The sky was dark and night was coming. But at the Falcon cliff city testing grounds, neither the spectators nor the candidates were ready to leave. Right now, all the spectators were staring at a certain disbelief. They were shocked because of the achievements that the person had achieved.
The person though, smiled and spoke nothing more. Sam looked at Philip who was standing beside him as if nothing had happened.
Philip had just walked out of the tower, but he shocked everyone with his appearance. The person responsible for announcing the results also looked at him in disbelief. When entering the tower, it looks like Jack. Quickly level up easily. It did not surprise them, but the fact that he needed less than half the time to complete the same twenty-three level where Jack had almost fainted left them shocked.
When everyone thought he was going to try the next floor, he retreated and returned smiling as if nothing had happened. If not for the fact, that Sam noticed some signs of exhaustion on his face, no one would have believed that he reached such a high score in the tower of willpower.
After a while, Sam took a step forward and coughed to get the attention of the officer in charge of the score. The officer came out of a daze and shouted the result.
"Prospective Philip. The twenty-third floor. Back off the twenty-fourth floor. Twenty-three points."
After recording the score, he beckoned Sam to enter the tower.
Sam walked inside the tower and was puzzled to see the wall in the room. The walls of the room were filled with secret diagrams. Sam instantly recognized what technique was used to create this structure. This structure is done with a technique called etching inscription. To be able to use this technique one must be proficient in inscriptions as well as painting arts. But judging from the complexity of his secret array, it was definitely some kind of formation which meant that he also had to become a formation master. Sam looked into the room and only saw a circular platform in the middle of the room that looked like a seating arrangement. He walked to the platform and sat down.
As soon as he sat down, he felt a jolt in his mind as his consciousness dissipated. When he opened his eyes, Sam saw himself in a familiar place. This was the path he used to live on when he lived in the stone village of Lava. As Sam began to look around, he saw someone he knew standing some distance away from him.
The person in front of him was none other than the Village Chief of the Lava Rock village. He walked towards Sam with an evil look in his eyes. "How dare you hurt my son? I'll kill you today." The village chief said in a cold tone. Sam looked at the village chief coldly. He tried to move but he felt his strength was completely suppressed by the aura of the village chief. Sam felt a cold sweat, but he did not waver. His strength seemed weak in front of the village chief and he felt like he would die at any moment. Danger loomed over his heart as he saw the village chief walking towards him.
Sam closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. 'Even I have to die. I'll at least die trying.' He thought in his head as he moved and jumped towards the village chief. He clenched his fists and punched the other party in a daze, but the other party did not dodge at all. The moment his fist made an impact to the other party's face.
*BOOM*Sam woke up shocked. His mind felt a buzzing sensation. He was very familiar with this feeling. This was the acceleration of time he felt in the tower when he was doing the simulation.
Sam slowly stood up and looked at the marks on the wall as he tried to understand the test. When he entered the illusion, his memory seemed to be erased. He only saw the stronger Village Chief and himself being in a confrontation and he was in a helpless situation.
He feels weak. He didn't even think that this was a test and not a reality. Not even a hunch crossed his mind.
Sam thought in contemplation. 'Here losing a battle is not an actual loss. Losing a battle without even having the will to fight was an actual loss'. He seemed to understand what a test of will was.
He slowly walked towards the entrance that was open for him to enter the next floor. When he entered the next floor, he saw that the room was similar to the one on the first floor. But the only difference is that the walls of the second floor have a more complex secret structure.
"This tower is clearly not made by the people of this city. This is a level too high for them to make. I wouldn't believe it even if they beat me to death." He thought hard and sat on the platform again.
Sam felt his memory was gone. His consciousness floated as he walked into another familiar scene. The testing grounds of Starwood's academy, Carl and his friends surround him as he feels his entire body convulsing in pain and bleeding with multiple wounds. They all looked at him with evil looks...
On the third floor, Sam entered another familiar place, the healing experiment lab in the tower, he felt his body tied to a chain used to hold the green scale lizard. Albert and Alfred walked towards him...
The fourth floor,
Fifth floor, the,
.
.
.
He wanted to live; he did not want to die and he really did not want to die at the hands of these people. But he saw the look in the eyes of these people who had no emotions but extreme anger in their eyes. There's only one way for him. Life or death trying. He swung his golden scythe as his blade pointed into the air and slashed at the person in front of him...…
Sam opened his eyes as he looked at the wall and shook his head. He felt dizzy all over his body as he recalled that sensation. In ten situations, Sam has always met an enemy stronger than him and all this time he has no memory or recollection that this is an illusion for the test.
All he had in mind was the level of his strength in the situation, the level of his enemy's strength and the difference between the two. His helplessness, his despair. That was the only thing on his mind and the test of how he would deal with it.
