Alice spent Tuesday afternoon swimming with Rachel at her home. Because Rachel's a waitress, she never had a weekend off. He took his holidays every week at the beginning. The weekend was a very busy day, he said.
Alice's phone rang by the side of the pool. Rachel by his side handed it to Alice.
Alice received her phone. Foreign number. Was this call from William through a different number? Maybe he asked Alice to come to Anson tonight. It should have been today that the man had returned from his business affairs, if his schedule had not changed.
"Hello."
"Hi Al, this is Daniel. How was my invitation yesterday? Have you changed your mind?" ask Daniel across the street. It seemed like Daniel's efforts seemed to be earnestly approaching him.
"Sorry Daniel, I can't seem to." Rachel who was not far from him turned her head in lightning to hear Alice mention Daniel's name. He said without a sound whether the Daniel Alice was referring to was the same Daniel first. Alice nodded confirming Rachel's guess.
"Oh come on Al. The party was a party that would be attended by many people who had incredible connections with businesses. Don't you want to try there? I have some acquaintances who might be useful for the development of your business." Alright. He must admit Daniel seduced in an extraordinary way.
"I don't know. It doesn't seem to."
"You sure? What if there later you can meet new investors or other great people who can market your residence well? no regrets about missing this opportunity?"
Alice pensive. His decision began to falter. His business does need a new, stronger investor. He needs to spread his wings.
"alright. Give me an hour. If I'm willing, I'll call you back at this number" Alice broke up. Alright. If William hadn't contacted him, it might have meant he was free tonight. What's wrong with going out?
"What's going on between you and Daniel? old story repeated?" Temptation Rachel. Alice just smiled wryly.
"No. He just took me to a party."
Rachel looked surprised. She screamed happily.
"Don't be happy first Rachel. He and I will never be there again. The story is long gone." Alice said firmly. Since her marriage to Alex, Alice has not been very trusting of marriage. He has a terrible trauma.
"Oh, what a pity. I heard he's getting good-looking and has a thick wallet. You should have been after him from the start instead of throwing yourself at your asshole Anson." Rachel is disappointed.
"Wait. Aren't you free at night?" Rachel started to remember something.
"Two nights Anson went to take care of his business. He should have gone home by now. But I wasn't contacted to go there. Maybe tonight I'm free." Alice explained. He threw himself in the pool, swam for two laps and stopped in front of Rachel. They smile at each other. Looks like Alice's going to the party tonight.
...
After feeling certain William did not contact her, Alice decided to accept Daniel's invitation. Alice was picked up by him at about seven in the evening. They went through the trip with some pleasantries.
The party was held in an early classic revival model house, a luxury classic house design that carries ancient Greek and Roman architecture. With her brown dress that impressed polite Alice mingled with other guests. Daniel leads him into a large room with a dome-like curved roof. It seems like the organizers of this party are not just anyone. Alice didn't expect Daniel to have this high of a connection.
Tonight, Daniel has kept what he promised. He introduces Alice to a fifty-year-old woman who has the potential to become an investor. They talked at length and exchanged contacts.
Daniel takes Alice around to greet the others. He looks proud to bring Alice as his companion. They had just greeted the old leaki who became Daniel's colleague when Alice found a familiar figure.
Alice frozen. His body seems difficult to move. He stared in disbelief at a man who was standing not far from him. The man was holding a sexy woman in a tight dress that revealed all the curves of her body. His black hair was carried over his head.
How could Anson be here?
Anson who felt observed turned towards him. Their views clashed with each other. The same shock in Anson's eyes. But the man soon adjusted. He looked down at Alice. On the side, the woman in the black dress grew increasingly spoiled, asking for more attention.
"Are you okay?" Daniel asked suspiciously.
"Yes, it's just ...." Alice choked. He looked at Daniel inside, as if asking him to leave here immediately. But Daniel did not understand the gesture Alice gave him. He looked at Anson and exclaimed with pleasure.
"Let's introduce you to one of my acquaintances. He's a very good man. He's the master of the property and real estate business. His assets are scattered everywhere. He might just be your investor" said Daniel eagerly, dragging Alice closer to Anson and his partner.
Oh God. Don'tdon't. Please please.
"Hello Mr. Mallories. How are you doing? I am Daniel Stranger. I was the last one to install all your business software," he said trying to remind.
Alice felt numb. It was like he was in a cheap drama. And damn, he's been a very bad artist.
"This is Alice White, my friend," he said touching Alice's arm, asking her to get closer.
