Chapter 4: Lucky or Damn

I accidentally let go of the rope I was holding. Right now my body feels light and the time around seems to be slowly rotating.

Dugdug. Dugdug.

This heart beats fast, the mind feels empty, and the body still continues to fall. Realizing that, I suddenly felt that time had returned to normal. This makes the body fall faster.

“Hua!” The sound of my cry being so loud, echoed within the abyss.

The pounding of my body with water, immediately made myself feel weak.

Pain, pain and fatigue mixed in the body. The contents inside this head instantly disappeared, and I no longer felt anything.

Empty and dark, these eyes can not see a single speck of light to be used as a light. The atmosphere was also very quiet, almost similar to the first time I came to this forest.

Ah ... is this the afterlife?

Just as I was beginning to give up on what was happening to me, my ears suddenly heard a faint sound from nowhere.

The voice was getting clearer, but still, I did not know where the voice came from.

I opened my eyes as wide as possible and then glanced around. But what I see now is black.

Now the voice sounded very loud in the ears. And suddenly, self-awareness was attracted by something I didn't know.

The water drained out of the mouth, and the atmosphere that had been so dark had turned completely into light.

“Uhuk, uhuk, uhuk ...” I coughed while beating my chest and straightening this body.

After stopping coughing, I glanced to the right side and saw the figure of Mischie who was breathing. The white bandage that wrapped the wound on his chest was now filled with red.

“Hei! Are you okay?” ask me with a worried tone.

Mischie smiled warmly then replied, “Ya. I'm ba—”

Before Mischie could continue, he suddenly collapsed and lay weakly on the ground. Seeing that, I immediately got up and walked up to him.

When I looked closely, his body turned pale, and when touched, I could feel how cold it was. Without a second thought, I immediately fixed his lying body.

Unknowingly, I glanced at Mischie who was lying down, with sparkling eyes.

“Any, so weird ... why did she ignore her injured self just to save me?” I said very moved.

Tears flowed down this cheek without me noticing. However, now is not the right time to be overwhelmed. Because I have to find a way for Mischie to survive.

I rubbed the tears that flowed with both of my hands, then immediately got up to my feet and watched around. There was no sign of anyone around us. And after I looked further, where we are now is an empty land near a river and a very high cliff.

“Alright, where can I find food?” I said as I walked towards the riverbank.

I looked at the water so clear and flowing with a rush. For a moment, I was enjoying that sight.

“Ah .. want it to feel like I enjoy my days without tension and flowing smoothly like water.”

The words came out of my mouth without me noticing. Because deep down, I want that very much.

“Ah, stop. Expecting such a thing would just be a waste of time.”

Slowly I move this foot into the river. In an instant, the coldness of the river water instantly felt all over the body.

“It's cold ...,” said I was trembling and immediately came out of the river.

Why am I so stupid? How could I catch a fish without the help of a tool. After all, I don't have anything that can be used to ignite a fire.

All right, now let's think about it. Where could I find a piece of bread to fill this stomach. As I continued to turn my brain, I walked up the river.

These footsteps stopped when they saw some teenagers sitting making a circle. Right across from them, there was a suspension bridge that had been cut off and hung on the wall of the ravine.

Immediately I turned and hid behind a large rock so as not to be found by them. The roar of the wind blew fiercely, instantly cooling this self.

After a while of waiting, I finally started to sneak back to where Mischie was. While on the way, I accidentally found a hole that is not too big, on the wall of the ravine.

I was actually very anxious to find out what was in there, but the previous incident made me doubtful. However, I slowly extended my hand towards the hole. However, not yet had my hand entered the hole, I immediately pulled it back.

“Check or not, yes?” I murmured in confusion.

Check that! Nah! Check that! Nah!

The two words kept repeating themselves in the head for a while. From here I began to hesitate to decide.

My stomach, which was so hungry, rang so loudly that it made me not care whether it contained snakes or bread in the hole.

“Ah come on, my stomach is hungry, I don't care what I'll find in there." I grumbled and then put my hands back in the hole.

This hand again came to a halt because of the doubt in the heart.

“Ah no, wait a minute,” I said while pulling back this hand.

Oh, comeon. What am I supposed to do?

Crew.

The call of nature again reverberated in the ear. And now, by strengthening my resolve and crushing my doubts, I quickly put my right hand into the hole.

As this hand went into the hole, I slowly felt what was there. Suddenly I touched something to make me pull this hand back and move a little away.

“Eh? What is it?” I muttered slightly raising the tone of voice.

I stared at the hole for a while and then came back closer.

“Hm .. I guess I mistook.” Once again I said, then put my right hand back in the hole.

When this hand touched something inside, I slowly took it out of there. I breathed a sigh of relief, when I saw that what was in there, was a piece of bread that I used to find in the hole of the tree.

“Fiuh ... thankfully not a snake.”

After finding that piece of bread, I started walking back while looking around to see if there was still a hole that held the bread. And I was lucky enough to find 3 more loaves of bread on the way.

Upon arrival at the destination, I immediately sat cross-legged to the right of Mischie while putting down the bread I brought. For a moment, I touched his forehead to check the condition of the young man.

Once again I breathed a sigh of relief, because Mischie's body temperature had started to stabilize due to the warmth of the sun.

To be honest I don't know if sunlight can stabilize his condition. However, since there was nothing I could do for her, I decided to let it go.

I took the piece of bread I had brought, and started eating it. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching us and made me stop eating.

Holy hooch! I'm actually lucky or unlucky, huh?
