Anson was. The man is still in the ER. The doctor waited for his condition to completely improve before deciding to move him to the hospital room.

Alice felt her heart ache to see Anson lying helplessly on the sick bed. At first glance Anson's condition looks normal because only the head and left arm are wrapped in bandages. However, a head injury is what causes it to be critical.

William has checked the CCTV of the crime scene. The butler explained that CCTV showed that the accident occurred because Anson was hit hard enough while going to a business meeting by a motor teenager until Anson slammed into the side of the road with his head first. Although his body condition is fine, but his head suffered a severe injury. There was heavy bleeding in the head.

The teenager has been successfully detained, but was released again because he was not old enough to accept the trial charges.

Alice sat by the side of the bed looking at Anson concerned. Some devices to help breathing and heart rate detection are still not separated from Anson's side. Maybe Anson's condition is still severe enough that doctors don't want to take the risk.

Alice clasped Anson's fingers gently. He saw a sensor like a clamp used at the tip of Anson's right index finger. Alice was careful to touch in the safe part and rubbed it feelingly.

"Hi bigman, I hear your situation has improved. Quickly come to your senses and go home soon," persuaded Alice to choke.

Seeing Anson like this, weak helpless, made his emotions chaotic.

"Didn't you miss your daughter? Kimi must have missed you too" he said in a dialogue.

The shadow of the little girl with the dense black hair reflected in Alice's mind.

"I know you may not miss me. But will you open your eyes and make me feel relieved? Be kind to please me this time." Alice had two tears at the end of her sentence.

"Are you Anson. You are the********* that has managed to snatch my heart." Alice smiled bitterly.

"And I've become your stupid woman who gives up on emotions. Our relationship is a tragedy. "

Alice stood staring at the texture of Anson's flat face.

"Now. Since you've managed to pull me here, give me a reward. Open your eyes and see Anson. I don't care how bad you treat me. As long as you're alive, it's been my greatest gift." Alice kissed softly Anson's forehead, rubbed Anson's permanent wound in her left eye and regained a weak seat.

Shortly after, a doctor entered their room. He brought in some medical equipment and asked permission to control Anson's condition.

"Are you the closest family of patients?" Ask the doctor who introduced himself as Jack Turner.

"Yes. I'm Alice White, her future fiance" Alice lied spontaneously. There's no way he'd say as a mistress, right?

Doctor Jack opened Anson's eyelids, lit up with a device and wrote something down on his report paper. He also rechecked Anson's head bandage to check if there was bleeding again or not.

"Alright Ms. White, can we talk in my room for a second?" The doctor looked serious. It seems like he wants to pass on important information.

Alice nodded, following Jack's doctor with an increasingly troubled feeling.
