[S2] Chapter 6: Everything Just Started

Last night, there was a huge explosion. The three of us were even made to be unsettled and kept on being vigilant because of it. In the morning, Darwis led us to find the source of the explosion. Indeed, it will be easier to find it overnight, but it is very risky to see a situation that is increasingly chaotic.

“Actually, why do we have to fight between Clans to get out of this forest?” I asked Darwis, when we were still on our way to find the source of the disturbing explosion last night.

“A rumor always spreads quickly. When someone says that a treasure map is found, maybe many are flocking to seize it for personal gain.”

What does that explanation mean? Don't tell me there's someone behind all this? Or maybe, the law of the jungle formed by itself due to the seizure of territory?

“Dulu ...” Darwis restarts his explanation. “There was a message spread by mail sent with birds. There are rules for survival. At first, no one wanted to publish the message, but because there was one Clan that was greedy and crazy for power, the law of the jungle was formed as it is now.”

I stopped my steps, trying to think about everything that had happened. At the beginning, Wolf told me that everyone would automatically become partners when they woke up in the same area. Then, without a clue, a tattoo appears that symbolizes a Clan. Does that mean, all of this has a certain period of time.

It seems like it is. Darwis once said that from the beginning it had been the Snake Clan. In other words, it meant it was true that Wolf's statement was first. It's just that, because the incident when the animals were running around made many people panic, tattoos also appeared along with the smoke that made me fall asleep at that time. Of course, the tattoo that appears is used as a marker.

Finally, one problem can be solved. And this mystery must have something to do with what's in the north. It was also what caused the law of the jungle to form in this mysterious forest. However, considering the number of people who live here, it does not rule out the possibility that anyone already knows about what is in the northern region.

“Hey, if you keep daydreaming, I'll leave you.”

The warning immediately broke my daydream. I casually stepped back behind Darwis and Flicker. From this I can deduce something, because of so many mysteries, there might be a mortal in the northern region. And to open it, a certain condition is needed, so that makes the law of the jungle in this forest, the more logical to use.

After passing through various terrains, we finally arrived at a very messy place, where stinging smells and corpses were scattered. However, I was already no stranger to this sight, and it seemed that Flicker was also unperturbed.

“What happened here?” Flicker glared around, observing this chaotic state.

A building in the middle of the field had been destroyed and flattened to the ground. There are so many holes around. “It looks like a big fight has happened last night,” I muttered softly.

“Yes. And apparently, all of this was due to someone's stratagem.” The Dervish agreed, then immediately approached the scattered collection of corpses.

Does he want to fill up the food supply? Why am I so disgusted to see it? Yes, how could it not, because I am still a human being with common sense. In contrast to Darwis, who I felt he had become a real monster because of his Permanent Evolution.

I calmly scanned around, bodies strewn all over the field. I set foot toward a place where I saw a different body. When it was almost there, a pungent smell instantly filled the nostrils. “What does this require?”

Clearly visible body parts of the bodies that were there, scattered like useless garbage. In addition, on the part of the body that is still intact, there is a gunshot wound. Firearms are also scattered here.

“What fight makes it like this?”

How frightening. It seems that this situation is more sinister than my previous fight.

I rushed straight towards him. There was a piece of tail that was almost completely burned.

“What score is it?” My curiosity immediately overflowed when I saw the tail. Never imagined before that there would be such a thing here.

“It seems, there is a fierce fight between evolved humans here.” Darwis heaved a sigh of relief. “Thank you we didn't look for this last night. Otherwise ... maybe now we get a new problem.”

“Is that?” Flicker suddenly interjected while observing the tail piece earlier.

“There is no point in continuing here.” Darwis is leaving. “We'd better get to the north region soon.”

“It is the best road we can do now.” I agreed, and started tailing behind Darwis.

Considering everything that happened, it seemed like the end of the journey was getting closer. The only one who survives is the winner. Although as good as anything a Clan that was here struggled, in the end, it was still only one that was not a loser. No wonder there is a group that is cheating.

After a long walk, Darwis stretched out his right hand, hinting that we should stop. No other choice, me and Flicker are subject to such orders. The glances of my eyes were still monitoring around, as well as Darwis.

“It looks safe,” said Darwis as he waved his hand forward, giving us another gesture.

Me and Fliker can only follow him, nothing more. And somehow, he ended up being our leader all along. I hope making him a leader is a good thing.

“Start from here we have to be careful. Never let your guard down even if just a little. Understand?”

I nodded in response to the orders from Darwis. Most likely, the northern region we had been looking for, was near.

“Good.” Without noticing the two of us behind him, Darwis walked back slowly. One thing is certain of all this, namely that destruction is in sight. Not the chaos as before, but the real destruction of the mysterious end of the forest we were in.

Darwis said, what is the name of the fight between Clans, everything has started now, so vigilance must be increased. However, my curiosity for the northern region is still not extinct. My stupidity seems to be worth laughing at.

It was dusk again, our journey to the northern region which is a mystery, still not reached. Yes, that's because it's a long way away. Even though we have passed through a lot of dangerous terrain such as cliffs and corn land that is so wide, we still have not reached it.

“Tonight, we rest here.” Unperturbed in the slightest by the dangerous situation, Darwis relaxed his body while leaning under the tree. “Bewake in turn. Never let your guard down at all costs. Apparently, our destination is near.”

Still an estimate, but very convincing. I calmly sat down next to Darwis, followed by Flicker.
