The Rhyme of the Depositary

The Rhyme of the Depositary
THREE FIVE

After Rachel succeeds in signing Daniel, they agree to a meeting with Kendrick's lawyer. He was the one who held the important files related to all of Kendrick's assets after his death.

James Bright, the lawyer, in addition to being in control of Kendrick's files and securities, was also the one who had the power to act on Kendrick's behalf. He must be included in this conversation, actively involved to determine Alice's future fate. Alice is still legally a member of the Kendrick family. He's entitled to be taken care of under the protection of Kendrick's system.

"Sir, what do you think about Alice's situation? What do you suggest?" Rachel starts a conversation in the main room of Kendrick's late mansion.

Daniel, who was beside them, participated.

"Actually, after knowing Ms. White lives, I intend to get rid of all Mr. Jafferson's business and property. On the last will that has been renewed, Mr. Jafferson stated in writing that all of her assets were entitled to Ms. White has no conditions on certain terms if she dies." James showed me some documents from the red map he was carrying. There he showed them some copies of the will Kendrick had made.

Although Alice is the widow of the late Kendrick, they agree to return Alice's maiden name.

"But given his impossible mental state, I will hold all those assets to their fullness. The first step we have to do is support his healing process."

James, who was only in his early forties looked authoritative. The wrinkles he released showed he had long been in the profession as a lawyer.

"I think that's a good idea, James. Just how do we manage Alice's healing process?" Daniel who had previously considered James as his theme, asked without being awkward.

"That's what I'm thinking. What if I leave it to you? Look for someone who is reliable to treat it and a great doctor to do therapy. I'm handing over funds to fund Ms.'s recovery. Whites. Do whatever is best, don't mind the cost. No matter how much money is spent, it will be worth the recovery."James hoped they would be willing to bear this responsibility. They were one of the people James trusted as far as Alice was concerned.

"I'm planning on taking care of Alice, sir. Would you allow me to come back to this house after work and take care of Alice?" Rachel asked miserably. Although Alice is her theme, she needs James' approval to carry out her intentions. Alice is not married to anyone. There are many procedures they must go through to realize their intentions.

"I'm really grateful if you're willing to do that, Ms. Brownian. Ms. White must be in desperate need of your presence. I'll give you a big compensation if you're willing to do that." James looked bright.

"Oh forget that, sir. I don't need any compensation to take care of my friend. She's been like family to me" Rachel refused subtly.

James smiled more and more, realizing Alice was not alone through this difficult process.

"alright. I give you the power to do anything that can encourage Ms. Healing. Whites. If you need anything, call me." James stood up to leave.

"What if I invite my sister to stay here too?" pinta Rachel then.

"Whatever you think is good, Ms. Brownian. Find also a certified nanny for Ms.'s son. Whites. Make everything go well. I really owe you for all this." James bowed respectfully and left them. He promised to facilitate everything they needed.

Rachel glanced at Daniel and smiled in relief.

"James Bright is a very nice person. I thought I'd be challenged if I meddled with Alice's problem." Rachel felt a little guilty.

"He's a pretty realistic person, Rachel." Daniel shook his head feeling funny with an unreasonable fear of his theme.

They go over some small details for Alice and end up making a decision together. They need to hire a reliable nurse to accompany Alice all the time, and a competent maid who can take care of Axel. Not forever Rachel and Daniel can accompany Alice for twenty-four hours. There must be someone who is good enough to take care of him.

...

Tonight, Rachel is standing in the dining room of Kendrick's mansion with Alice. He was persuading Alice to eat something. Ever since they were in this mansion, Alice's condition had gotten worse. He began to be difficult to be given food intake directly. Rachel and Maria, Alice's nurse, have to be extra patient in feeding. Response decreased. Rachel grew increasingly afraid of imagining the bad possibilities that began to haunt her brain.

"Not yet to eat?" anna asked to enter the dining room holding Axel.

Anna has adapted so incredibly. As a teenager who does not know the problem of babies and children, now he has mastered many ways to approach Axel. Anna's attitude was gentle and easy to understand Axel's will. They are like siblings. Anna is closer to Axel than the nanny they hired.

"Newly some bribe. It seems he's no longer interested." Rachel gave up, put a ceramic plate on the dining table.

"Mommy ... mommy ...." Axel rebelled petty asking to be taken down. He ran to his mother and pounded her feet softly typical of small children.

Rachel has taught and introduced Axel to her mother. Every day the boy always greeted him and tugged at the tip of Alice's shirt to invite him to play. It's just, Axel's presence is too late. The woman still did not respond to the closeness of her son. He was completely stuck with the illusory world he had.

"Dear, your mommy needs a break." Rachel holds Axel, hands him to Anna and tells him to put the little boy to sleep.

