Sam slept well that night. After what happened to the panther, only this time did he feel a little peaceful. His mind calmed down a little as he fell asleep in his comfortable bed. The next morning even before sunrise, a series of knocking sounds woke him up.
When he went outside, he saw Philip standing there.
"Sam's headmaster is coming. He said there's something important to talk to you about." Philip sounded confused. Sam simply nodded and walked down and looked at the Headmaster, who was sitting on the chair with a grim expression. As Sam sat in front of him, he took a deep breath and asked.
"Sam, did you do it?"
"What exactly is it, sir?" Sam answered with a smile. When he saw Sam's smile, without the slightest bit of resentment and cold demeanor, he couldn't even relate to the person he saw a few days ago when he came to confront him about the 'message' Eisen. He immediately understood what made this young man feel so happy.
"Why do you have to go too far? We can talk about it. Will you take every little problem so far?" The headmaster asked with a sad expression. Eisen is a good candidate for this competition. He was not only a person with good cultivation for his age, he was also an expert in the auxiliary profession as well. He is a very valuable person in the team now. But he slipped away just like that because of his selfish actions.
He was also not satisfied with Sam. Although, he could understand he was angry, he would never have expected that he would just kill that person because his pet was attacked. If they were killed, he might understand. They're hurt bad. If there was anyone other than Sam, they would take a huge ransom, and let this matter go. After all, there were many more powerful pets that money could buy. Any normal cultivator would do it. At least, he himself would. But Sam's answer surprised him.
"To be honest, Sir. I knew. I'll take every little problem so far." The headmaster was a bit absentminded and said.
"He is a major part of the team. He could be used to get some real results for the city. Did you at least think about what you did? How much did it cost, was it for the academy and the City?"
"And why should I care about that?" This time not only the headmaster, the other team members were stunned as well. At first, they are confused, but they understand something that this discussion is related to Sam and others who were supposed to be part of the team, but were unable to do so because of Sam. But what Sam said surprised them rather than confused. 'what does that mean, why should I care?' He was part of this scary team for crying out loud. This is the thought that comes to everyone's mind. Without giving the Headmaster a chance to speak, Sam continued.
"Maybe you forgot, let me remind you. It's part of a business deal between the two of us. You pay me and I will participate in the competition on behalf of your academy. The deal did not include me tolerating anything your disciples.throw it at me and lie on the floor to let them walk over me. You're here asking me an explanation why I did that? Where you were when your beloved disciple got so carried away and hired the most famous organization in town to make a punch on my pet. I don't see you demanding an explanation from him."
Sam asked in a serious tone. Her soft smile was gone.
"But I'll compensate you. You can cure them or you can teach them a lesson. Why go that far?" The headmaster asked in an irritated tone.
Sam just chuckled. Then he picked up the sword and threw it at the Headmaster's feet, then he took out a bag full of spirit stones that seemed like a lot from his storage and placed it on the table. He looked directly into the Headmaster's eyes and said.
"200,000 spirit stones. Please leave your arm here? You can heal your arms in the healer and I will pay you too. Are you ready?"
It seemed to freeze in place. All the students felt their blood turn cold. The Headmaster also looked at Sam as his aura grew wild. Sam did not avert his gaze even under the pressure of a superior cultivator and simply stared straight into the Headmaster's eyes.
Why is he so brave? Because he knew that the Headmaster would not attack him. There's no other choice. Sam is the only hope, if he needs to gain some advantage through this tournament.
The Headmaster tried his best to calm himself down and left after saying. "Whatever happens, it happens. I was hoping you'd meet the end of your deal Sam. See you at the academy in a minute." He then left without looking into the group.
Sam also said nothing and went to his room to refresh himself. He switched to his usual black vest and coat and walked down. Now, all the members in the group were ready to leave.
The group began their journey as they went to the Falcon Cliff academy.
The Falcon cliff academy was also part of the northern region of the eagle cliff city. Sam and his group came here and sat down with the people from Starwood city.
