Sam tried his best to fix it, but he was already a bit late, maybe he should have become more determined and early as well.
Because that night, while he and Philip were working on some armor, the Minotaur made the first significant attack.
For the first battle at the city gate, the Minotaur damaged the town hall more than the soldiers, it was due to the lack of long-range attack methods and their lack of ability in taming ferocious beasts.
But now the situation has changed. They have catapults of various sizes. From a small size that could pierce a medium-sized stone to targeting soldiers on the wall and a larger size that could pass through the wall and land directly on the city destroyed the residents. There are all sizes.
Not only that, the Minotaur joined a group of other troops riding some flying beasts.
Dwarves were also not that great at taming, but it was not because of their talent, they did not care much about the support of ferocious beasts and always believed in doing everything themselves, either, but they knew better than not having anything that could sustain an air strike.
They also have flying troops. Their only advantage is numbers.
But the Minotaur attack surprised them because they did not expect the flying troops did not stop at their headquarters, but rather they immediately attacked.
When the two air forces clashed, the thing that had the potential to damage the balance turned out to be a catapult.
When they placed the stones and injected spiritual energy into the catapults, the stones suddenly lit up with dark gray flames and even the power of the stones increased as they fired catapults.
The dwarf archers and the wall guards all tried their best to shoot down the stones that were fired towards them.
Some stones just hit the wall and were crushed. But the flame got stuck on the wall and kept burning.
Even the ground filled with stone fragments was still lit up.
When Sam heard the sound of an explosion, he ran out of the house only to see a large stone burning with gray fire flying into the city and crashing into a wooden hut.
Sam ran to the place as fast as he could and when he saw the scene, he could not help but take a cold breath.
The entire hut was in disarray and burning with gray flames. Even the people inside were burning as they wriggled and rolled on the ground in pain.
Sam threw a burst of water at them, but to his surprise, it did not stop the flame. He used his eye technique to see what was happening and only he realized that his flesh was not burning. But his vitality is over. Sam had seen this before, but he didn't want to believe it.
If this was true, then they were in deeper trouble than he thought.
There were three people burning with fire and Sam ran to one person and started using the light element energy to control vitality.
His flame sucked in vitality when it was brightly lit, so Sam tried his best to limit the vitality from moving. After seeing some reactions, he stretched out his hand and did the same to the second one. He looked at the dwarves and the humans surrounding them and shouted.
"Don't group, disperse, and don't touch the fire. If any of you are a healer, try to heal the third person, no matter what reaction they give, continue to drain vitality quickly."
Sam continued to limit his vitality and he could see the flames dwindling and finally, someone stopped writhing in pain and the flames disappeared. He will move on and focus on the third person as well. But it's too late.
The gray flames had already disappeared leaving the person with pale skin. The man stood up awkwardly and jumped towards Sam who was still focusing on the second person.
Sam dodged the attack and looked at the man. He was no longer alive, he turned into an undead.
Sam clenched his fists as he looked at the second person he had saved, due to this small disturbance, he had already burned out faster and the process had only become faster. Sam could see it turning into an undead.
He pointed his hand at the two of them as the golden flames pierced through. He simply threw the flames in the form of jets while burning them until their bones melted.
The surrounding people stared at him in shock, but before they could say anything, the next wave of attacks had already been aimed at the city. Fortunately even with the people behind them, the Minotaur was a little stupid and they seemed to have no idea about the true effects of the boulders and flames, he said, they mostly attacked the walls and doors to tear them down and only a few large stones flew up into the sky.
He called out an omen and shot into the air as he threw two energy cells towards the two large stones and directed his golden flames towards the third one.
The two remaining large stones were blasted by an energy explosion and did not cause much damage to the city.
At this moment, all of his teammates were running towards Sam's location. If not for the fact, that the savage beast had not unsealed it, they would have come as well. But now they were devouring middle-class bread like crazy and burning energy to digest it as quickly as possible.
When he sees his team-mates, Sam starts issuing orders.
"Don't let a single stone pass through the wall and don't even touch it. No matter what the dwarves say don't stop."
At this moment, several guards had already come to the scene, Sam looked at them and asked.
"Where is your commander?"
He asked in a somewhat domineering voice. They couldn't even answer with their mouths and just showed directions.
Sam looked at Chatur and Arman. "Try your best to control the mess. If there's a big rock passing by, predict its trajectory and try to get rid of the people there and smash it."
Sam disappears from the spot and within minutes, he meets the commander, who guides the archer to shoot down the boulders.
If it was in the normal world, it would be impossible. But what surprised Sam even more, were a few archers and guards caught with gray flames.
They did not take the full load off the stone and were only a few pieces and they were not fully caught and the fire only lit up in the armor.
He did not even stop and ran towards them and used his sword to cut through the armor.
But right after he had done it for three people, the commander ran over and stopped his pace.
"Commander, that gray fire is dangerous, it will turn people into undead. Half of the soldiers had a gray flame burning in their armor, they should not touch it with their hands, have them remove the armor, it was useless again."
Sam said as he continued this, the dwarves were startled by his movements and thought that Sam might be a spy from the other side.
But only after listening to his words did they regain their senses and begin to feel panic.
The commander was still hesitant and just as he was about to say something, Sam's voice sounded.
"Commander, I'm still showing respect to you as the host, but if you say one word of skepticism about me, I'm done with that. I'm telling you that something's wrong from day one, but you won't listen, if you don't take action now, don't blame me for the consequences. I take the assignment from Veer and I will complete it no matter what and at whatever cost. Even if it means killing you and the head of the city numb .
So, listen to me and do something about this situation or get ready to die."
Sam left those words and looked at the situation behind the wall. He could not help but breathe in the cold air.
There were more catapults than he thought and they had not been active, but once they were all active, they would not do anything else.
Sam took out two Javelins from his storage and started injecting fire element energy into it. The two javelins were filled with fire element energy and he threw one of them at Catapult.
As Javelin cut through the air and went to Catapult, a Minotaur with Pre-transcendent stage cultivation used his battle hammer to attack Javelin. After the devastating explosion, the minotaur was pushed a few steps back and even the Catapult formation was activated. There was a defensive formation, which could receive several Pre-transcendent level blows.
Sam coldly looked at the Minotaur and began to circulate the energy. Waves of energy passed through his body and entered the spear. He slammed his feet against the surface of the wall and a small crack appeared as he threw the javelin at full force.
The javelin disappeared into a flash of gold and the Minotaur panicked. He did not hold back at all and used all of his energy to attack Lembing as if his life depended on her.
But this time, the situation was different. The javelin passed through the hammer and sent the Minotaur flying towards Catapult at the same time breaking through the formation and exploding. When the dust settles, half of the catapult is destroyed and is clearly not suitable for firing anymore.
But Sam was not at all happy, as he was panting on the wall. The energy needed to destroy catapults is enormous.
