Two months have passed since the game started and there is only one month left before the game is considered to be over.
In the past few days, Sam felt the situation was a bit strange.
He was unable to find a smaller team like before and every team he found was huge in number.
Although he could escape, it was not a good idea to lure such a large team with so many transcendent stage cultivators. Actually, he could manage if it was only one team, but he would get into trouble if he met the second team while luring the first.
That is why he used some long-range hit and run tactics to lure some players out of the group by upsetting them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
But his spike in points did not decrease, instead it increased by leaps and bounds and he dared to swear that he even saw a 2000 point increase that indicated the death of a Peak-stage Transcendent beast.
He was very excited about the growth of points.
So, he was not worried about the reduction point within the forest and he was even second-guessing whether he should move towards the immortal volcanic region because what he wanted to do had happened.
After some discussion with his friends, they still decided to leave. They felt that if they moved to a perennial volcano the traffic of people would definitely increase because the volcano was supposed to have relatively lower vines compared to the Deathly Forest.
So before they begin their journey, Sam decides to act as a scout to see the path they will take. He didn't want any surprises and it turned out to be the best he did.
There was a big ambush waiting for him on the road.
The ambush was designed in such a way that it could be fatal to the group and they could hold them hostage. But it was harmless to one person as the element of surprise completely disappeared when the first wave of attacks came out.
Sam didn't bother to fight with them, he didn't care if they really predicted or somehow got word that he would come here, but for now, he said, running away is the priority.
From the energy signatures, he could sense at least twenty of them, but once he saw the people ambushing, he could not help but frown. It's a little suspicious than he thought. There were only Pre-transcendent stage cultivators in the ambush.
There were no transcendent stage cultivators, or Perfect realm cultivators. This made Sam doubtful. Pre-transcendent stage cultivators were easy to take care of, even if they were more numerous and their cultivation was slightly higher, he could still deal with it.
But he had a faint hunch that something was wrong. And his premonition was right because by the time he hesitated a little, he was already bound in formation together with these twenty people.
Sam scanned the formation with an energy vision and noticed that although it was not so complicated, it was rather time-consuming if he opened it normally.
He only floated at the maximum height allowed by the formation and held two pistols in his hand and aimed one at the formation while the second aimed at the cultivators who jumped towards him.
He kept shooting as he kept them all busy with one hand, the cultivators in ambush noticed that the formation was shot by something that could create an explosion of energy and became anxious.
They paid the price to arrange an ambush like this, they did not want to waste it.
So, they risk everything and attack Sam with a suicide attack.
Sam was a little surprised by this kamikaze attitude. He could stand it no longer and dropped the energy cells from the hoverboard.
The group closest to him was blown up and Sam started shooting at them quickly without caring about the formation.
His premonition might be right and they might even try to lure others into dealing with him, but if he was fast enough, there was nothing the group could do.
He shot out quickly and immediately all the cultivators lying on the ground either in pain or without any movement indicating their death. Sam caught the leader rolling in pain and asked what his plan was about while injecting light element energy into him.
The leader had already lost hope of an ambush, but now that Sam was questioning him, he only answered directly.
"We didn't know you were coming here, we arranged ambushes on all routes leading out of the forest of death."
Sam was puzzled by this answer, but at this exact moment, the leader made a sudden move that shocked him. But he still managed to escape with just a small scar on his wrist and a hint of blood dripping onto the ground.
They decided to wait while scouting the situation around the forest and find out the plans of their enemies.
As he discussed what he should do with his friends, something else happened on the battlefield from where he had just come.
Transcendent stage vampires came with flying beasts and landed in the middle of the battlefield. He did not care about the corpses of vampires and humans lying around him, he only looked around with glowing red eyes as he searched around.
And soon he stopped somewhere before making some autographs. The faint soul clump belonging to the ambush leader reappeared and the soul did not even speak anything and simply pointed somewhere near his corpse before disappearing.
The vampire walked towards him and saw the blood falling on the ground, although mixed with the ground, he crouched down and sniffed. He closed his eyes as if he was sniffing the greatest delicacy.
He was surprised by his own actions. He had just collected the bloodied land and left the place. He did not even bother to clean the corpses of his fellow members and returned to the Vampire King's house.
At night he returned and reported to the Vampire king as he handed the container with bloody earth.
"Your Majesty, I think there is something different about this man, I almost lost control and ate the blood from that land on the way. The blood's too good."
The Vampire King was surprised a little and said.
"No problem, you get the job done, I'll check it out and find out what's special about him."
After the transcendent stage cultivator left, the vampire king finally opened the container and sniffed. He closed his eyes as he felt the sensation that this smell had caused him.
It's almost like the smell of the most addictive drug.
He could sense that his blood was much purer and the quality was too high for a normal human to possess. Since the first plan that was an ambush and holding Sam has been lost, they can only proceed with the second plan. He still had a second thought, but now he had some hope.
He went to the deepest part of the mansion and entered the basement.
There was a large well in the middle of the room.
He walked to the edge of the hole and gulped anxiously as he took a very small sample of the soil and dropped it.
There was a huge grumbling sound from the hole and immediately a blood red light shone.
This made the eyes of the Vampire-King sparkle with excitement.
He could not help but smile and that smile turned into a grin and soon he laughed like a madman.
"Maha, uhahaha.."
The entire mansion was startled by the sudden laughter from their king and the fact that they knew what kind of crisis they were going through and this sudden laughter was something they could not understand given their suffering.
Some of the close aides of the king even ran into the basement but stopped at the door because they did not have access to the inside.
But soon they were relieved that the laughter had stopped and the King returned.
"Tell the two Kings, we proceed to the second step of the plan. I want the resources as soon as possible."
News of the Vampire king laughing like a madman spread throughout the Vampire realm and even the Wight king and Ghoul King knew this.
Inevitably they called for a second meeting after hearing the news of his joyous invitation for resources to begin the second step of the plan.
After all, the main problem of the second step of the plan was not Sam escaping and living after that, there was something else entirely and the vampire king had to piss his pants now. But he laughed and felt happy that didn't suit them.