Sam observed the ruler of another city and he was a little surprised. The other city lords were at most the middle stage of the Beginner stage and so were the academy's principal. Some of the principals were at most at the academy elder level. This made him shocked and confused at the same time. He was observing something else: others were looking at their group strangely, the principals and city lords of the other group were looking at them and whispering within themselves. Although, he felt that it was strange, he did not think too much about it and waited as his gaze was fixed on the chair on the topmost platform.
The seat was for the Count and the Headmaster of the Falcon Cliff city. Two of the strongest people in the region.
After a while, a huge bird screech rang out and everyone looked towards the sky. There was a huge whirlwind eagle, which was clearly at Level 3. On top of the eagle, a middle-aged man with a dignified face stood proudly with his back straight. He was none other than the Great Mage Falcon who was also called the Count Falcon. He was the lord of the territory not only of the Falcon Cliff city but also of the other five subordinate cities.
He was followed by a group of Beginner and Witch warriors riding level 2 Whirlwind Falcons. They were called the Falcon guards, the elite guards of the Falcon Cliff city.
Sam looked at the various people who stood in honor of the Count and he also stood up. He did not like to bow and kneel, but standing as respect was still not excessive and so, he felt inappropriate.
Great Magicians or Great Warriors were the cultivation stage above the Beginner stage and the Falcon Cliff city had at most a few of them. They might even exceed ten people and the strongest Magician/Great Warrior was undoubtedly the Count followed by the Falcon Cliff academy's Head.
While everyone was immersed in their own thoughts, the entourage arrived from the depths of the Falcon Cliff academy led by a middle-aged man with an extreme scientific aura. He has a long beard and long hair that reaches his shoulders. The second most powerful person in the Falcon Cliff city was here.
The two big shots hugged each other warmly as they exchanged greetings, they looked rather close. After a while, the two took a seat and gestured for the audience to sit down. They didn't expect everyone to bow. Sam heard from the whispers of the spectators that the City lord did not like people bowing to him at all and on many occasions mentioned not to bow.
After everyone calmed down, Count Falcon came forward and spoke to the people.
"My honorable people. At this good moment, I am very happy to see that the City lords and the Heads of academies of the subordinate cities brought the candidates for this grand event. I appreciate the candidates who came to this event and I wish them all the best for their future.
Today young talents from all over my region are here to participate in the tournament that will be held by the joint administration between Principal Castor and me. This tournament is to assess the potential young generation and give them new opportunities, so that they will excel in the future. I hope all the candidates give their best in the tournament and strive to be the best. The rules of the tournament will be explained by Principal Castor.
After finishing his speech followed by applause from the audience, he sat down and the Headmaster took his place and waited for a while until the audience calmed down. After the audience fell silent, he began to speak.
"As our Count Falcon said. Young people will participate in the tournament. Qualifying to enter the tournament is the candidate must be younger or twenty years old and he must be one of the ten cities selected. .
We also held a tournament a few days ago to select the top 10 people in our city who would compete against the other five sub-ordinate city groups. There will be an age assessment later to proceed and those who do not pass the requirements will soon be eliminated and their respective cities will have to look for replacements on their own. If they did not have a replacement, the candidate from the Falcon Cliff city would replace him.
This tournament is for a very important purpose, so your assessment will not only vary, but also take into account all the traits of a person not only focusing on battle prowess.
There are two types of final rankings. One is the team ranking that will be sorted based on the cumulative performance of the city team. The second level is the individual level. Prizes for both rankings will be given adequately.
The candidates will be assessed in three rounds.
The first half will be a challenge of resilience. The challenge is to travel in the tower as high as possible. The tower was filled with various formations, obstacles, and other restrictions. This tower is part of our testing ground, which has thirty levels. The higher the level a person climbs, the higher the points that will be obtained.
I wish you all the best." The headmaster closed his speech.
