Alice looked at Klayver from across the breakfast table with an amused smile. Her husband was approaching Axel. While the little boy looked depressed every time Klayver approached. The two of them were really awkward with each other.
"You want me to add vegetables to your scrambled eggs?" tawar Klayver for the third time.
"No need, Dad. I'll get it myself later!" push Axel down for the third time as well.
Klayver shrugged the surrender sign and fetched water, bringing it closer to Axel's range.
"Don't forget to drink water. It's good for your body."
Axel stared in wonder at his stepfather with slightly pinched eyes. Well, that kid is still five years old. But his manner of acting had already surpassed that of an eight-year-old child. William called it the Mallory family intelligence. All Mallory families always have above average intelligence from the time they were toddlers.
"Thank you, Dad. I don't know what the hell is going on with you today so your attitude is a little unusual. But if you can choose, I'd rather have your usual attitude than your present one."
Axel looked at Alice meaningfully, as if his mother was a suspect.
In her heart, Alice began to get inflamed. How could she give birth to such a smart child? Alice long suspected Axel's age was not actually five years.
"Why are you staring at Mom like that?" ask Alice not to accept.
Axel smiled slightly and said slowly. "Because she's Mom's husband, where else should I complain about her strange attitude?"
Both Klayver and Alice were wide-eyed. They exchanged glances and gave a gesture of giving up without words.
Klayver looked at Alice as if to say 'What I said, our relationship is indeed better as before. Sudden attention will only make things more complicated.'
Tired, Alice watched her son and said something.
"Axel, Mom just wants you and Dad to get to know each other better." Alice tried to argue. He looked at his son closely, trying to draw Axel's understanding.
It is common knowledge Axel is able to capture Alice's intentions with the intelligence he has. Often their conversation feels more like an adult than a child.
"I know Dad Klayver well enough, Mom" he replied, feeding a spoonful of his favorite scrambled eggs. Sometimes, Axel calls Klayver with his name frills in the back. Just like he is doing right now.
"Oh yeah?" Alice asked in disbelief. He tapped the tip of the spoon on the plate. His eyes were increasingly glaring sharply at his son, feeling dissatisfied.
Axel nodded innocently like a child. His round eyes blinked with earnestness. He took a deep breath and began to reveal one by one what he knew about Klayver.
"I know Dad Klayver's favorite. He likes the menu of all kinds of roast meat as the main dish. For example, he now enjoys roast beef ribs. Yesterday's roasted turkey, the day after tomorrow's roasted lobster. Always drink water. If sitting likes to prop one of his right legs up the left leg, something Mom forbids me to do. If you walk upright and fast, like my gym teacher who said ex-marines. He spoke briefly, but I knew he would often notice me. He rarely smiles except with Mom. But this morning he smiled at me more than four times. So, that's a little unnatural." Axel glanced at Klayver a little hesitantly.
Beside him, Klayver laughed crisply at all the words of her stepson. She shook her head slightly, feeling defeated.
"He's your son, Alice. But his attitude is very similar to mine. We are connected through a strong bond that is invisible Something that cannot be judged fiksically. So, forget your request for me to get closer to her. We were close to each other in our own way. Believe, Alice. Me and Axel have formed a strong bond without you noticing." Klayver pushed her chair backwards and stood up from her seat to pass away from the dining room.
His laughter still resounded in the corners of the room. Alice could still feel the warmth left over from Klayver's figure.
"Mom, for the first time she laughed in front of me. Are you sure there's nothing wrong with everything?" Axel asked suspiciously.
Alice who heard the innocent question from her son could only shake a little.
Klayver's right. They have formed a strong invisible relationship. Behind their silence, it turns out that both Klayver and Axel are sensitive enough to pay attention to all things personal to each other. Alice alone who had been insensitive to catch it all.
Susan, who saw the scene from the kitchen, also threw a smile at Alice. He walked with his stocky body and said cheerfully.
"You're pretty lucky, Alice. You got a husband who's quite considerate even though his personality is like ice in the north cover." Susan patted Alice's shoulder warmly and laughed widely. Her laughter calmed Alice. He felt that spring would soon come whenever he heard this laughter from his cook.
"Well, I thought it was, '" Alice gave a small smile.
"Good, Alice. I used to think you'd be stuck in grief without being able to open your heart again after Anson's departure." Susan is sympathetic. He started picking up the leftovers on the table and tidying up with a quick movement. Although Susan was old, but she was quite cut. That's what makes Alice reluctant to replace it with someone else.
"Life will go on, Susan. I have to stay strong and live it right." Alice looked at her son, wondering if Axel was sensitive enough to catch their conversation about his biological father.
"You've done the right thing, Alice. Life goes on, no matter what happened in the past. The only thing you can do is keep going and be strong." Susan said sincerely, encouraging her employer.
Alice looked at Susan with gratitude. This woman was one of the people who always kept her under any circumstances. Especially in the moments after he lost Anson first.
"I really don't know how to thank you, Susan. You've always been loyal to be by my side."
Susan hugged Alice affectionately and patted her shoulder gently.
"Live well, Alice. I've considered you my own son." he said sincerely.
Alice touched the side of Susan's round face and replied with a big smile. He gave a small nod, confirming the words of his cook.
"Of course, Susan. By the way, today I'm going to pay a visit to Rachel's house. You don't have to wait for me to prepare lunch." Alice tells. She had already informed Rachel this morning to pay a visit to her at Maxen Millian's mansion.
Susan, who was standing in the dining room, stared at Alice's departure with a meaningful look. He pulled out his little cell phone and contacted someone.
