Chapter 14: 14
John looked at his father before asking, “What condition?”
Suddenly, a small, disc-like object appeared in Barden's hand.
“What is it?” john asked as he watched his father take something from his storage ring. It was a small disc about three inches in diameter, and quite thin. It seemed to be some kind of carved stone, and had fantastic patterns etched all over the surface.
“This is a spatial talisman. When it was damaged, it would move its user anywhere within a thirty mile radius. They are extremely rare and our Fenix Clan only has a few, but my condition is that you bring one of them, there are no exceptions. If you've ever experienced a situation that you can't handle, destroy this talisman and you'll be able to escape from it. If you end up destroying it, immediately return to the clan. “
John reached out and took the amulet from his father, his fingers tracing the beautiful patterns on the surface. Although he did not know what the line meant, he was certain that it was the core that allowed the spatial talisman to work. After examining it for a while, he kept it in his storage ring.
“I have no problem with that. If I run into a problem that I cannot handle, I promise to destroy this and return to the clan as soon as possible” John replied.
“Good. There's only one thing you should be aware of. Any cultivator at the Meridian Forging realm or above can use their strength to suppress the space around you, making you unable to teleport even if you destroy the talisman. I didn't expect you to meet with Meridian Forging experts because they are so rare on this continent, but you still have to know this information, “ Barden said.
“By the way, today is very late. We have to end it all here now and come back. Dinner should be ready soon,” Barden said as he stood up and stretched his legs. John also stood up and followed his father as they walked back to their mansion.
John had dinner with his parents, with his mother making his favorite Golden Ox soup. Rachel Fenix tried several times to convince John to stay behind before she realized the effort was futile.
“Be sure to keep yourself safe. That's all that matters,” Rachel said as she looked towards John, attention clearly visible on her face.
“I'll be mom. Dad even gave me a spatial talisman just in case, so I'll be fine” John replied before he ate another mouthful of soup.
After dinner, John decides to go out and prepare for his trip. “I will go tomorrow, so I have to go and take all the items I need for this trip.”
John decided to visit the Medicine Pavilion first. After walking for a few minutes, John arrived in front of the building and entered. He looked around for a few seconds but was unable to find the Barus Elder anywhere.
“Can I help you?” a voice asked from behind John. He turned to look at a young girl about 20 years old. She has long black hair and a pretty attractive face.
“Uh, I'm looking for Elder Barus. I want to get some pil” replied John. Being the young master of the clan, John was given free access to medicinal pills as long as the demand was not too excessive or expensive.
“Oh, Elder Barus is out for today. However, I can help you. What kind of pills are you looking for?” answer the girl.
“Some healing pills, suitable for Mist Creation cultivators. I guess about twenty is enough,” said John.
The girl nodded her head before turning around and walking to the back of the building. He returned a few minutes later with a small jar and handed it to John. “This is it, twenty Life Mist Healing Pills. They are quite effective for Mist Creation cultivators, although if you get seriously injured they win ‘
“Thank you,” said John as he received the jar before putting it in his storage ring. John then walked out of the building, wondering where he should go next.
“Now that I think about it, the spatial area of my storage ring is quite small. At least I should upgrade to a better” thought John.
Although his storage ring was good for everyday use, he had no idea how long he would be away from the clan. It is better to be prepared and carry a ring big enough to carry everything he needs.
John turned to the street and walked for a while before arriving in front of a large, ornate building, the clan's Trade Hall. The seven-story-tall Trade Hall, and looking very similar to the Medicine Pavilion, the only difference was that the trading hall was solid white with a black roof.
After stepping inside, John found the officer in charge and walked towards him. “Sorry, I want to buy a storage ring” John said as he approached the clerk. The maid was a middle-aged man, who had short black hair and a thin black mustache.
“What type of storage ring? How big is the interior?” ask officer.
“My current ring is ten feet on each side, so I want one at least two or three times,” replied John.
