Chapter 24: 24

John thought the book would be like the previous book, with the first page detailing cultivation techniques.

On the contrary, as soon as John opened the book, what was revealed was not a page, but a hollow inside. On the inside of the hollow was a small round piece of jade, four inches in size. It was a bright green color, and had fantastic markings carved all over the surface. John could see the carving extending to the inside of the jade, making it look even more incredible. In the middle of the jace cut, a small yet bright pulsed light could be seen.

“What is this? And what thing shines in the middle of it?” thought John.

It was quite unexpected that the book was not a book, but a container for this jade. John had never seen anything like this before in his life. After tracing the beautiful marks outside the jade with his fingertips, John sent his heavenly sense into it to find out more about it.

“Ah!”

John quickly retracted his heavenly sense. As soon as he sent his heavenly sense into the piece of jade, he felt his consciousness being pulled inside.

“What just happened?”

Although it was unexpected, John did not feel any danger from what had just happened, so he sent a heavenly feeling back into the piece of jade. His heavenly feelings began to follow the scratches on the jade pieces, as if it was being guided through them. John fell into a trance as his sense of divinity moved further and further into the jade piece.

Out of his trance, John was shocked.

As he guided his heavenly sense into the jade, John could see many images starting to appear in his mind. Lightning pictures. The further he sent a heavenly feeling into the piece of jade, the more images appeared in his mind. It felt like the lightning in the picture was right in front of John. He could almost sense the core of the lightning itself.

“This is amazing.”

John sent a heavenly feeling back inside, but was unable to make it more than a few millimeters into the jade piece. No matter how much he tried, he was unable to proceed any further. Although it was only a small portion of the jade piece, John was already overwhelmed by what he saw.

John woke up from his trance a few hours later.

“This jade piece works like a book. The further I send my sense of divinity into the work, the more information is presented to me. I only got a little bit of information compared to everything, but it was already amazing.”

The piece of jade revealed many images in John's mind. Every time he focused on a single image, he felt as if he was being pulled into a picture, as if he himself was there. The pictures show all kinds of fantastic scenery. A lightning-robed person soared high in the sky, releasing apocalyptic lightning explosions wherever he pointed. Another scene shows a man standing under dark clouds as far as the eye can see. The lightning bolts were so powerful that they seemed as if they could destroy all creation rained down by rain, bathing that person with its power.

Many similar images flashed through John's mind, and each image seemed to have a great deal of depth contained within it.

“This jade piece contains information on how to process it. By studying these images, I was able to capture even more of its depth.”

“Based on what I can tell you so far, the script uses real lightning to train the body, finally turning the body into a lightning attribute body. Amazing!”

Most people in the world are born with normal bodies. Very rarely, a genius blessed by the heavens would be born with an attribute body. Lightning, water bodies, earth bodies, fire bodies, etc. People with attribute bodies would find it ten times easier to develop those special traits, and would almost always be heavenly geniuses.

The attribute body is something that is innate, and cannot be forced or developed. John had never heard of a cultivation technique that allowed one to transform his normal body into an attribute body.

John recalled one image in the lightning script. It showed a person being struck by lightning, where they guided lightning through certain meridians towards their dantian, fixed the lightning, and then sent the refined lightning back outward towards their entire body. That body would be bathed in purified lightning essence, slowly transforming it into a lightning attribute body.

Not only were the meridian pathways that lightning traveled through extremely complex, but John was also unsure of how the Dantian purified lightning into something that could be controlled and used for food.

“I guess I have to mediate this script for some time before I start to understand how to develop it.”

John was eager to start developing this technique, but he knew it would take some time before he could do it. First he had to understand the basics of refinement, as well as practice controlling lightning through the complex meridian pathways depicted. Only then would John be ready to begin training with real lightning.

The thought of being struck by lightning actually made his spine shiver.

“This technique will hurt ... it hurts so much” said John with a wry smile on his face. Although the expected pain was related to a technique that forced one to be struck by lightning, John had no intention of not using it.

John sent a heavenly feeling back into the piece of jade. A few hours passed before he stopped trying to understand the technique.

“I feel as if I am getting a better idea of what to do, but it will take quite a while before I am ready to start developing it.”

Cultivation technique is very beautiful. John never imagined something so profound could exist. He was only at the surface level, yet more than that he could understand.

John put the Jade pawn in the palace. He stood up and stretched his aching legs, as he had been sitting for hours.

Picking up a piece of cooked meat, John bit him while thinking about what to do next.

“I just advanced into the realm of Fog Creation. I still need to understand the Mountain Shattering Sword, as well as the Five-Step Movement Technique. Being proficient in both of these will increase my combat power substantially.”

John sat back down and took out a book detailing the Mountain Crushing Sword technique.

Opening the book to the first page, John began to read the details of how to use the technique.

“Let's take a look here, it is said to send Qi from my Dantian through this special arm meridian, finally leaving various acupoints located on my arms and hands. After Qi reached the acupoints, it piled up for a split second before being released as an attack through my sword. It seemed like the attack could be used both in close combat and as a long-range attack, although it was stronger if used up close. ”

Connecting his consciousness to the ball, John falls into a meditative trance as he erases all disturbing thoughts from his mind. After studying the technique for several hours, he took the attacking position described in the book.

John held his greatsword in front of him as he focused on sending the Qi from his dantian through the meridian pathway described in the technique. Only after half a day of failed attempts could John finally guide his Qi properly. His face was slightly bleached.

John shouted as he charged forward with his sword. His sword started to glow a little as he sent Qi into it.

“Blowout!”

John struck a large rock in front of him with a sword. The huge stone exploded into countless pieces.

“Success!” John shouted happily. Although he had failed for several hours, John was finally able to guide his Qi property and unleash the Mountain Crushing Sword.

“It's even stronger than I thought. I was only at the early Mist Creation realm, yet it shattered this huge rock. My battle with Night Wolf would have been much easier if I could unleash this attack back then.”

John studied the distance portion of the Mountain Crushing Sword, and guessed that it functioned exactly like the attack he had just launched. However, instead of storing the strengthened Qi contained in his sword, John only needed to point his sword forward, where a powerful Qi attack would fly towards his target.

John spent the next few minutes breathing. Although the sword was powerful, it required a lot of Qi to be executed properly. At his current cultivation level, John guessed that he could only unleash this attack a few times before he ran out of Qi. What John didn't know was that this technique was complicated and powerful enough for Mist Creation level attacks. Most cultivators take a week to learn the basics, not just a few hours.

Not only that, but his attacks were also quite violent on his body. Most of the early Mist Creation realm cultivators would feel as if their bodies were destroyed every time they used the attack. It was an attack that was almost more suitable for a Qi Condensation expert than a Fog Creation cultivator.

“Not only am I still in the realm of early Fog Creation, I am also just starting to learn this technique. As I become better at using it and increasing my cultivation, I should be able to unleash these attacks even more, with it growing stronger as well.”
