The Dark Slayer's
[S3] Chapter 23: Accepting Reality

Stay alive, all creatures want it, no exception humans. Eternity is one of the innate desires of a human being, but it will happen if the person is happy. They fear death because they do not know what happens next.

Yes, it is generally true that way, but there are some who want death. They are nothing but hopeless people, or desperate. When in a state of being cornered or helpless.

Now, under clear skies in the early morning hours of the day, Leon is bowed to fate. He tried to resist and change it, but it was impossible to do. Both hands clenched, now he had to accept the fact that he was paralyzed.

“Sitting on this old wheelchair .. I feel disappointed in myself,” Leon muttered softly.

Near Leon, stood his friends who were also injured. Vord was the only person who was still healthy without any injuries or anything. The rest were wounded, including Sasa.

The fight between Vord and Jahad caused chaos, causing the effect of attacks around. Sasa was hit by the attack and then injured although not as badly as Leon, Sun, and Ni. Luckily, they were in an abandoned hospital building last night so Vord managed to find a wheelchair for Leon.

Everyone's faces looked gloomy, except for Vord who stood quietly while looking ahead. Leon slightly raised his head, looked at Vord's back for a moment, then returned moody. He felt like dying, always troublesome and making others suffer made him intend to disappear.

“Leon ...”

Leon reacted slightly when Vord mentioned his name.

“Are you going to lose to that wound? we better get back to town. I think it's better than continuing to travel to the Tower of Hope,” Vord continued.

“Entah.” It is difficult for Leon to admit that this trip is too dangerous. However, he will never be satisfied if he has not achieved the goal.

“Sign up your choice. Surrender just like that, or keep going?”

The atmosphere became silent, Leon's body trembled, his hands clenched tightly. Slowly his mouth rattled, saying heavy decisions, “I will keep going forward. No matter if I have to be alone, I definitely get to the destination even though relying on magic.”

Leon's decision was unanimous, undisturbed. No matter how others respond, his desire to atone for sin must begin by finding what kind of place the Tower of Hope is.

“Then, what about the others? Sun, Sasa, Ni, you guys are free to decide.” This time, Vord confirmed everyone's answer.

“I'll be with Leon.” Ni speak up immediately.

“What's your reason? Don't tell me you want to come without a reason.”

“I think Leon is a good guy, and he's like the guy I've been looking for all this time.”

Vord was silent, not answering or commenting on Ni's remarks.

“I'll also come!” Sun decided.

“Why?”

“She saved my life a lot. How could I have let him cross the danger alone before I managed to return the favor.”

“Then you better come back.”

“What do you mean?” Vord's words annoyed Sun a little.

“You've been hurt pretty badly, and you've also returned the favor to Leon. Only by reason of return, you can not continue this journey.”

“Do not arbitrarily decide!”

“Then, what is your real reason?”

Sun gritted his teeth, his hands clenched tightly. “While you're in the way, I'll stay with Leon. He ...he's as bright as my hope. Don't know why, but he's like a star I should follow and make a clue.”

The silence was back around. The wind slightly blew the fresh air. Leon knew Sun's sincere determination. However, now was not a good time to let him face danger.

“Alright, I understand. We will continue the journey, let me be a shield for you.” Vord stepped forward.

The return journey begins, all members choose to continue rather than go home. In addition, with the Vord, it seems that everything must be fine. Somehow, Leon was relieved by it. Even a little unpleasant should involve them.

Are you happy? Having a lot of friends is a relief, right?

Haha, how am I supposed to deny it? I was happy, had friends when I was down or happy.

Well then, enjoy it. A good man like you deserves it.

It's too good for someone like me ....

Yeah, I don't know ....

Under the scorching sun, right between the ruins of a city, Sasa pushed Leon slowly, adjusting Sun and Ni's speed. While the Vord walked calmly leading them while putting both hands in his pants pocket.

Vord continued to step forward expressionlessly, but remained vigilant in case of a surprise attack. An unexpected incident a moment ago made him smile. How not, Leon and his friends have a determination that is even stronger than him.

This made him wonder, is the storm coming soon? Not sure, but he was sure, a storm of chaos was imminent. At that time, there was someone who was the damper. However, it was just a naive thought from Vord.

“Mana may ...,” muttered Vord, as slow as possible until the person behind did not hear it.

After walking across the ruins of the village and setting foot on the rocky plains. Vord realized there was a big rhythm in order to get to the Tower of Hope. Enough worrying. He looked back for a moment, then looked forward again.

Slowly the Vord shakes his head. “Whatever it is, surely everything goes smoothly.”

The decision was already decided before Sasa was able to decide. Now he just keeps going with mixed feelings. He does not understand why Sun really wants to come with Leon, even though he could have returned to the city. However, it is useless to continue to think about it without knowing what to do.

Despite the doubts, Sasa was eventually forced to come along. The reason was simple, if Sun decided so, he went along. Whatever, while Sun was convinced of it, Sasa spontaneously followed suit. However, in this case, doubts slightly disturbed Sasa's heart.

Did you not make this decision? Will it finally be happy? Or maybe sad?

Sasa wanted to believe in Sun's decision. But his heart said something else.

For a moment Sasa glanced at Leon who was sitting on a wheelchair. He wondered, why would someone like him be the hope for Sun? In fact, basically, Leon is a weak person, different from the Vord or other level 1 Energy Eater.

Still unable to understand, Sasa turned to see the look on Sun's face. The young man looked flat, without displaying any expression on his face.

“Stop!” Suddenly Vord exclaimed shouting orders. “Prepare to enter the Valley of Evolution.”

Hearing Vord's words, Sasa reflexively flinched. They were now in front of a valley, moreover Sasa had known a lot about this Valley of Evolution. There is a rule here, if you want to live, go through the valley, do not pass through the top.
