Aroon walked around the room with an indecipherable look. The steps without sound. Alice only dared to look at him from the corner of her eye. What was this old man thinking? Could he care about Anson?
"I suspect this, Miss. It's just, your words are like confirmation to my suspicions." Aaron tapped on the tip of the shabby footwear he was wearing. My God, this man looks like a homeless person.
"You care enough about this case apparently."
Aaron chuckled faintly at Alice's words. He took out a bottle from a large cupboard shelf on the side of the room and drank the contents directly.
"Me and Anson, consider us friends."
Alice hesitated. He looked back at this room and thought of something. What insanity does Anson have that he befriends a freak like Aaron?
His house alone had given a direct warning of how annoying this man was. All the decorations in it are only human bones that are either fake or genuine. All of them are from wood. The cottage is not managed with a thicket. If Alice had not gotten this information from Anson, she would have thought that this man was a true hermit.
But it seemed that the old man was far from being called a hermit. He looks more like a soul patient. Highlight his eyes as if showing all the dirty things he deliberately did throughout his life.
"Ehm, if so, can you help me?"
The man looked over with illegible eyes.
"Let me investigate it first."
Aaron flicked a finger, making plans in his cunning brain. He had not been in the field for a long time. This time it will be interesting.
"Let me leave my phone number so you can call me at any time." Alice hesitated. He wasn't sure if this guy had a cell phone like everyone else?
"Yes, yes, you can do that." Aaron rubbed his beard slowly. He waved his hand, telling Alice to quickly pass from her little cottage.
"Go away, I don't want to be charged with murder again if you disappear here." Aaron laughed a little. He hummed cheerfully towards the middle room.
"Sir ...," call Alice down.
"Do you need funds for this investigation?" ask Alice timidly.
Alice is not a rich ass by offering Aaron money. He just wants to launch Aaron's business. With the condition of her dilapidated cabin, Alice is not sure Aaron has enough money to even make a flight to Manhattan.
"You think I'm poor?" Aaron laughed loudly. He raised his head like a madman. My God, Alice seemed to have met the wrong person.
"No, it's just …." Alice's words were interrupted by the old man.
"I even have nine accounts in three different countries. Don't value people's abilities from the surface, Miss. You'll be easily fooled." Aaron blinked his eyes slowly, meaningfully.
Alice immediately retreated and passed away as fast as lightning. He immediately contacted Max and asked to be picked up as soon as possible. After twelve minutes had passed, Max arrived at the main road where he had left Alice earlier.
"Mis, it's a miracle to see you alive. I thought I'd hear your obituary."
Alice rolled her eyes at Max's careless words. He wanted to kick Max's shins right then and there.
…
Today Alice decided to return to Manhattan. He wasn't sure how long Aaron would be investigating, so Alice thought it best to go home first to prepare for the possibility.
Alice is picked up by Rachel. They went around town for a while to buy some stuff.
"How's your search for Aaron?" ask Rachel. He had been informed of this situation two days ago by Daniel.
Alice shuddered in horror at the figure of Aaron. He thought of the many definitions he deserved to pin on the strange man.
"Let's just say you met an oddball, a psychopath, and a murder suspect at the same time. He deserves to be called that." Alice shook her head, feeling astonished by herself.
"Wow, is he handsome and charming?" Rachel seduces.
"It's very handsome and fascinating that you're seventy and need adrenaline to hasten your death." Alice explained in a humorous tone. Just wait until Rachel sees Aaron in person. Alice assured me she couldn't dwell anymore.
"So he's already a grandfather. I wonder what ability he has so Anson can recommend him to you."
Alice pensively for a moment. He saw a murderous gaze that condensed in Aaron's eyes. Two also saw a high alertness. Aaron is like a lion with a sharp and cruel instinct. That's why Anson directed Alice to him.
"I'm guessing he's a killer and a smart psychopath." Alice was serious. He leaned his head against the back seat and felt a deep sense of comfort. This journey is really exhausting. He needs to rest his body for a moment. Slowly, Alice closed her eyes. But only a few seconds later, he is shocked by Rachel's curses.
