Chapter 23: 23

“How is this possible?” john was shocked.

When he tried to control the ball like he would his own dantian, John was surprised to learn he could fully control it. It feels as natural as controlling his own dantian. In addition, his own dantian was still functioning normally, indicating that the ball was not blocked at all by the ball.

John once again focused on extracting Qi from the ball. Just like before, Qi naturally began to flow out of the sphere and into his meridians. John guided Qi through his body according to the diagram once more, and slowly but surely, John could feel his body strengthening slightly.

“Luarget” exclaimed John while continuing to extract Qi from the ball and send it throughout his body. The feeling of his body growing stronger was extremely intoxicating. John continued to do so for some time before no more Qi flowed from the ball.

“Hah? Is it empty?” Waves of fatigue swept over John's body.

“I don't know how it happened, but this ball acts like my other dantian. It seems like when I run out of Qi, I will feel tired like if my own Dantian runs out of Qi.”

After thinking for a moment, John began to extract energy from his own dantian and guide it according to the diagram.

No matter how much Qi John guided through his meridians, there was no change to his body.

“Does it only work with the Qi of the ball?” John thought about it for a moment before realizing something. When he extracted the Qi from the ball, it had a slightly different quality from the Qi he extracted from his own dantian.

Qi is the energy of the universe, and embodies all the laws of the universe. Depending on the cultivator's understanding, different laws and properties were taken from Qi.

“Ball had to change the Qi in some way that I could not understand. It seems like I can only cultivate this Eternal Asura Body using Qi ball” thought John while returning the Qi flowing through his body to his Dantian.

Still tired from his empty ball dantian, John began cultivating, focusing on drawing the Qi around him towards the ball to fill it.

As soon as the Qi that John had drawn into his body hit the ball, the Qi was repelled and spread towards his own Dantian. No matter how much Qi John pulled the ball, everything was rejected.

“What should I do? If I can't cultivate this Dantian with Qi, then what's the point?” john said in frustration. He thought he had found an incredible treasure that would help him greatly, but it soon revealed itself to be extremely troublesome.

John kept trying for an hour to get the Qi to flow into the ball, but it didn't work out no matter how hard he tried.

“Forget!” john shouted in frustration.

He stood up and paced back and forth, thinking of a solution to this newly discovered problem. After pacing for some time, John looked at the black book from the corner of his eye. An idea came to his mind.

“Could it?” thought John.

He sat back in front of the book and studied the final diagram once again. Sometime later, the carcass of a large Grey Scaly Crocodile appears before John.

“I used that evil blood to cultivate this field before.”

John cut the beast apart and took some of its blood. Using the Qi of his own dantian, John guided a small portion of the blood from the beast into his own body and towards the ball.

Just as the blood approached the ball, it sucked hard. John felt a wave of fatigue that he felt slightly lessened.

“Succeed! Blood is the key!”

He quickly took more blood from the crocodile and guided it throughout his body towards the ball. Slowly but surely, John felt some of the fatigue go away. After spitting out enough blood and absorbing it, John thought for a moment before walking up to the crocodile's head.

He took out his greatsword and sliced open right between the beast's eyes. Once the incision was made, extremely excited and dense blood flowed out. John quickly took his blood.

“This should be his blood essence.”

Each creature and cultivator contained two types of blood. One was normal blood flowing throughout the body, and the other was concentrated blood essence. No matter how much normal blood was lost, as long as a living thing did not die, it would eventually recover it.

However, the blood essence was different. It was the concentrated life essence of a living being, and was therefore much more vibrant and powerful. It is the source of blood energy in the body, and hence it is very important. Restoring the lost blood essence was extremely difficult, almost impossible without special means.

John took out a small bowl of blood essence and held it in front of him. He pressed the bowl into his chest and used his Qi to absorb and guide the blood essence into his body.

“Guh”

A small snarl came out of John's lips. As soon as John absorbed the blood essence, it felt as if his body was heating up and blood was trying to rampage throughout his body. This was because the blood essence was much stronger than ordinary blood.

Although the blood attempts to rampage throughout the body, John can easily control it and guide it towards the ball. When the blood essence approached the sphere, it was once again sucked in violently.

“That's at least several times more effective than all the blood I've absorbed from animals so far. It seems that blood essence is the way to develop this technique.”

John focused on absorbing the rest of the blood essence before he refocused on the ball. Guiding him like he was going to dantian himself, John began to extract Qi from him. Slowly, a small amount of Qi shot out from the dantian before quickly returning to an empty state.

Fatigue hit John again.

“That's it? The entire beast only provided that much Qi? Who knows how much blood I have to absorb to get this ball back to its peak condition” exclaimed John in frustration.

John took out all the remaining Body Refinement level monsters from his storage ring. There are about a dozen of them. After extracting their blood essence, John directed the blood essence towards the ball.

“Still so far?”

Even after absorbing a dozen Body Refinement level monsters, John still only slightly filled his dantian sphere. At this speed, it would take hundreds of beasts just to reach a full state, let alone use them to continue cultivating.

A headless black corpse appeared in front of John.

“I don't believe that a beast of mist creation level won't be quite” John said as he walked over to the wolf's head and extracted the blood essence. That wolf blood essence was dozens of times stronger than any other Body refining beast.

John took a deep breath before starting to guide the blood essence into his body.

“Guh!” a snort of pain came out of John's mouth. Compared to the previous blood essence, the wolf blood essence was much stronger. John struggled a little before successfully controlling the blood, at which point he guided him towards his dantian ball.

“Much better!” exclaiming John. Compared to the previous blood, this blood gave more energy to the Dantian. Although the Dantian was still mostly empty, John felt fatigue disappear and energy once again returned to his body. Not only that, he could even feel the circle of the Dantian itself growing a little stronger.

“I guess this is a way to cultivate this dantian. Right now, the amount and quality of Qi it exerts is similar to mine. I guess this dantian will follow the same leveling path as my own dantian.”

Although the ball was already dense and very different from John's fog Dantian, the quality and potential of the Qi extracted from it was similar to his own Dantian. Thus, John figured that it would most likely follow the same path of power development.

Learning his lesson from last time, John stored the Qi stored in his dantian ball.

“I will continue to cultivate this later after I collect more blood essence. It seems like I will need a large and stable supply of blood essence to develop this body cultivation technique. It also seems that the higher the level of the beast, the better.”

“If the ball provides Qi for the cultivation technique of the Eternal Asura Body, then I can use my own Dantian for essence cultivation. I can process both!”

With two dantians focusing on separate cultivation paths, John will be able to defy norms and cultivate essence and body.

“This is amazing!” john exclaimed, an excited expression on his face. He needed a few minutes to calm down.

John then removed the corpse of the beast and the book, before once again taking it out.

“The ball also seems to act like a giant storage ring for the palace. I wonder if I can keep my own stuff there too.”

John took one of the animal's corpses and then thought of keeping it inside the palace. The body suddenly disappeared.

“Succeed?”

John quickly sends his wits to the palace, where he sees a corpse lying inside in one of the hallways.

“Succeed. This palace is huge. Now I don't have to worry about the storage ring anymore.” A happy expression appeared on John's face as he thought of all the money he would save for not needing to buy a storage ring anymore.

He quickly took out all the items from his storage ring and moved them into the palace.

“But I will hold this ring for now.” thought John while keeping the ring on his finger.

After handling all his belongings, John looked towards the second book lying on the ground in front of him.

“Celestial Lightning Script huh? Sounds impressive.”

After checking the book cover for some time, John reached out and opened the book.
