The Dark Slayer's
[S3] Chapter 6: Ti and Tan

The atmosphere was so quiet, the wind rustled flying dust all around. Leon fell silent, while Sun looked at him in surprise.

Sun tilted his head, not knowing what to say. However, Leon immediately opened his mouth to say something. "Sun, where are we really now?" ask Leon.

"Eh? You really don't know where this is?" Sun was a little surprised.

"Actually, yes...." Leon scratched his head. "I don't know where we are."

"Huh...." Now Sun sighed. "It's only natural that you don't know, because this place is an abandoned city that's almost forgotten. The existence of a level 2 Energy Eater like you here also includes miracles."

"What do you mean?"

"It's impossible you don't know, or maybe it's because there's been so much change here that you don't recognize it anymore."

"Huh?" Really, Leon was confused by this situation.

"This is the city of Heels that was lost a few years ago. Now you remember, right?"

"If this place is forgotten, why are you here?"

"I am one of the Energy Eaters who left the Hope Tower to protect the Outer Area."

"Outer Area?"

"Are you actually testing me or something?" It seemed like Leon's successive questions had already made Sun suspicious.

Hey, Ellise. It seemed, the headquarters of the Energy Eaters were not here.

Yeah, maybe there's a split between humans. You could say, equality has faded and replaced by the level.

So, can I be honest with him?

If you are sure, then just do it according to your heart.

All right, I'll bet now. But, why would he so honestly admit that he was an Energy Eater who left the center?

There may be a reason, or it could be considered their strong bond.

You mean, as long as these escapees benefit humans, then they'll let it go?

That's how I meant it. After all, maybe only a few people become like them.

Haha, that's right.

After speaking to Ellise, Leon looked at Sun calmly. He let out a long sigh then said, "Isn't that attitude of yours too open for a soldier?"

"Warrior?" Sun raises the eyebrows. "I'm not a soldier anymore, and also, it looks like you're suspicious...."

"You're wrong to judge me."

"Yes, I know. And the reason why I'm open is because I think you're a good person."

"Hm...."

"You saved those people, didn't you?" Soon Sun pointed at Leon's black protector to protect the men.

"How sure are you that they're still alive in there."

"My power is not only to use fire, but to detect humans by utilizing the temperature of the air at a certain distance."

"All right, you're right." Leon immediately canceled his shadow protection technique.

"I'm right, right."

"Your confidence is worth admitting."

"So, what are you doing as a level 2 Energy Eater coming here?" Sun was already preparing to fight. Although knowing the difference between them was very far away, Sun still intended to defend himself.

"Stop it, I'm not an Energy Eater. I'm just the guy who just happened to get thrown here."

"Huh? What does that mean?"

"Wouldn't a level 2 Energy Eater like you be guarding the Tower of Hope?"

"I'm not a keeper of the place, but a human shield now." At least, for now, Leon prefers to protect the weak from the monsters. He did not care whether the person was high or weak. As long as he is a good man, he will save him.

"The world outside the Hope Tower Area is so cruel, I'm not sure you can survive."

"If you can survive, why can't I?"

"It's not a matter of strength, it's the environment."

"The peaceful environment doesn't suit me very well."

"Well, I'll take you away with me."

Sun led Leon and the people they had saved were walking down the rubble. There were no signs of monsters or other living creatures here other than them.

Several kilometers had already been reached, it was seen by those iron fences surrounding a city. Leon was a little surprised, not expecting there to be a whole city here.

"You're surprised, right?" sun asked Leon who was walking next to him.

"Slightly, I think your residence is in the ruins of the city, it is not," said Leon, originally.

"This place was built by a level 1 Energy Eater, one of the 20 strongest people in the world."

"Is that a little bit of a strong person in this world?"

"Yes, there's only that much that's been reported to us. The world's 20 strongest people, it's a nickname for a level 1 Energy Eater."

"Then, why don't they just unite and defeat the aliens?"

"It's not that easy." Sun put both hands in his pants pocket. "A tier 1 Energy Eater was estimated to be equivalent to Ti, then the strongest tier 2 Energy Eater could have been on par with Tan."

"Ti and Tan? Are they strong?"

"You're not really an Energy Eater. Don't tell me that your power just rose up in this broken world?"

"Yes, how do I explain it. My strength is awakened after many things."

"It's hard too."

"That's how." Leon was silent for a moment. "Then, can you tell me what Ti and Tan are to me, and why the Energy Eaters can't beat them all even when they've joined forces?"

"Space creatures or commonly we call Fantasy Creatures have many types. Although powerful, they still do not easily defeat us humans like stepping on ants. The reason is the Energy Eaters and human technology are also developing no less rapidly."

"So, all this time you've only been able to survive, have you?"

"In short that's so. If there had been no Energy Eaters in the first place, perhaps the human era would have been over."

"But why didn't the Fantasy Beast just attack? Wouldn't it be better if they were like that from the start?"

"Maybe because they need a lot of time to adapt here. You could say they need at least a year to do that."

"Is that all?"

"Yes, I don't know why, but a year after they came to earth, there was little movement from them. However, during that year, humans had already managed to create a level 1 Energy Eater."

"I still don't understand. You previously said that Ti was equivalent to a level 1 Energy Eater, and Tan was a level 2. How many Ti and Tan are there in our world?"

"Nobody knows the exact number." Sun immediately switched the subject. "Well, I'll take you to the man who founded this city."

"Eh? You certain? But shouldn't the level 1 Energy Eaters protecting this city now be sipping coffee in the Hope Tower?"

"Haha, do you really think that without a level 1 Energy Eater, we can survive?"

"Eitherway. I don't know anything."

"You're funny, of course he's here. He was a level 1 Energy Eater that was different from the others. His heart was too good to leave these weaklings."
