The next day the Principal of the Starwood academy was in a very good mood because he felt that he was getting one of those money-snawing brats, Sam. That was why, she was full of smiles from the morning as she followed, she attended her duties.
But this smile did not last long as he met the two people waiting for him in his office. He furrowed his brows as he recognized them as Artisan and his assistant running a business in the city. He was good at making chariots and all the chariots in the noble families and merchants were made by him. When the Headmaster saw him, he was quite confused. He invited them to the office and asked them.
"Why do you want to see me?"
"Master, I'm here to collect payment for the order." The man who seemed to be the boss said in a low voice.
"payments? I don't remember ever making a deal with you and even the academy didn't have any business. Are you here by mistake?" The principal is confused.
"No, Sir. If you see this, you'll understand." He said as he handed the letter to the principal he picked up and read. As soon as the Headmaster read the contents, he immediately got angry and wanted to punch someone in the face. But he forced himself to calm down and looked at the boss in front of him and asked.
"Did this happen yesterday?"
"Yes sir" said the boss. Although, he was an artisan, he was only rank 1 and did not have much status because his skills were low. That's why, he started using his knowledge to make a carriage, not a weapon. He was nervous, when the 'it' guy came to his shop yesterday and ordered on behalf of the Headmaster. But he quickly dismissed that thought because he knew that someone with 'it' status did not have to bother making him go against the Headmaster to deal with him. That was why, he became more confident and came looking for the Headmaster to pay the bill. But seeing the Headmaster's expression, he began to doubt his decision.
The headmaster suddenly sighed and looked away from the letter and asked. "How much is the bill?"
"5000 spirit stones." Said the person slowly looking at the Headmaster's expression and as expected, he saw the Headmaster's expression turn dark and ugly and he immediately explained himself.
"Master, He gave us a special order and his own design, including the materials to be used. If you want, you can see it." Boss passes through big rolls. The Headmaster looked at the exquisite sketches and designs of the various components and became impressed, but when he saw the list of required ingredients, he almost vomited blood from anger. He restrains his anger and returns the reels to the boss and completes the joint Payments. The boss left the academy happily.
After making sure no one was around, the Headmaster immediately roared furiously while tearing the letter apart.
"DORAMMMMM"
He became very angry with the letter. His words were written like this. 'Honorable Head of School, yesterday when we discussed the travel arrangements, you only mentioned about my beast and forgot to mention about the carriage. So, as a humble student, I picked it up myself and booked a tailor-made train for our team and I am writing this to remind you of completing the payment. You do not need to thank me because it is my responsibility to help you do these small tasks. – Sam.'
The Headmaster immediately understood Sam's intention to obtain a new carriage at a cost from him. But he cannot lose face and be ashamed by revealing the truth. Because, if he were to uncover the truth, he would have to crack down on Sam for blatantly using the name of the Headmaster that he obviously could not do. That was why, he could only curse in his heart. Just when he thought he was taking advantage of the boy, he made him lose another 5,000 spirit stones.
Meanwhile in the riverside mansion, Sam had just come out of the river after swimming and started walking towards the mansion. Two panthers also followed him while jumping around playfully. Even though they are big now, they play like children.
Sam dried himself normally without using any spiritual energy. He tries his best to live like a normal human being whenever he can and bathing and sleeping and even eating regularly is for the same reason. After she changed into new clothes, she went to a room where a large table was there and a scroll was installed on it. Sam looked at the half-finished design and thought hard. He moved to another small table at the side, which was filled with all sorts of calculations and writings.
He was trying to design things that he missed. His calculations were to make a watch and he designed it on the scroll. After that he had to think of a way to utilize the resources to run a motor vehicle. In fact, he wanted to create a machine filled with inscriptions to convert the spiritual energy in the spiritual stone into the required shaft power. But he immediately rejected the idea because, this would use complex inscriptions and high-level skills and experiments on them, which were limited by the level of his cultivation. That was the reason he rejected that thought and the other reason was, this world did not have something like a patent and if a high rank inscription master obtained this, it would not be possible, it would make his efforts in vain as they could easily mimic it.
But he was still in contemplation about what kind of fuel he should make and whether he could continue with his initial thoughts.
He then looked at the design again and began drawing the remaining components of the watch. He was slow and steady as he took his own sweet time, because even if he could design this faster, he couldn't make a watch, either, due to the lack of materials when he included various sand meteorites in his design.