"Sir, Alice has forgotten Anson's whereabouts. Let him continue living because his position no longer harms us. He can't take revenge like you're afraid of. I judge her quite happy with this marriage and it's impossible to dirty her hands for things related to the past."
Susan severed her personal connection and touched her chest with trembling hands. Deep down, Alice is considered to be her own daughter. It was hard for him to imagine he had to kill Alice directly. His hands are dirty. As much as possible he will not dirty again with small things that are not desirable.
His affection for Alice and Axel grew beyond expectations. They were both like jewels that Susan found in an arid desert. It was very difficult for him to silence them.
…
Rachel stared at a small object that had two clear red lines. His eyes glazed over at the object and grasped it tightly. A sense of happiness rose strongly in his heart.
Rachel stared at the clock that had shown at nine in Manhattan time. Maxen left for work an hour ago. Rachel has to keep this secret until the afternoon.
Oh God. For what reason has his life changed like heaven. Nature has sent him a perfect husband. Now, he was given a fetus that became the fruit of their love both. There was nothing more he wanted than to shout loudly and give thanks.
Rachel was still overwhelmed with shock when a servant informed Alice of her arrival in the front room. He gave a small nod, gave some orders and walked quickly to his friend.
Rachel looked at Alice who was now wearing a pale yellow knee-high dress with a few small sequins on her waist. His skin looked bright, making his figure like an angel that spread happiness.
"Alice," call Rachel longing.
"Hi Rachel, you look amazing." Alice hugged her best friend tightly. They laugh at each other and throw jokes.
Rachel takes Alice into the living room which offers more privacy. She offers her own handmade americano coffee and chocolate cake.
"How are you, Rachel? I see you're getting brighter." Alice commented on the appearance of her friend while taking a piece of cake presented by Rachel. All the food made by his friend always has a high taste. Alice felt the woman was a master in kitchen affairs.
"I'm happy, Alice. My deal with Maxen went well. We didn't expect it to finally get to this point considering the beginning of our marriage was a very shameful tragedy." Rachel bluntly told Alice. His face was radiantly displaying many pent-up emotions.
Hearing Rachel's confession, Alice would not want to feel happy too. From the beginning he was not happy with Harry. A stroke of luck for Rachel to be detached from the man and get another much better man.
"I was surprised to hear that. But I'm glad you took this step, Rachel. At least, Maxen is better than Harry. Your ex-fiance is such a coward, you know?" alice's words were filled with hatred. He took out a cup bearing the image of a flying eagle and took a sip of the black liquid that was inside.
Any man who is quite normal, will never be able to leave his partner alone on their wedding day. Harry's actions had upset Alice.
"You're right. Harry came here a while ago and I told him that my heart had chosen Maxen. I'm no longer the woman. He can play other women if he wants but I will never be played again by him. There have been enough sacrifices from me that he wasted. If he's old enough, he should be able to introspect." Rachel recalled the incident. He was still furious every time he saw Harry's actions trying to threaten him instead of self-improvement.
This morning the air was a little hot. Rachel stood up, took the AC remote and set the temperature to what she expected. The room immediately turned cool in a moment. Alice let out a sigh of relief enjoying the coolness present. He straightened his legs and looked for a more comfortable sitting position.
"Guess what I found this morning." Rachel looked at Alice cheerfully. His eyes danced with happiness.
Alice's forehead frowned slightly. He bit his deep lips and tried to think lightning.
"You're promoted as operational manager at the restaurant?" Alice remembers it was a dream Rachel had always wanted for years.
"No. Forget work. I made a request to resign two days ago."
After the relationship Rachel and Maxen began to experience a bright spot, Rachel felt no harm in giving up and following the will of her husband. Finally, she decided to become a full-time housewife and a wife ready to serve her husband.
Maxen is of course very happy with Rachel's decision. One of his hopes began to materialize. Having a wife at home as a housewife has been a dream of his. Maxen did not intend to oppose the theory of equality of women's rights, but personally, he preferred to protect his wife in full body and soul. He did not want his wife to raise dollars elsewhere while he himself was more than able to bear his needs.
But if Rachel herself doesn't like the principle, Maxen still accepts Rachel for who she is. It was unexpected that the woman finally chose to do something that became her hope. Honestly, Rachel's actions impressed Maxen.
"Oh, I didn't think you'd finally choose to quit your job. So, did you suddenly get a million-dollar inheritance from Maxen or something like that?" guess Alice started guessing.
"Something more than that." Rachel's gaze began to unfocus, imagining things with a smile. His face was increasingly showing a ray of happiness. Her gently swinging blonde hair adds to the beauty she has.
"Alright, Rachel. I surrendered. What did you just get?" Alice began to wonder. She walked up to Rachel and demanded an answer through her sharp gaze.
"You're lucky, Alice, because I'm willing to tell you before Maxen." Rachel gave a small smile, waving a test pack on her right hand that showed a positive result.
Alice was wide. He blinked his eyes a few times and looked at Rachel in disbelief.
"You pregnant? How many months?" Alice was surprised. He takes the test pack out of Rachel's hand and confirms both of the red lines he sees.
"Yes. I don't know, I haven't checked with the doctor. But if it's roughly calculated from my last period, it's probably about five or six weeks." Rachel rubbed her flat stomach. He thought his cycle was having a disorder, he never thought it all turned out to be an early symptom of the new life he was carrying.
"Rachel, I'm really happy to hear this news. I hope, I'll soon have a funny nephew from you." Alice said cheerfully. She never thought Rachel's pregnancy would complicate things.
