Chapter 3: 3

“Miko, what's wrong with you?” john shouted as he rubbed his nose. Tears drenched his face because of the power of that kick.

John looks at Miko and realizes that he has grown since the last time he saw her. She is eleven years old and has short and pointed brown hair, with an average body for her age. Her childish face contrasted with the delicate and luxurious white robe she was wearing. Miko was the only son of clan leader Waylon Varis, and was considered by many to be one of the ten thousand years of cultivation prodigies. He was the pride of the Varis clan, and because of that, they had indulged him all his life leading to his unrestrained attitude.

“I just got back at you because you secretly attacked me last time!” miko Exclamation. John was about to refute, but suddenly remembered that it was actually him who had carried out a sneak attack on Miko the last time they met in the Varis clan.

“Nah, whatever. That's a pretty good attack. At least now you wait until the attack strikes before you shout out loud” John said. John walks up to Miko and pats her back heavily, causing Miko to stumble forward a few feet.

Miko stabilized herself and turned to John with a laugh. “Let's argue, we've been almost a year not arguing” replied Miko.

“We can't just leave this clan meeting to fight Miko,” John replied. As an oppressed expression appeared on Mikos face, the voice from behind them caused Miko's face to brighten once again.

“Of course you can. We're just socializing now. Lunch starts in an hour. Just back then,” said Cade, with Waylon nodding in agreement beside him.

“Come away, let's go, let's go!” miko exclaimed happily. John put his hand to his face, before agreeing to argue. John, Ryan and Miko then leave the clan hall and walk towards the martial training arena, with Miko happily jumping around in excitement.

Seeing them off, Waylon smiled and said, “Since John ‘ saved’ Miko from the stray dog as a child, Miko has been John's biggest fan and supporter, as a child, although he had a strange way of showing that support. Speaking of John, his senses became sharper as well. He almost managed to avoid Miko's kick just in time. “

Laughing, Cade replied, “John almost killed himself to try to become stronger, so it was only natural that his senses increased. Miko on the other hand became even more impressive every time I saw her. Creation of the Middle Fog at the age of eleven, and a special variant soul type. He is probably the most promising cultivator our continent has produced in the past ten thousand years. I can't help but envy her talent. By the way, have you known the kind of soul variant? I s?”

“Not yet, we have checked every source of knowledge we have, and even have some terrifying experts to examine his soul, but none of them can identify what type of variant it is. Some of these members want to make it as a student, but this is not the time for that, “ replied Waylon.

John, Ryan and Miko walked for a few minutes before they arrived at the martial arts training arena. It has several sections dedicated to various aspects of martial training, such as puppet training, weight training, and battle arenas. There were several battle arenas, each with a special grandstand for spectators to watch the debate if they wished to do so. The group walked into one of the empty arenas and entered through the lower entrance. The sandy arena was circular, though,

John walks to one side of the arena and turns to face Miko. He pulled out his greatsword and held it by his side. The iron sword blade was four feet long, weighed thirty pounds and had a dark gray luster. Although John was not a Body Repair cultivator, he had an extremely strong body, and was able to use a great sword without much trouble.

“Alright, the same rules as last time, do not use deep cultivation or strength, this is purely a spar of weapon skills,” John told Miko.

Miko stopped on the other side of the arena and turned towards John. He also took out a large sword and held it in front of him. The handleless sword had a blade that was four feet long and four inches wide at its base, with a golden luster and a checkered pattern engraved on its blade. Made from deep gold ore, it was much heavier than John's sword, weighing a hundred pounds.

“I know I know, but this time you won't win. I have trained my sword techniques almost every day since you defeated me last time. Get ready!” Miko shouted as she rushed towards John. John stood there, his position wide and firm, the sword ready by his side, waiting for Miko to reach him.

Miko appeared in front of John and raised the sword high above his head with both hands, and split towards John. Based on the difference in the quality and weight of the sword, John knew he could not withstand this attack directly. As the sword slashed towards John's head, John gracefully turned his body to the side and saw the sword slide past his chest.

“Oh no, you don't. Don't think I don't remember this move from last time” shouted Miko as she twisted her shoulders and arms, pointing the sword at John's waist. It is at that moment that John realizes that Miko is actually faking the first strike, barely giving any power into it, all for a chance to divert the middle wing when John is not expecting it.

“Bang!”

John can barely lift his sword in time to fend off the attack, but his hasty defenses allow Miko to send John tripping back three feet. Not wasting the opportunity she created, Miko pounced forward towards John, swinging her sword at John's waist again.

