Sam and his group spend the night by the river and begin their journey the next day. While the only remaining team, consisting of only three members, stayed in the same place, without moving at all.
Hawk took the scroll and opened up some of his cultivation. He is at the initiation of the 6th stage now. Although it was extremely low, he could roam the forest as he pleased, but the main thing was that the two people left with him were severely injured and unable to move freely like him. That's why they plan to stay in the same place for the day.
Sam and his team though, they were tired of it being lost with good sleep and the food they had. They started exploring the forest. They met some small beasts and ferocious beasts with considerable strength were very rarely seen.
They found some animals that gave him some points and the fourth day ended just like that with their last point.
Sam – 74
Jack - 62
Eve and Shor-50
On the fifth day, they returned to explore. At the moment Eve and Shor are very happy with their decision to follow Sam back then. But they also felt a little guilty when thinking about their points.
After all, they didn't do much but they got a good share.
"Sam, thank you so much." Shor thanked him as they walked.
Sam looked at her suspiciously about her sudden gratitude. Then Eve explained from the side.
"We didn't really help you much, but you still gave us more than enough points. Thank you very much."
"You shouldn't thank me. You should be grateful to those who did not agree to join us." Sam replied and did not explain further.
Both Shor and Eve were confused and looking at them, Jack explained with a smile. “Actually, it won't make any difference whether there are two extra people or six extra people with us. Because, he can't trust you completely. Damn, he doesn't even trust me completely and any traps or plans he makes are extremely detrimental and dangerous in the event of an accident. So, he always does most of the work and gives me some important tasks because he trusts me more than you guys.
So, if there were an additional four more people, he would not take any points from my account. Instead, they will share the miscellaneous tasks you do as well as the points you earn. So, you should thank the remaining members, who did not come here."
As Jack explained, Eve and Shor were stunned for a moment. They did not think the reason was this. But still they felt that the points were rather high even with that reason. After all, Sam could only take more than half of himself, just for the plan he made.
After that they did not talk much, and moved normally. But suddenly Eve fainted.
The three of them immediately examined him and saw the snake bite marks on his ankles. Sam immediately pulled out a rope from the bag and tied it tightly around the wound to keep the poison from spreading.
Then he immediately broke the token.
Sam and Jack looked around vigilantly to find the snake. Meanwhile Shor was really scared. When Sam finally found the snake that was already some distance away, he immediately attacked with his movements.
Jack saw a serious expression on his face and immediately got a warning.
Sam turned towards Shor and said. "The situation is a bit dangerous; I think it's better if you go."
Shor nodded and immediately broke his token without complaining. After all, he had more than enough points to obtain a higher rank and he was confident that he would rank extremely high.
Then Sam pointed in the direction and Jack and the two started running in a direction, where there was open ground.
When they got to the place, Sam looked around and felt that the place was a little better and the chances of the snake sneaking towards them were smaller.
"What's the situation?" Jack asked as Sam calmed down a little.
"Actually, this is the situation with the greatest danger and the greatest opportunity we encounter" Sam said as he looked at the horizon.
"What do you mean?"
"The snake that bit Eve earlier was actually an evolved beast. But its combat potential is the lowest of any snake species. But they have special abilities. They can only sneak up on their opponents but when they bite people, this poison is actually deadly. It mainly works against cultivators and magical beasts." Sam paused for a while before continuing.
“Ular that was a blood-stained snake. Actually not only bit people, but also suck as much blood as possible. The color is actually green. But once filled, it would appear blood-colored dappled on his back.
But this is not the main reason they are dangerous. The poison they injected into would grow rapidly within one's body by absorbing spiritual energy. If you are bitten once, if you are not strong, it will kill you with your own spiritual energy.
What is more dangerous is that this snake unlike other snakes lives in groups and there is a king snake, which will absorb the blood of all the snakes and evolve itself. If all the snakes and kings were to work together, someone with a higher overall cultivation level would have the same situation as the person with the same cultivation as them."
"In that case, isn't it quite dangerous. We are normal human beings. What kind of opportunity are you talking about?" Jack asked confusedly.
"Well, as I said. They all worked together was indeed dangerous, but they could only attack secretly. It would be deadly if someone did not know of their presence near them, but now we already know that we might get a chance.