"Mary, you can rest tonight. Let Alice sleep with me." Maria nodded and immediately walked out of the dining room.

Several times a week, Rachel chooses to sleep one bed with her theme. For some reason, lately his fear of losing Alice is getting bigger just like that. Sometimes, he was very afraid if Alice suddenly fell asleep and did not wake up again. That's why he prefers to sleep with her. Hoping that if Alice suddenly chooses to give up, Rachel is by her side and makes Alice survive again.

Rachel pushed Alice's wheelchair. She hummed melodiously singing a favorite song of her theme. Rachel has a beautiful voice. He used to be a regular choir member while still in high school. At that time Alice said that her voice was like a siren. Very beautiful but surprising. Rachel just laughed at that moment. Not expecting that the person who praised him was now sitting on a wheel, helpless to live life.

Two am

where do I begin

Crying off my face again

The silent sound of loneliness

Want to follow me to bed

I'm a ghost of a girl

That I want to be most

I'm the shell of a girl

That I used to know well

Dancing slowly in an empty room

Can the lonely take the place of you

Let you go and let the lonely in

To take my heart again

Too afraid, to go inside

For the pain of one more loveless night

For the loneliness will stay with me

And hold me till I fall asleep

A sad old song by Christina Perri. A special song that seemed to voice deep pain.

...

Anson lays Kimberly gently on the cartoon bed. Kimberly's been pretty hard to put to sleep lately. He always asked Axel where he was. The two of them had formed a very deep bond, especially her daughter. Anson was forced to lie to Kimberly with things that made no sense so that the boy would not bother her again.

After Kimberly lay quite comfortably, Anson closed her son's bedroom door with a slow click. He walked down the hallway towards the open back room. Tonight, Kimberly's questions have brought Anson back to her son's memory. It had been ten days more he did not hold Axel. The smell of the boy was longed for.

Remembering Axel is the same as remembering Alice. His heart was always gripped with guilt every shadow about Alice came to his mind. He feels like the most jerk in the world.

"Is anyone bothering you tonight?" greeting William behind him, saw Anson sitting alone in the backyard of the house. The night wind felt very bad. Autumn has started to come. The air will be cooler than before.

"How is Alice doing now?" ask Anson to his loyal servant.

William was silent for a moment. He tried to string the appropriate words and not hurt his master too much.

"There has been no development" he replied, feeling a little guilty.

"Absolutely? Does Axel's presence have any effect on him?" Anson frowned inexhaustibly.

"Informanku said that Ms. White has regressed. The response is getting lower." William said shrewdly. Either way, Anson needs to know the truth.

Anson was frustrated.

"Will he be healed?"

"Maybe small. His life spirit has not improved."

William took a few steps back to observe Anson thoroughly. Anson's performances have been getting messy lately. He could barely sleep all night. His eyelids were getting darker and his face was a little pale. A new crest grows irregularly in his lower jaw. Although his presence did not reduce the dominant appearance of Anson, but his physique seemed unmanageable.

"You should pay more attention to your health, sir." William advises.

Anson was silent and did not answer. His mind was still filled with Alice's shadows. Imagining the woman weakly helpless, making her heart wither. He had an immense desire to sustain the woman with all his strength.

"Mr .... " William seemed hesitant.

Anson glanced questioningly.

"What's up, William?"

William moved uneasily, as if unsure of the celebration he was about to propose.

"Don't you better take care of her?"

Anson looked at William meaningfully. That question he often asked himself. But a big reason stopped his intention.

"We'll see if Alice's next five years can still heal. If in five years he still hasn't changed, I'll take care of him all my life" the final break.

"Why not start now?" William doesn't understand Anson's way of thinking.

"Because now he still has the possibility to recover. I don't want to hinder his healing process. Let me be a shadow to him now." Anson stared at the night. There's not a single moonlight tonight. It seems nature is expressing Anson's pain.

"If five years doesn't change, maybe that means Alice will be stuck forever with the condition. At that time I thought healing was almost impossible. Then I'll take it back. I want to take care of her myself until Alice's last breath."

"That means you've closed the possibility of marrying another woman, sir." William warned.

"I didn't plan on getting married my whole life, William. Now my focus is to see the development over these five years."

William went deeper. There was admiration from the look in the old man's eyes.

"Are you willing to wait five years? Are you willing to bear the burden of taking care of your life?"

Anson rubbed his hair slowly. He closed his eyes, and answered with confidence.

"I was even able to wait for him for fifty years. I'm more than capable of taking care of the rest of his life with my own hands."

"What if in five years he's been cured?"

Anson laughed bitterly at William's question. If in five years Alice is able to recover, it means that she will lose Alice completely.
