CHAPTER 79: 79

Chapter 79: 79

In the round of sixteen, Ryan and John have been matched as opponents. Based on their previous fight, as well as John's performance today, Ryan knows that his tournament journey has come to an end.

“Hey, you've already made sixteen great. You are guaranteed a place in the pocket realm, so the only thing you miss is the prizes awarded to the top three of the tournament.” John tries to cheer Ryan up because he's the one who's going to eliminate him.

“I think you're right. Besides, if I have to lose to anyone, I'd rather be you. If I meet that bastard Dylan, I have to give up even without fighting, which would be a shame.”

John nodded at Ryan's comment. Against Dylan would really be the worst result for Ryan, so at least not everything was bad. John and Ryan had a fight in the first stage of the sixteen round, and they immediately proceeded to their battle stage.

After jumping onto the stage, the referee started the fight, and Ryan and John stared at each other.

“I know I can't beat you, but I don't want to give up without a fight either. How about this, let me attack you with my strongest attack without any interruption, and if you are fine after that, I will surrender. ” Ryan wants to at least show the crowd, and Ella, what she really is capable of, so she came up with this to give herself the face of defeat.

“Sure. I'll take it.” John could not refuse Ryan's request. He knew it was Ryan's last fight, and knew that Ryan wanted to come out hard.

“Thank you.” Ryan smiled and pulled out his sword. “Prepare yourself John, because I won't hold back.”

John nodded and looked at Ryan, who was beginning to prepare for his attack. When it came to essence fighting, there were two main ways of using essence Qi to fight. The first was the way almost all cultivators fought, and it used their Qi in a fast yet powerful burst to unleash powerful attacks in a short period of time. Balancing the speed and power of the attack was important, as taking too long to channel the attack, like John's first enemy, would leave a gap the opponent could exploit.

The second and rarely used method was to channel and gather Qi essence for a long duration before explosively releasing it outside in a massive attack. The positive side of this method was that it allowed a cultivator to unleash their strongest attack, which was much stronger than they would normally be able to do, he said, while the downside was the long channeling time that left cultivators open to any counterattack.

Using the second method is almost impossible in a one-on-one fight, as enemies can easily annoy anyone trying to channel attacks. However, when cultivators had people to defend them while channeling, they could unleash devastating attacks. A channeled attack would have a much larger area of attack, and was perfect for causing an enormous toll. This type of cultivator was known as a War Witch, and they received such a name because of the tremendous destruction they could unleash in large-scale warfare.

Becoming a War Mage required a unique type of talent, as cultivators needed to be able to channel and control a large amount of Qi at once before releasing it. Without proper talent in controlling Qi, a cultivator who channeled powerful attacks could lose control of their Qi, and in the worst case, lose control of it, cultivators were known to explode from within by losing control of their Qi during the attack.

This type of control was a separate type of talent that some cultivators possessed, and was a fairly rare talent to possess. Even one in a thousand cultivators might not have this Qi control talent.

Although the War Mage Qi reserves might not be the highest, and their fighting prowess might not be the best, they had an incredible talent in controlling their Qi, he said, and able to unleash massive attacks without losing control.

Through his training, Ryan has found that he is the right type of talent. Combat prowess and the essence of Qi strength were considered impressive, but what he really mastered was Qi control. Some of the Elders of the Fenix Clan had noticed this talent a while ago, and had started training Ryan in some of the most powerful Clan channeled attacks.

Ryan stood there for a moment and took a deep breath before taking a wide and unique position. One of his hands rested on his chest, while the other was cupped under his stomach, right where his dantian was.

John looked at Ryan and narrowed his eyes at what he was witnessing. Because of his unique talent, John never met someone who channeled their attacks, and was unsure of what happened.

“What did he do? Is this a posing fight?”

“I don't know, but he's been standing like that for ten seconds without moving.”

As the crowd spoke, an extremely powerful aura burst out from Ryan. The crowd was shocked to the point of being silent over the sudden change in events, and John was also shocked. His eyes opened wide as he stared straight at Ryan.

‘What is going on? I've never seen anything like it. I don't know why, but Ryan's making me feel an incredible danger right now. I have to try my hardest to keep this up. ‘ A nervous smile appeared on John's face as he took out his scythe and took a wide position. Although he had no idea what was happening, he knew that Ryan would launch an incredible attack, and was fully prepared to take it directly as he promised.

In the stands, Cade Fenix and the other Fenix Clan Elders watched Ryan channel his attacks in surprise.

“Why did I not know that Ryan has such talent in channeling attacks?” Cade Fenix asked all the Elders around him.

Ryan's father, Darus Fenix, the powerful Core Formation Elder of the clan, spoke up. “I'm the one who discovered Ryan's talent. He wanted to keep it a secret for some reason, but now it is revealed for everyone to see.” A proud smile was seen on Ryan's father's face as he watched his son channel his attack.

Cade Fenix looks at Ryan and returns to Darus. “We will, whatever the reason, this is fantastic news. A War Witch like Ryan is truly priceless on the battlefield, and his talent will definitely bring great benefits to our Fenix Clan in the future

Returning to the stage, John looked at Ryan as he continued to channel his attacks. An explosive battle aura emanated from John as he channeled body Qi into every inch of his body. He knew that if he did not take this attack seriously, he would lose.

After a full minute of channeling, Ryan finally seemed like he couldn't hold it anymore. Dozens of blood vessels swelled up under his somewhat fiery red skin, and he looked like he was about to explode.

“Prepare yourself” Ryan grumbled with gritted teeth as he looked towards John.

The hand that had rested on his chest stretched out toward John, and his middle and index fingers pointed straight at John.

Bang out!

An extremely strong and destructive pure white Qi ray burst out from Ryan's finger, and moved in a straight line towards John. While most of the Qi rays at the Fog Creation level were several inches long and looked somewhat hazy, this attack from Ryan was two feet long and contained an extremely dense Qi essence, which was extremely dense, and was something more comparable to a Qi Condensation attack.

John's eyes widened as he stared at the rapidly approaching attack.