Right now our cultivation is sealed is a considerable opportunity. The only dangerous thing about this snake for us is blood loss. Even Eve fainted from blood loss. It would take a lot of time for the poison to reach the spiritual core.
If we are careful enough, we can succeed. After all, the danger is directly proportional to the reward we get. Do you want to try?" When Sam finished explaining, Jack sank into deep contemplation.
Just as he was about to say something, a loud shout sounded from the distance.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Sam and Jack immediately exchanged glances and started running towards the shout. The sound is familiar to both. When they get to the spot, they see Kelly trying to drag Hawk, another man who just helped see the snake and immediately leaves Hawk and breaks his token to escape.
Sam and Jack exchanged glances and immediately helped Kelly. Kelly finally saw hope when she saw Sam and Jack. He almost fell into despair.
Sam and Jack take Kelly and Hawk and run. When they saw that no snakes were following them anymore, they finally stopped.
Sam immediately searched Hawk's pocket for tokens, then he asked Kelly. "Where's the token?"
“Entah. When he entered the cave alone, we saw nothing, but he immediately felt weak and collapsed there. Me and the other team-mates, went inside and dragged him out. Once we get to a certain distance, the snake still follows us." He didn't say the rest but Sam and Jack could understand, what happened.
Sam thought about where the token would be and could not help but frown. He checked Hawk's condition and the wrinkles deepened.
"Did he unseal his cultivation?" Sam asked in a heavy voice. Kelly nodded and he immediately became more serious.
"It's serious. If we don't do it fast, he'll die. The Elders would not interfere without damaging his token. We need to find the token as soon as possible." When Sam finished talking, Kelly started crying. He looked at Sam with hope and supplication. Hawk was a close friend from childhood.
In fact, Sam could actually leave them and continue on his way and if Hawk was really a stranger, he might even leave him without batting an eye.
But he had a pretty good impression of Hawk. He had a pretty good heart and was unlike other young masters who were arrogant beyond his means. He really did not want a positive person like this to die at such a young age.
After a while, he climbed a tree and like an agile monkey, he started jumping from tree to tree. All of this as he looked to the ground to search for tokens. He didn't find anything.
When he approached a cave attached to a hill. He was puzzled to see that the cave was a nest of Blood-stained snakes.
This cave is actually quite open and also not deep. There will be a distance of at most 30 feet from the entrance to the wall where two coils are attached. One was a scroll he had never seen before and the other was a point scroll. There was a huge snake with some faint red stripes over its green skin near the wall. This is the king of snakes.
When Sam did not find the token outside, he clearly knew where it was and it made him feel cautious.
He soon returns and meets Jack and the Others.
"I didn't find that token on the way. It must be in the cave. Hawk has less than two hours to save her. We need to find that token as soon as possible."
Kelly and Jack were silent at the thought of this. They have absolutely no idea what to do. They only looked at Sam in the hope that he would have a way out of this situation.
Sam pursed his lips and said. "Kelly, stay near the place and take care of Hawk." He said and gave Ray the Sword he got to him. “While doing that, collect every dead leaf, dried grass, bird nest, tree bark all that is flammable. But don't leave him alone.
Sam said and took the axe out of the bag. He called Jack and said. "You also collect the same things. You can take the bag and fill it to the brim. Come back in half an hour. I need as much as you can gather. And bring firewood too."
After that the two separated and Sam went to collect some bamboo stems. He cut off the raw and the dry pole without any difference. He made it back and forth and brought back bamboo sticks, firewood, etc.
After half an hour. Jack came back with a bag full of dry garbage.
"Split the bamboo parts and break them. By the time you're done with it, they should be intact but they should be in a fragile state so they'll break with a small bump."
Sam instructs Kelly and Jack. The three of them began to prepare the passage just as Sam had said.
Sam then filled it with dry garbage. Dried grass, dead leaves, dried twigs and bird's nest. He put it in completely and put it in a bag. Then he put firewood inside the bag.
Now the pouch is filled to the brim so that the cover cannot fill it at all.
"Jack take the bag carefully." Sam says and he goes on to bring Hawk. There's only an hour left for Hawk.
They walked carefully without making much noise. After approaching the cave, Sam with the help of Jack and Kelly puts Hawk on a tree and then the three of them also climb it.
