The Rhyme of the Depositary

The Rhyme of the Depositary
072 - SEASON 2

This morning Rachel made a promise with Daniel. They had not met as friends for a long time. Rachel felt they needed to share communication and stories.

Rachel and Daniel's relationship has been getting closer since they took care of Alice together first when Alice was sentenced to be paralyzed. The friendship became a bridge between them. So in its own way, the closeness is automatically just intertwined.

Racel knew Daniel's main problem when the man chose to leave. He's leaking secrets about Klayver. Although Rachel couldn't guess what secret she was exposed to, but Rachel thought it must not be a simple matter.

Whatever Klayver's got to do, it's all sensitive. It seems that Alice's husband is not a random man. Rachel can't fathom who Klayver really is. What identity is behind it. All he knew was that there was nothing simple when it came to Klayver. Even Maxen could not guess accurately. Their instincts equally say that they should be careful as far as interacting with Klayver.

When the clock strikes at nine in Manhattan, Daniel arrives at Rachel's mansion. The man seemed to have lost a little bit of weight. There were dark circles in both of his eyes. Indicates that Daniel rarely rested enough.

"Hi Daniel? You look like a zombie. Have you been busy with your projects lately? What else are you working on?" Rachel greeted her friend at the main door.

"I'm working on a new project on a sophisticated home security method. Looks like I should start spreading my wings to try out the home and building security system. It looks very profitable." Daniel answered in passing.

Rachel directs Daniel towards the living room through many antique pieces of furniture arranged in such a way.

Many old paintings are legendary along the walls. Daniel tried to observe her at a glance and was amazed to see her intricate lines.

"Wow. Your husband must have spent a lot of money to complete the contents of this mansion. I thought you'd married the most potential billionaire, Rachel."

Daniel has only met once with her husband Rachel. It seemed like the man had a high value as far as business was concerned. It's good for Daniel to form a good connection by getting to know him more closely. Who knew Maxen could be a business path for him.

"Hahaha, maybe. I don't even know how many dollars he wasted to complete this mansion. I think a lot of the furniture here is too much. It shouldn't be this much, right? I like simple buildings." Rachel raised both her shoulders innocently.

Rachel grew up in a simple house so that even though she appreciated beauty, but still had limits in using the budget for the sake of just beautifying the house.

"For my wife, you're pretty bad. Your taste should be higher than this." Daniel explained. He sat on one of the beautifully curled chairs artistically arranged in the living room.

"Coffee?" haggard Rachel.

"Don't. I've had coffee this past month. Just make something lighter. My stomach might explode because it contains a lot of caffeine."

Rachel gave a small laugh and told a waiter named Abel to prepare lemon tea and some snacks.

"How are you, Rachel? I heard that your husband was involved in a case and is languishing behind bars." Daniel showed a face of sympathy.

It must be hard for a newlywed like Rachel to be hit by a disaster like this. It was as if the world was turning against him.

"Yes. Not always life goes well, right? But I think at least for now I can still take it. He was only sentenced for a few years. Three years the judge ruled on him in the final trial." Rachel explained. There was a cloud on his face, his smile therapy was still perfectly single.

Daniel salutes the stubbornness that his friend has. He could not help but think what strength Rachel had in the face of such a heavy blow.

Daniel hears the case that attacked Maxen is the murder of Anson. He had actually learned a lot about the matter, but now that he had confronted Rachel, he could not bear to confirm this in person.

Rachel and Alice's relationship seems to be pretty good. Maybe their problems have been solved in a family manner. Daniel Tal wanted to discuss the past problems and chose to silence his curiosity.

"Maxen's lucky to have a wife as perfect as you." Daniel commented. His eyes showed honesty. He revealed his deepest thoughts.

Having a loyal woman is a dream for men. No matter how difficult the circumstances whack, such a couple deserves to be rewarded.

"There are still thousands of fine women out there, Daniel. Find one and take it as a wife. You're thirty-one years old. Do you want to be single for the rest of your life? Oh, my God, don't let that happen." Rachel rolled her eyes and dropped her back on the back of the padded chair behind her.

There is genuine concern from Rachel for Daniel. Rachel knew that behind Daniel's appearance of trying to be indifferent, there was a little bit of a sense that she was hard to lose for Alice. That feeling had been ingrained for many years. Sometimes the old story goes too deep.

Sometimes, Rachel wants to push Daniel harder to let Alice go completely from her heart.

Daniel is a good man. He deserves his own happiness and pursues the dreams he has. There was no place for old memories to haunt him.

"Daniel, forget Alice and find another woman." Rachel revealed her pent-up heart. He rubbed the soft end of the chair by his side and hoped Daniel would listen to his advice.