"Alice, do you know my fiancee?" Rachel started to open the conversation.
"He's a pretty complicated guy. I never knew the real reason why she was hiding this relationship." Rachel looks a little depressed.
Alice shifted her seat and began to notice the direction of her theme talk. He felt something was wrong with a man named Harry.
"You deserve to be suspicious, Rachel!"
A healthy relationship will require a declaration. Not a stealth act. If you are engaged but forbidden to show this in public, you must wake up and immediately realize that your relationship is in pain.
"Yes. I always felt suspicious. But then he asked me to get married in two weeks. He really proved himself responsible. I feel so relieved, Alice. I have also entered thirty-one years. I want a family."
Alice looked surprised and shouted hysterically. Finally, this theme really wants to end the single period. They should celebrate this.
Rachel smiled broadly with tears in her eyes. His face showed a happy face. His imagination finally came true as well.
"Two weeks? That fast?" Alice was a little worried. For a normal size, a two-week designed wedding is a very rushed wedding.
"He himself wanted it. Our wedding was simple. Just a little reception. You have to go to him."
Alice nodded happily and laughed again. "Of course Rachel, of course."
…
Ten days had passed, Alice was busy helping with Rachel's wedding preparations. Although until now Harry's fate has not wanted to be introduced directly by him, but Alice is quite happy because she is willing to commit to her best friend. Whatever mistake Harry made to her, he will always forgive as long as Harry can make Rachel happy.
When stepping on the two days leading up to D-day, he came home too late. The house was dark with no lighting at all. It may be that this time it has entered midnight, or even early in the morning.
Alice unlocks the front room with a security alarm code. He never inconvenienced the danger if he happened to come home late so Alice always told them to turn on the alarm system after evening.
Alice scrunched her forehead. The alarm code is already flickering, signaling it is open. Did the waiters forget to activate the alarm system? Sometimes, they are really careless.
Alice opened the main door which was still shrouded in total darkness. He walked slowly to feel the wall where the light switch of the room was.
Cklek.
Bright lights illuminated the entire room. Alice turned around and nearly collapsed into a fainting spell.
Aaron, has been sitting casually on the guest chair. He looked at Alice with a sharp look. His legs crossed, as if he were the master and owner of this house.
"When are you here?" alice walked backwards.
The shock he had was still too great for him to control. Just imagine if you suddenly go home and find your house has hijacked the high security system that you apply.
Even better, the servants were not aware of the existence of the intruder. Even William. Where is the man's skill that he conceded like this? Isn't William quite an expert at keeping the house safe?
"About two hours."
Two hours and he managed to sit still without anyone knowing. Greatable. Real great.
"Aaron, I gave you my phone number."
Aaron standing around with a waist. He walked into the kitchen without any awkwardness. Alice could only follow him from behind. Honestly, he was actually scared. The kitchen is a place where there are sharp objects such as knives. This man's mind was hard to detect, it could be that he suddenly intended to kill Alice for no apparent reason.
"What I'm going to say this has to be said directly. I'm sure your phone's been tapped, considering now I know who your real enemy is."
Aaron took a cup and started busy making coffee by himself. He doesn't need permission to do whatever he wants.
Alice actually wanted to ask where the man could find out all the rooms as if he had understood all the plans of this house. But again Alice shut herself down. He didn't want to talk too much with a weird guy like Aaron. As much as possible, their conversation only revolves around the case of Anson's death.
"I've been exploring this house. You should be grateful that this house has not been fitted with a special bugging device, so that all your actions are not suspected. If they knew you'd called me, they would've been hunting you, too."
Them? Alice became more interested in this explanation.
Does that mean all this time his private conversations through cell phones have been tapped? If so, Alice should be grateful because she never had a sensitive discussion with Daniel or Rachel through a mobile phone. They usually meet in person.
"So who are they?" Alice asked curiously.