At all times, the only test he had to do was how he could cope with the situation. Every time he had no choice but to die from his helplessness. But his judgment lies in the way he died. Did he die trying or did he give up? That's the basis of evaluation.
Sam slowly stood up and walked towards the eleven-story staircase and entered the other room. This room is almost similar to the previous rooms, but the walls are carved with different rune shapes from other times.
Meanwhile, outside. People are numb to the surprise now. They saw how fast Sam was moving on the tenth floor and the eleventh floor, they felt dejavu and they stared at the candidate who cleared the floor quickly.
Sam looked to a platform and a different kind of secret pattern than before.
He did not know what kind of changes would occur to this type of illusion, but those changes would definitely exist.
Sam went to the platform and sat down. He closed his eyes slowly and once again there was a jolt in his mind.
Sam opened his eyes only to see and the endless desert before his eyes, he saw miles of sand covering the earth as far as his eyes could see. He had nothing but the clothes he was wearing. The scorching sun and the hot sand below gave a burning feeling to his body. He tried to use his spiritual energy but nothing happened. He tried a few more times and only then did he realize, he was an ordinary human being. Now, he was none other than an ordinary person who was startled among the endless desserts. He looked around a little and then chose a direction where he could see the faint shadow of the mountain range and started walking.
He walked neither fast nor slow, he simply maintained his pace and walked without concern for the sun and heat. Immediately, he found a dead tree on the road but not caring about it and walked forward, his throat started to feel dry, his cloth was soaked in sweat, he dehydrated very quickly. But he didn't stop.
After walking quite a distance, Sam froze in place. The dead tree appeared again, He looked for a while and just thought that it might be another tree and he might feel dejavu. He walked past him, this time his body became dry, his cloth that was soaked by sweat also started to dry up. He felt an unimaginable thirst, he walked for a long distance again.
He saw a dead tree coming again. His heart screamed in despair, he felt that something was wrong. He slowly walked towards the tree and with the little bit of strength he left behind, he broke the small end of the branch and took it with him. This time her skin started to crack and her lips broke.
After a long distance again, he saw the dead tree again, he walked towards it and looked at the end of the branch, he pursed his lips and placed the broken end on the branch, which was clearly a match, which was clear, his heart became cold. He loomed in despair. He saw dead trees and mountains that looked far away. He thinks. 'Am I going to die like this?' Then he shook his head and thought again. "I'll try until the last breath."
He took a step forward with determination and walked towards the mountains. He walked for miles. His legs started bleeding, he met a dead tree again but this time he did not stop, he increased his steps and walked again, after a while his legs gave up, he crawled with his hands, he crawled with his hands, his hand gave up he was still crawling with the rest of his strength. Clothes tattered. His body was full of blisters due to the sand and was bleeding. He could not see what was in front of him, but he did not stop. Soon, he felt weak and tired. He closed his eyes and exhaled his last breath and the last thing he saw was a dead tree he saw for the tenth time.
Sam opened it and looked at the platform. He shook his head to dispel that feeling. His body was sweating coldly. He stood up from the platform and walked towards the door for the next floor. He thought what would be his next test. He walked towards the room on the next floor and sat on the platform and closed his eyes again.
Sam opened his eyes and he felt his whole body wet and looked around in a daze. He was floating in the endless ocean, he instinctively started kicking his legs to stay afloat. Memory's empty. He doesn't remember anything. All he had in mind was that he fell into the sea and he had to move to be safe.
Sam started swimming and he did it in the direction where he could see an island. He swam at a moderate speed to maintain his stamina. He swam for miles and just when he thought he was going to reduce the distance and look towards the island; he only saw the same black dot that he had seen when he had just arrived. Sam looked around and started swimming again........
Sam opened his eyes on the platform and walked towards the next platform.
Meanwhile, outside.
The audience looks at the tower. They saw Sam clear the level, just like any other top scorer. They don't wait for him to make a good score or not. There is more inclination on the thought, whether or not he will beat the score that Jack has set. They waited in anticipation and they were not the only ones.
"How far do you think he's going?" Hawk asked Kelly who was standing next to him. Jack stood with them. He had enough rest to stand up and Philip looked at Hawk and Kelly to hear what he was going to think.
"I don't know. But I hope, he'll make it." Kelly replied in a sweet tone. Freya and Haley were sitting a bit away from them. They feel sad with low results. Both scored 14 and 15 points respectively. They did not even see what the third set of tests, which was twenty-one in the ward. Now only they understand that they are full of themselves. Even Philip who was always playing around and had an enormous 'average talent' compared to them defeated them. They sighed and looked at the tower as the other floor shone brightly.