“This is our best ring with that storage capacity. May I suggest this one,” the attendant said as he handed one to John before continuing, “The ring has thirty feet of interior space on each side, and the ring itself is made of Altrius Ore, which is a very sturdy material, even during fierce battles, your ring will be safe and will not risk breaking.
John took the ring and examined the interior space with his mind. The interior of the room was indeed thirty feet on each side, and was much larger than his current ring.
“I like it. How much is the ring?” ask John.
“10 gold pieces” replied the middle-aged officer.
John grimaced at the price. Even though he had several dozen gold coins he had saved through his clan allowance, it was still a decent part of his entire fortune.
“Oh well, still worth it,” thought John before saying to the officer “I'll take it. It's ten gold coins.”
John gave the gold clerk as he kept the storage ring. He moved all his stuff from his old storage ring to a new one before asking the clerk, “How much is this storage ring of mine worth?”
The clerk took the ring and checked it before answering “Two gold coins.”
John agreed with the price and received two gold coins, becoming a little less happy to spend ten gold coins. He walked out of the building and onto the main street, stopping to think if he needed anything else.
After a few seconds of thought, John muttered “How could I be that stupid. I had almost reached Mist Creation and I still did not have the proper techniques or attacks suitable for that level. I can't believe I forgot it all. My attacks are based on fundamental weapons that don't use Qi. ”
John shook his head in his own foolishness before heading down the road towards the White Feather Martial Library. He arrived a few minutes later and walked in, heading straight up as he was familiar with the library.
“I have read most of the books on the first three floors, but I have never been to the fourth floor and above. From what I know, the fourth floor has a clan Mist Creation technique, with the higher floors having a higher cultivation level. ”
John walked to the fourth floor, and at that moment he was greeted by an older guard.
“John? What are you doing here?” ask the older man.
“I'm here to browse the clan's Mist Creation technique. Although I have not become a Fog Creation cultivator, I have already started absorbing Qi into my body, so it is only a matter of time” John replied. Normally one would have to have a suitable cultivation level to gain access to the floor, but John decided to try his luck.
The elder thought about it for a moment before nodding his head and saying, “Well, I guess that makes sense. Well then, you can go inside. Do you have an idea of what you are looking for?” ask the older man.
“Well, I guess some techniques for great swords, oh and also scythe if we have. Also some movement technique will be nice” replied John.
“Sabit yes? Yes, we do have some great sword techniques, but I think we only have one scythe technique. Unfortunately it was in a language that was not recognized by anyone in the clan. It had been in the clan for several hundred years but since no one could read it, no one would be willing to learn it. We only know it's a sickle technique because there is a small scythe drawn at the top of the page “ansi older. John spoke with the elder more to find out the location of the technique before going inside.
As he stepped into the fourth floor, John could see dozens of bookshelves each containing dozens of books and scrolls. “There must be more than three hundred books here” thought John in astonishment as he started walking towards the great sword technique.
Arriving there a few seconds later, John began to read the names on the back of the book. “Mountain Crusher Sword, Fierce Splitting Technique, Flowing Sword Art.”
“Wow, these are some impressive sounding techniques” thought John while taking a few books off the shelf and starting to read his summary on the first page. After finishing those books, John came back and picked up more great sword techniques and read their summaries.
After reading all the books, John decided to use “Mountain Crushing Sword”.
“This technique uses a cultivator's pure power to unleash devastating attacks, and even has a powerful long-range sword light attack. My body has always been much stronger than usual, so this technique suits me perfectly
John then walked to the location indicated by the elder to have a sickle technique. After a few seconds of searching, he saw it. It wasn't even a book and instead was just a single page sitting alone on a shelf. The courtyard looked quite old and seemed to be made from some sort of hiding place. John looked at the courtyard for a moment before slowly grabbing it. As he picked it up and started to read it, a disappointed expression flashed across his face.