John calmed down quickly and saw the sword approaching him. A faint smile flashed across his face and he raised his sword to block the incoming sword. Just before the sword reached John's waist, John crouched down and spun down the swing, his own sword pointing towards Miko's waist.

Not expecting a quick response from John, Miko had already exerted her strength to attack and could not stop her swing. Miko suddenly found the sword spinning towards her chest, there was no way to block it.

“Bang!”

John felt that his arm would break because he was suddenly thrown across the martial arena, falling down several times before finally stopping.

“Cough!”, John coughed up blood, blood dripping from his lips.

“Cough!” “Don't worry, I'll be fine. I just need a few minutes to catch my breath.” John cleaned the dirt from his robe and took a small green pill from his storage ring and put it in his mouth. Although the pill was a low-level healing pill, it was enough to suppress the small internal injuries he had just sustained.

“Let's go back to the meeting. We call this a tie duel.” John said with a smile on Miko. Ryan and Miko support John as they help him walk back to the clan meeting.

Arriving at the meeting hall, John noticed the boisterous atmosphere as the two clans drank and ate together, a sign of the closeness of the two clans. John's mother and father were also at the main table, talking to the Elders of the Varis clan. John, Ryan, and Miko each sat at one of the tables close to the clan leader. Once the clan leaders realized the three had returned, they finished their discussion.

Cade Fenix stood up and spoke to the crowd. “Preview everything. As you probably know, there is an important issue involving the Fenix and Varis clans that is coming in the near future.” Cade paused for a moment before continuing on “The ancient pocket world”.

Joyful murmurs echoed throughout the hall when mentioning the pocket realm. The pocket realm was an ancient and mysterious realm. No one knows what the origin of nature is or who created it, but they know that incredible opportunities await inside for those who are able to capture it.

After calming everyone down, Cade Fenix continued, “The world opens every twenty years, and the next opening will last less than a year. Anyone sixteen years of age and under can enter. Thus, each of our clans will choose the most promising young cultivators to enter the world. Unfortunately, due to the agreement with all the participating clans and sects, we were unable to directly share the entries. Instead, the top hundred cultivators, determined by strength would be allowed to enter. A tournament would be held between all the participating clans and sects several weeks before the pocket realm opened to determine who would enter. Do your best to seize this opportunity. We will provide more information on this matter at a later time. “

Cade returned to his chair and began discussing matters with Waylon, while an excited discussion filled the hall.

“I can't wait to enter the world of pocket” exclaimed one of the junior clans enthusiastically.

“I've heard that the previous generation received all kinds of goods and amazing opportunities in it” replied another.

“Hmph, look at all these frogs thinking they'll achieve anything they deserve. Whatever matters in the pocket world will be yours to take, senior brother Parker” said a boy.

“Really, Correct. With Parker here, no one else has any hope of getting something good.

At one of the middle tables, a group of young men besieged Parker Fenix, showering him with praise in an attempt to gain his good graces. While he did not say anything, the haughty expression on his face betrayed his otherwise calm demeanor.

“See they lick Parker, pathetic,” says Ryan. “After all they will not get anything that pleases him.”

John looked at the youth table but said nothing. As far as he was concerned, anything that had anything to do with Parker and his minions had nothing to do with him.

The sun set at the time the celebration was over, at which the Varis clan woke up, ready to return home.

“Goodbye old friend, nice to meet you after so long. See you a few weeks in Dreadel” Kingdom Waylon told Cade as he stood up before leaving. The clan followed him, with Miko behind him. He turned around and waved goodbye to John and Ryan before leaving with the clan.

After the celebration ends, John wishes Ryan and everyone good night and returns home with his mother and father. As they walked in, John was about to climb into his room when his mother called him.

“John, can you take a gift from today's party and put it in the basement?” Rachel

“Sure,” Reply John.

He picked up some wine jars his mother gave him and walked to the back of the mansion towards the basement door. After passing through several rooms, John arrived at the basement door and opened it, looking down the stairs towards the basement.

“Now after some thought, I guess I've never really gone down to the basement. I wonder what it looks like?” John thought to himself as he went down the stairs.

As he reached the bottom of the stairs, John looked around at the large basement and its contents. He could see various things stored there, including wine chests, weapons, books, medicinal ingredients and more. Walking past the weapons rack and bookshelves, John arrived at the wine cellar section. He placed the wine jar on one of the shelves, and turned to leave.

As John was about to climb the stairs, he felt something inside him, urging him to return.