Alice's hands shook slightly. He was forced to extend a hand introducing himself, as if they did not know each other. The chaotic show.
"How are you Mr. Mallory, I'm Alice White," he said stiffly. Anson let Alice's hand in the air for a moment. He seemed not interested in welcoming her. Until then when Alice will withdraw, Anson then accepts her intentions. There was a familiar vibe as their fingers interlocked. Alice was almost screaming in frustration.
"He also has a business in property as a residential home developer. The business though is not very big, but strong and growing fast. I hope you will learn about the company profile. Maybe you're interested in investing in him long-term." Daniel begins promoting Alice. He was unaware of the already awkward atmosphere between them.
"So you brought him to this event just to get him an investor? this is Mr.'s charity. Strangers. I'm not interested in business or finance. Don't be easy for women to take advantage of, if you give them a little care, they'll demand you even more." Anson said cynically.
"Sorry Mr. Mallory, I didn't mean that. Alice is not the woman you say she is. All this because of my own initiative." Daniel defends the woman beside him. He clasped Alice even tighter, as if intent on protecting.
"Is she really not that kind of woman? Women are great artists Mr. Stanger, she was able to act gracefully to cover up her low morale. Many women****** are able to dress up like a holy goddess, Mr. Stranger," he said very piercingly. All of his words were as if he was pointing at Alice.
"She's a very stable woman to me, sir." Alice was touched by every defense Daniel made for her. But he increasingly felt unworthy to stand here, being the moons of Anson.
"Is the woman you consider special worthy of your defense, Mr. Strangers. She could be a cheap woman who could throw her body at just any man just for money. You have to share your woman with another man. Nothing valuable about him at all."
Thats enough. Alice can't be here anymore. He looked at Anson with disappointment.
"Thank you for all your compliments, Mr. Mallory, I hope the woman next to you has a higher quality than me." Alice held back the anger.
"Yes. Of course he's taller than you. At least she's not a hypocritical woman and likes to pretend" he said too stabbing. Alice turned around and left all of them, ignoring Daniel's alarmed call.
Alice spent half an hour in the bathroom. He just sat on the closet doing nothing. Waiting for his anger to subside. He also needed to recover his pride first.
Alice calls Daniel and tells him that she has gone home first. It doesn't seem to have silenced Daniel. He still calls repeatedly to ask about his condition. Alice was determined not to pay attention. He's getting unseemly for a man as sincere as Daniel. He should have stayed away from her from now on.
After she calmed down, Alice came out of the toilet. Alice allowed a bit of her make-up and walked cautiously towards the direction home. He chose a slightly quiet path, avoiding crossing paths with Daniel.
After successfully exiting the gate, Alice observes the surroundings in search of a taxi. Alice is not sure this line will be passed by a taxi considering this area is an elite residential area that keeps the residents' priority tight. Looks like he will have to walk out of the area and look for a taxi on the main road later. Alice grunting. Oh come. Walking away with heels as high as ten centimeters is not a fun activity.
Not long after Alice had walked, she felt approached by a black Rolls-royce.
"Come in." A familiar voice. Belonging to someone who had previously thrown him with cruel words.
Alice smiled cynically. He looked at Anson who had stopped the car by his side. The woman in black dress who had been accompanying him had vanished. had she thrown it away? Really funny.
"No!" reject Alice.
"Don't provoke my anger. Do you want me to drag you straight?" his words are no joke. The man got out of the car and rushed towards Alice.
"All right, I'm in." Alice opened the passenger door in a hurry. He wasn't sure he could handle Anson's anger this time.
After the two of them were in the car, Anson played a classic song to break the silence. Alice laughed inwardly, feeling that the song could never be a match for the cruel man Anson.
"Are you also making a transaction on that man? how much is it worth this time?" Anson threw a stifling question. Alice didn't even know how to answer.
"It's up to you to tell me what, Anson. I really don't care" said Alice. In the eyes of Anson she is just a lowly woman, let her think badly of him.
"So you're that cheap. Is the money I give you not enough? Looking for someone else to add to your income?" Anson scoffs.
"Maybe.you know women very well, Anson." Alice closed her eyes, choosing to give up on all of Anson's charges. A thousand times he explained did not guarantee Anson was able to believe.
"In that case, let me show you what true wildness is, Alice," he promised. The look in his eyes looked at the woman beside him meaningfully.
Alice threw her face against the window, feeling increasingly stuck with the situation.