The tree faces directly into the mouth of the cave. Sam pulled out the firewood and handed it to Kelly and Jack to hold. Then he picked up a piece and lit it with live dry wood and some bird nests to make a torch.
Then Sam lit every torch for the two of them. He took out the fragile bamboo parts filled with dried garbage and gave each one to them.
"Light it up and throw it into the cave. I'll show you how." Sam said and with a torch. He lit up the dry garbage inside the bamboo section. After a few seconds when it was heavily burnt, he immediately threw it into the cave.
"Throw one in and throw one in the entrance." Sam said and started throwing the pieces continuously.
Every piece of bamboo, when it hit the cave, broke apart and the burning trash within it immediately spread along the cave, raising the flames and the snakes that came into contact into a frenzy.
When the snakes went to the entrance, the situation was not good as pieces of bamboo also came there and started burning.
Sam and the others then took the dry wood, lit it and threw it into the cave. After the fire grew a little bit, Sam said.
"I'm going in. You guys keep throwing it. You're just gonna stop, either when I get back or when the bag's empty." Sam said and without waiting for their answer, he came down from the tree and held a sword and axe, he ran into the cave.
Although the fire is lit, but the age is not long because dry garbage will not burn long. Therefore, they must continue to throw. But the snake is still exposed to heat and in a confused state.
Sam moved quickly while cutting off the snake that was blocking his path. When he faced the king snake, who was in a confused and angry state, he stopped his steps as he moved slowly around it.
The senses of the snake were blocked and this was the only time. Sam saw a token nearby. He quickly broke the token with an axe and a shadow took Hawk from the tree. But both Jack and Kelly were still not relieved completely because the dry wood and bamboo pieces were already exhausted.
Sam also noticed that the fire was being extinguished and the incoming one was stopped. He also guessed the reason and the moment he thought of escaping. He was surrounded by snakes that were moving slowly towards him.
After a while he realized that they were moving towards the King and not him, but that did not make him happy as he was between the king and the remaining snake.
Sam's in an emergency. He doesn't know what to do. The snakes were all slow, as they lost all energy to resist the heat and even the king was dazed.
But that didn't give Sam any advantage because he was also exposed to fire and smoke.
Now, Sam has the only way. It meant that he had to catch a scroll that he had not seen before. But to do this, he had to pass through this king snake, which was about 20 feet long. The only reason he fits into the cave for all these snakes is because he is coiled.
As soon as Sam made up his mind, he immediately took action.
First, he swung his axe and hit the tail of the king. The latter hissed and raised his head. Sam immediately jumped up and with the snake's head as a crutch, he immediately caught the two scrolls and jumped down. But the snake king also came out of his daze and came to him.
Sam immediately opened the scroll. Before the snake could bite him, a strange light shot out from his body as his cultivation was eliminated. He is now at the initiation of the 9th stage.
But Sam sees a difference. When he was in the initiation of the ninth stage, he had no elements, but now, his condition had the light and Fire elements.
Sam sighed and immediately moved. The sword in his hand was immediately covered with golden flames as he swung it, the golden flames shot towards the king and started burning it.
Sam did not stop and he swung his sword continuously burning everything inside the cave and within a few minutes, he came out with all his clothes almost on fire.
Jack and Kelly sighed and finally took a breath. Sam gave them a roll of points and immediately sat on the ground. He gave them a token and said.
"Let's get out of here." Sam said these words and immediately lay on the ground while closing his eyes. She's exhausted. Although he recovered his cultivation in part, he used all of his spiritual energy in his attacks to not take any risks.
Jack unrolled it. There are 40 points written on it. He looked at Sam and smiled.
After a while, Sam woke up. He had already come out of the forest and was in the large hall where all sixty participants had gathered. He saw that all the candidates were looking at him strangely. He then looked at himself and saw that he was barely covered with anything. He checked that his cultivation had been fully unlocked and he was able to access the spatial ring.
"Sam you're awake." Eve spoke from the side. Then only Sam realized that he was with 6 team members. Jack also saw her and helped her up. Sam refused his help and immediately took out a new set of clothes and put them on along with his fur coat.
Just as he was about to ask what happened, a voice came.
"Now, the second round is over. Take the rest of the days off and rest here, Tomorrow morning, your score will be announced and the third round and the final round of the competition will begin." An Elder announced and left.
