The Dark Slayer's

The Dark Slayer's
[S2] Chapter 4 Part 2

After Darwis explained at length how and what the triggers of Evolution were, I was able to deduce some important points from it all. First of all, this is indeed just a theory with a fragile basis, but I remain confident in the theory. Evolution occurs because of a virus that penetrates the body and forms new cells. Not only that, these cells can react when a person is in a certain psychological state, such as despair.

The second point, this is the reason why the first point is there. Here, after experimenting on himself, Darwis knew one thing. Rotten meat can make the virus react quickly, although ordinary meat is also the same, but it takes longer. Maybe the virus is reacting because of the presence of bacteria or other types of viruses.

And the last point, this virus will increase continuously as the use of changes in form. When the capacity of the virus exceeds the limit, then there is Permanent Evolution as experienced by Dervish. And the conclusion of those three points, I will change like Dervish as well when overusing the change of form. Oh, my God, I hope that won't happen.

The air temperature gets colder as the night dissolves. I sighed for a moment before finally glaring around. On my right, there is Darwis who is sleeping soundly. Apparently, he was quite exhausted today.

Tired of just keeping glaring, I stood up and walked around. However, that does not mean I will leave Darwis just like that, because this self just wants to throw sleepiness because it is bored.

Accidentally, these eyes saw the figure of someone sitting under a tree while hugging both legs and bowing their head. I immediately stopped my steps, observing the figure. He was wearing black clothes to cover his body.

Slowly but surely, the foot steps forward carefully so as not to be caught. Suddenly, a piece of twig broke from being stepped on. I immediately shook my head, while the figure did not react in the slightest. Could it be that he had actually realized my existence and pretended not to know. Or maybe....

I guess I'll have to bet here. With sheer luck, this self approached the figure. Although it was quite close, the figure was just unmoved, as if it did not care about the environment around—including me.

Hm, did I just surprise him? Ah, no, it seems that it will bring trouble to myself. So, how better?

As long as I was still brain twisting, all of a sudden, the figure turned its face to me. The eyes were wide open when they saw who the figure really was.

“You-you...”

I immediately ran closer to the figure. He was none other than Flicker, whose circumstances were so alarming. It's possible that he's been through something bad that traumatized him—just like me.

Slowly, I lowered my body in front of him while looking at the young man's face. His eyes were blank, as if he was in a dark room without being able to see. “Hey, what happened to you?” Even though I knew it, I kept asking him that question.

Unwilling to answer my question, Flicker again put his face between the legs he held tightly. He really looks frustrated, without any spirit to continue his life. Here I started thinking about something. Rather than trying to help him to stand up, it was better to just tear him down.

I immediately stood up, then looked at him like he was humbling. “Pathetic people like you, it's better to just die than to trouble others.” I took the gun that was behind the clothes, then pointed it at Flicker.

“Yes, maybe it's better that way .... A... I'm just useless trash.”

“It turns out you admit it.” I made a big smile as I continued to stare at the extremely pitiful young man. “It seems, it won't be a problem if I kill you right now.”

“Stupid. Where might I want to do it.”

My right hand immediately launched an attack on the young man's face. Without any pause, my right leg was used to kick his stomach. He fell limp on the tree trunk, and I put my left hand on his neck.

“You are useless until you make your friends die.” My voice turned violent. “Does it deserve for you to die peacefully?”

Flicker just fell silent, his mouth gaping wide as I once again kicked his stomach. Unwilling to forgive, I threw him to the side, and pointed the tip of the gun at him.

“So weak, it's worth it you can't keep your friends.”

“I ...” He closed his ears and rolled up his body like a caterpillar. “I'm just trash who can't save my friends.”

All right, time to give her the last touch. I shot my gun straight up, it made Flicker roll himself up and curl up while covering both ears with both hands.

“Yes, you are indeed useless trash,” I said in a cold tone, “then you deserve to be tortured first before finally going to nature there.”

Flicker keeps his head between his legs. Without mercy, I put my mouth to his ear, then whispered a sentence, “So, how did they die? Eaten up? Or maybe...”

Leisurely, I returned to my starting position while looking at the already helpless-looking Flicker. I put the gun back under my clothes and smiled warmly at the young man in front of me.

“There comes a time where we do not have to blame ourselves when problems come near.” I held out my right hand to help him stand up. In the silence at night, he looked straight at me with an astonished expression.

I smile again. “You know? I also experienced the same thing with you.” If I don't hold back, maybe tears have dripped down my cheeks. The day where everything seemed to end just like that, was still ringing in memory. “Therefore, you need not feel that all the burdens you must carry alone.”

Maybe this will be a light of hope for him. Actually, I don't do this just anyone. Even though my memories have been erased, but the knowledge I gained somewhere, long ago, I can still remember clearly.

What I do know is, when someone goes through a trauma, it destroys the mind and messes with the mind. To rebuild what has been destroyed in a gentle way, it must take a long time. However, if it is further destroyed then building a new one, it may create a better psychological state.

Even so, it is still worth remembering, I want to try what I just did, not because I am confident in my knowledge. But that's because I don't think too much about the risks.