"I'm starting to forget Alice, Rachel. My ambition to have it is no longer as big as it used to be. My feelings for her are no longer stirring. Time has taught me so much about things. One is to let go of someone precious."

Daniel's smile was small. He looked down at the floor below and looked down deeply.

Letting go is the greatest mantra of a lover towards the one he loves. It's hard, but it has to be.

"I know you must not believe my words." Daniel laughed a little. He lifted one of his legs and propped it up on the other.

A waiter interrupted them by delivering two glasses of cold lemon tea with a few snacks. Daniel immediately grabbed the drink and insisted on it in one go. Summer has passed. But it does not make his thirst less.

"Well, it's not." Rachel admitted to the fact. He stared at Daniel's empty glass and asked Abel to make it again.

"Trust me, Rachel. I have truly delivered Alice from my heart. There's no hope I shouldn't have for him" Daniel explained. There were no lies in her eyes, so Rachel inevitably began to believe what Daniel said.

Daniel's face darkened for a moment. He smiled and continued.

"Only, there's a huge void in my heart right now. Whoever comes, as beautiful as the woman, has not been able to move my interest. Rachel, what do you think my heart is dead? Is that a sign that I won't be able to match women as wives in the future?" Daniel sighed long, feeling worried.

When she manages to release Alice, another problem comes to a head. His heart was empty, no longer moved by anyone. Over time, Daniel began to doubt himself. Could there be anything abnormal about him? There was a part of his heart that refused every time he got close to a woman.

Could it be that his long-cherished love for Alice left such a big effect that he had some distance to others? In what other way did Daniel restore the condition of his heart.

"It's only natural that you experience that, Daniel. Long ago, after I wasn't with Harry, I felt a similar emptiness. No one can touch my heart. But believe. If the time comes for the right person to appear before you, your heart will be moved. Don't think about it too much." Rachel tried to calm down. He picked up one of the snacks and began to enjoy it slowly.

"You're sure I'll be moved if I find a suitable woman?" Daniel made sure.

Rachel nodded confidently. He's gone through a stage like that. Daniel will feel the same. It's just a matter of time.

"Auntyyy Racheeellll .. Where are you? I've been looking for you." Axel's shrill voice rang out loudly from the end of the central space.

Both Rachel and Daniel looked at each other at the same time. Staring at the face of Alice's son's plain-looking kingpin with traces of jam around his mouth. Helema ran behind Axel chasing the boy behind her. The babysitter began to fuss over Axel's overactive behavior. At the age of six years, Axel easily moved here and there to do many things.

"Hello hotshot, I'm here to accompany Uncle Daniel. Comehere! Say hello to him." Rachel waved her hand at the little boy and smiled warmly.

Axel stayed at his house from yesterday. This morning Axel was busy having breakfast on the balcony with Helena so Rachel decided not to bother him and left him when she welcomed Daniel.

"Good morning, Uncle .. Daniel." Axel looked a little thoughtful. Maybe he's starting to forget Daniel. They had not seen each other for so long that Axel's memory of Daniel had become a faint shadow.

"You've forgotten me, it turns out! Haha. Back when you were this small, "Daniel showed Axel's height with his hands seventy centimetres from the floor. "I carry you often."

Alice was going through the hardest time of her life. Not only were his legs paralyzed, but also his mind. Rachel and Daniel often accompany Alice and support her in difficult situations, including taking care of Axel.

"really? I was that small?" Axel frowned, finding it hard to imagine himself as tall as Daniel explained.

"Of course," Daniel chuckled and pulled Axel into his lap. This kid is growing up fast. He weighed four kilograms more than the last time he held her.

"How can he be with you?" ask Daniel to Rachel.

"He stayed here last night. Sometimes, if I miss, I bring the boy here to accompany me." Rachel looked at Axel with affection. To Rachel, the child was already like her own. His affection for Axel was ingrained.

"Aunty, when are you gonna drive me home? I want to go home." Axel started whining. He descends from Daniel's lap and drops himself on Rachel.

"I want to go home!" repeat again. Rachel looked at Daniel confusedly and glanced towards Helena.

He tells Helena to call the driver if Axel wants to come back soon. Daniel is still here. Rachel didn't have to leave Daniel alone.

"How about we take Axel to his house? I haven't been to Alice in a long time either. It's good to stop by Alice's house for a minute." Daniel offered himself.

"You sure?" Rachel ascertained.

"Yes. Do you need to get ready first?" Daniel asked a question again.

Rachel immediately stood up and asked for ten minutes to change clothes. Daniel uses the remaining time to tease Axel.

Unexpectedly, time was going so fast. Axel has grown into a fun boy. His face sparkled with light, revealing the typical happy of children.

That's life. Many times things pass quickly until we unknowingly age and spend thousands of seconds behind us.
