Chapter 17: 17
In another part of the Skycleave Forest, a man and a woman are seen walking through the forest. Both of them looked to be around fourteen years old, and both of them were wearing pure white robes with dazzling blue lightning embroidered on the back of the robe.
“This part of the forest doesn't seem to have what we're looking for. Maybe we should go to one of the more powerful clans in the area and wonder,” the girl said.
“We will do if it is a solution. Do you think if the clan found out of this, they would freely tell us about it? The only way we will find out if it exists or not is to find it ourselves “ replied the boy.
A small object suddenly appeared in his hand. It was shaped like a small disc, and had many complicated-looking runes engraved on its surface. Sending his Qi into the item, the runes on the disk began to glow, before finally dimming and returning to normal.
“There is nothing here as expected. Let's keep looking around. We only need to be within thirty miles for this disk to detect it,” the boy said while saving the disk.
As the two of them spoke, a pair of eyes stared at the two of them from above.
“Desir!”
The boy and girl turned to look at the beast quickly lunging towards them from the tree canopy above. The beast had four muscular limbs, a thick tail, and was dark green and thick scaly. Dozens of large spikes were seen protruding from his back and head.
Just as the powerful beast was about to reach them, a light suddenly appeared, splitting the beast in two. Both halves flew past the two, smashing into the ground fiercely behind them.
“This mama is everywhere in this forest” exclaimed the boy in disdain as he put down his sword and started walking away, not giving the beast a second glance. The girl nodded her head as she followed the boy deeper into the forest.
Had John been here, he would have been very surprised. The savage beast that had just been killed so easily was the Tree Baloth, and was the equivalent of a late Mist Creation cultivator.
A week later…
The moon hung high in the dark sky. The light from the fire that John created flickered, illuminating his meditating figure. After meditating for several hours, John slowly opened his eyes and exhaled heavily.
“I can feel myself getting closer and closer to the Mist Creation” realm John thought as he took out a piece of meat from his storage and put it on fire.
As he watched the legs of the meat being roasted on the fire, John thought of his journey over the past week. He had fought and killed over a dozen Body Refining level monsters, with each battle helping him advance in cultivation and battle experience.
“It should be a few more weeks until I advance into the realm of Fog Creation. Once I do, I can start venturing deeper into the forest,” John thought as he took a meat leg from the fire and bit him. Juice flowed down John's chin as he devoured his flesh. After finishing his meal, John arranged his formation disc and fell asleep.
The next morning, John woke up early and picked up the leftovers from last night. After a small breakfast, John wakes up and begins to venture further into the woods.
“Let's be a little more adventurous today,” John said as he turned a little more to the right than usual, away from roads and civilizations as he did the week before.
A few hours later, John saw the Iron Tusked Boar. Although the Iron Ivory Pigs were not very strong, they were still on par with Blood Refining Cultivators.
“This pig is pretty weak, but I heard the iron ivory pork is pretty good. Time to hunt” John thought as he began walking towards the boar.
Although John can sneak into a boar and kill it before he sees it, John prefers to let his prey see it. If he wants to fight, John will be treated to a fight. If you want to run, John can practice his movements and footwork as he chases the animal.
“Snap!”
The sound of a broken twig under John's leg reminded the boar. The boar looked up and saw John, at which point the boar screeched and charged towards him.
“Blowout!”
John's fist collided with the boar's tusks, sending the boar flying backwards. He immediately dashed forward and continued with another punch, which landed on the still-dropped boar.
Another explosion resounded as the boar was once again sent flying backwards. After tumbling backwards for dozens of yards, the boar finally stopped and lethargicly bounced back. Looking at John with fear in his eyes, the boar immediately turned around and fled.
John started chasing the boar, while working on the basic teachings of the Five-Step Movement Technique. Although the technique required Qi in order to function properly, John kept emulating the technique, learning the basics as best he could. This way, once John stepped into the realm of Fog Creation, he would have already mastered the basics of the technique and could learn the rest more quickly.
After a few minutes of chasing the boar through the dense forest, John watched the boar suddenly stop. Surprised by the wild boar's strange behavior, John also stopped. The boar looked back at John and again in front of him, before taking off to the side.
“What does it do? By running to the side instead of directly from me, I will be able to catch up easier” John thought as he watched the boar escape.
John thought of chasing, but the wild boar's strange actions made John act more cautiously. John walked to where the boar had stopped, at which time a small open field in the forest began to be seen. In the middle of the open was a large cave.
“It looks like there is something inside the cave that caused the boar to decide to take a chance with me rather than whatever was there.”
John climbed one of the nearby trees and sat on a branch. He observed the cave for several hours but saw no activity at all.
“So far no activity has happened,” John said as he got off the tree and started walking towards the mouth of the cave.
John reached the mouth of the cave before stopping. He peered into the cave, but only saw a long straight cave that finally mixed into darkness. After peering into the cave for a while, John took out his greatsword and continued inside.
“There may be a powerful Body Refinement level monster inside. If I end up meeting something I can't handle,
After a few minutes of walking, the cave became so dark that John could barely see in front of him. Just as he was about to pull out a torch to light up the path, he saw a small light further into the cave.
“Hmm? What lights it” thought John while starting to walk towards him.
After carefully walking forward for a minute, the cave passage opened to reveal an enormous cavern that was extremely spacious. The cave was wide and within a few hundred meters, and had a ceiling tens of meters high. As his eyes scanned the cave, John suddenly stopped, his eyes wide open in shock.
In the middle of the cave, a very beautiful flower could be seen. The flower looked like a sunflower, but it emitted a beautiful white light that illuminated the cave.
“A Mist Essence Sunflower” exclaimed John was shocked as he stared at the flower.
The Misty Essence of Sunflowers is a rather rare flower that only grows in dark and damp places. The flower naturally absorbed the most basic form of Qi, producing the white radiance it emitted. Since the Mist Essence Sunflower absorbed the most basic Qi essence, it was an item that was extremely beneficial to Body Refinement cultivators.
Cultivating in the Blood Refinement realm in front of the flower would allow cultivators to sense the Qi around him deeper, as well as absorb it more easily. However, since the flower only absorbed the most basic level of Qi, it was only useful for Body Refinement cultivators. Because it was difficult to grow, as well as its limited use, most clans and sects did not have access to this flower.
John looked at the flower intently.
“If I can cultivate in front of this flower, I will be able to advance to Fog Creation in a few days. Not only that, cultivating in front of the flower will also help stabilize my cultivation base, resulting in a much sturdier one.” base
John started walking on the flower as he quickly froze, his breath choking in his throat. Because of his excitement over the flower, John did not realize that just ten meters away from the flower was sleeping a powerful Fog Creation realm savage beast.