He continued to draw while trying to keep himself busy. Because, lately Sam feels a little bloated and can not calm down. The cause was the overflowing spiritual energy within him. He was at the limit of his Acolyte Level, but he was unable to break through easily because, he needed to exchange energy with his contracted beast. Although at a later stage, he was able to break through directly, at his current cultivation level, he was unable to do this because at the basic cultivation level, he had to improve along with the ferocious beasts, he was unable to do this, so that it can have maximum efficiency. That was why he completely let go of anything related to spiritual energy and only concentrated on designing his new component.
This continued as he maintained his daily routine like a normal engineer from the earth and worked on his design slowly.
But his city life isn't as boring as Sam's. The Headmaster announced the city about the selection tournament and the noble families, becoming excited as their speculation became true. They were all filled with the hope that their geniuses would be chosen, because the selection criteria was potential rather than cultivation level and made their plans to make their children perform better.
All assessments are conducted inside the test site and the assessment this time is not against the students but rather there are several paths to assess their potential in various aspects.
But Sam was unaware of this because he was among a pile of paper rolls and kept doing his job.
Shortly thereafter, the assessment is complete and there are only two days left before they can begin the journey to the cliff town of Falcon and Sam finally gets a message from the Headmaster to meet with the other teammates to get along before go to the competition. Sam also needs to visit the Evergreen family to retrieve the blazing earth bull, so he travels to the academy first.
When he reached the academy, a senior student accepted him and then took him to a room that already had ten people waiting for him.
Upon entering the room, he saw the Headmaster speaking to the nine people sitting in front of him and felt a little surprised when he saw some familiar faces there. Philip, Freya, Haley, Kelly, Jack sat down with four other people. He doesn't recognize anyone else.
But the one who got the big surprise was not him but the others in the room. They all felt strange at first when they realized that the new student who came, Sam did not participate in the assessment and now that they saw him here, they were shocked. 'So, he's already on the team.' They all thought and understood the strange selection of 9 members, because the 10th member was already decided.
Among those shocked gazes was one look of disdain. Sam came out of his daydream and walked towards the Headmaster.
"Hello Mr." He greeted her with an indifferent face. The other people also came out of their daydreams and looked at Sam.
"Hello, Sam, sit down." He said pointing at the chair.
Sam nodded and sat down without greeting anyone. He simply gave a glance to his friends before turning around to look at the Headmaster.
"Now, after all the participants are here, I will say a few words. We're going to the cliff town of Falcon the day after tomorrow. The ten of you will represent Starwood city in the tournament to be held by the Count himself. There would be teams from other cities under the jurisdiction of the Count and people from the Falcon Cliff city would also participate in them. I can't tell you what the prize is, but the test will be done in various aspects and the winners will get recognition and rewards beyond imagination. I hope you will prepare well and work hard to represent our city and academy." The Headmaster spoke as he looked at the ten participants.
"Sir, how many days will this tournament be held?" Philip asked while raising his hand.
"I'm not so sure. But you'll know once we get there. Me and the City Lord will accompany you all. Eisen, you'll be the team's manager." The headmaster said as he looked at someone and the man stood up. He was the one who looked at Sam with disdain. Sam saw three stars in his chest. He seems to be in the early stages of the Beginner.
"Master, you mean I'm the team leader?" Eisen asked as he looked straight at the Headmaster. The last one nodded.
"I have reservations about the team." He said in a proud tone. The Headmaster raised his eyebrows as he stared at Eisen.
"What's that?" The headmaster asked in a low voice.
"I don't want someone who uses his status to get into the team through the back door. This is completely unfair to the team members." Eisen said as he looked straight into the Headmaster's eyes without noticing the change in expression on the other members. But everyone could understand that he was talking about Sam and then they all looked towards him. They wanted to see how Sam would react to it, but all they could see was a cold, emotionless, and indifferent face without any reaction. Then they heard the reaction from others.
"So, Eisen. You mean the Headmaster of this academy, I am a person who is affected by the status of people and opens the back door without considering their abilities." The headmaster asked as his voice sounded slightly colder.
Eisen was stunned for a moment when he heard this. He really did not dare to agree with what the Headmaster said. How could he agree that the Headmaster was an immoral person? That would be death. Even if he really felt it, he would not dare to say that.
"No Sir. I mean that someone might have used their status to threaten ......" He started off in a confused tone and was interrupted by the Headmaster.
"Enough. I'm not going to ask for your opinion and I don't care. You are only a team leader because of your cultivation level. Don't think that you have a say in the selection of team members just because I gave you a position. . You better shut the fuck up. Everyone can go. Meet me at the Academy gate the next morning. You guys can disperse."
