Chapter 111: 111
John quickly assesses the creature, and realizes why it's a problem. His cultivation was at the half-step Qi Condensation Realm, and could clearly see perfectly within the fog. Half-Step Cultivation meant that the person or creature had started advancing to the next realm, but had yet to fully advance. They were stronger than late stage cultivators of the same rank.
‘Obviously the creature won't go all out, and tried to tire me out to find an easy gap. He should be very careful, and try to use the fog to the maximum. But I've managed to eliminate that advantage, at least for now. ‘
John looked around at the split fog and realized that it was moving slowly.
‘I may have a minute or so before the fog returns to normal. I need to end this quickly. ‘
The Supreme Art of Combat!
John decided to use his strongest condition from the start. Although he did not want to touch his blood reserves, it was best to finish the fight as quickly as possible rather than dragging him out. Also, John is convinced that he cannot outrun the creature. Although he was most likely faster than the creature, the swamp held him back, making his movements slower than usual. The creature however, was a swamp creature, and most likely was not hindered at all by it.
Myriad Annihilation Scythe: First Attack!
John sent out the first attack of the Myriad Annihilation Scythe, and a sharp Qi beam cut straight towards the creature.
The peng!
The creature sent out many of its arms to block the attack, and managed to fend it off. However, a second, stronger Qi attack followed right after, shocking the beast. He raised his arm to block again, but this time, some of his claws shattered as he was pushed back a little.
Myriad Annihilation Scythe: Third Attack!
John sent out a third attack from the Myriad Annihilation Scythe, and his strength was even stronger than the first two attacks combined. He had advanced to the Late Mist Creation in essence cultivation before he entered pocket realm, and made sure to study the third attack. This was the first time he had used it in battle, and its strength shocked him.
The explosion!
The creature was unprepared for such a barrage of attacks, and a third strike landed on his chest, opening a huge wound and dropping it backwards quite far. The creature was a demon-based creature, and used its advantages in the fog to attack. It was not used for direct confrontation, and John's quick and consecutive attacks caught him off guard.
‘Now!’
John prepared to take advantage of the gap he had just made to dart forward and end the first with a full-powered attack from his huge scythe. However, just as he started running forward, he stopped.
“Really? After all that effort, you'll just run away? At least give me your blood essence!” John shouted as he watched the creature escape back into the depths of the swamp.
“Although my third attack injured the creature, it was not fatal at all. I want to see how my strength is piling up against a half-step Qi Condensation beast. Obviously this creature avoids direct confrontation as much as possible.”
John was quite disappointed that he was unable to add the creature's blood essence to his reserve, but at least he was no longer attacked inside the fog.
‘Now I have a problem. “I don't know which way I'm being pushed, and I don't know which way Miko is going. Should I wait out of the fog, or should I try to get out myself?”
John thought about it for a moment before he decided to wait with his vigil raised. However, two days had passed and the fog had still not dissipated.
John made his decision and moved forward. Wasting time in this lifetime opportunity was something that John could not handle. He prefers to wait for Miko, as Miko waits for him inside the cave, but the situation is different. The fog could last for months for everything he knew, and that would be a problem.
John chose a random direction and started walking forward.
…
Reverse!
A figure of a creature suddenly erupted from the water next to him, its attack pointing straight at John's back.
The explosion!
A punch sent the creature flying, and its half-dead corpse passed over the murky water for some time before falling beneath its surface.
‘I keep getting attacked by this shitty creature. How long till I leave this fucking fog? ‘
John had been walking for two more days, trying to get out of the fog, but he was still trapped inside. Many creatures had attacked him all this time, although John was relieved that no one as strong as the ten-handed creature attacked him anymore.
Just when he thought he would never be able to leave the mist, John's eyes lit up as he realized the thickness of the fog was starting to diminish. After running forward for a few minutes, John breathed in fresh air with a big smile on his face.
“Finally, I came out of the fog.”
After leaving the fog, John's swamp ended and the vast forest in front of him was revealed. The towering trees dominate the land, and the lush vegetation makes it feel alive and lively, in stark contrast to the dead swamps behind.
John quickly climbs one of the first trees he can find and once he gets to the top, looks around the swamp in the distance to see Miko. However, even after several hours of searching, John could find nothing but swamp creatures that roamed inside.
“Either he's gone, or he's still inside for some reason. Anyway, I don't know where he is, so the only thing I can do is keep moving forward.”
John jumped from the tree and after examining his surroundings, began venturing into the forest. Old trees loomed over him as John stepped forward.
…
In another part of the pocket realm, a group of red-robed boys were seen walking together. The boy in front held onto an item and checked it periodically.
“How far is he?” ask Dylan.
“Looks like he's about fifty miles ahead of us. We only need a few days to catch up as long as he doesn't run,” Jason replied as he continued to inspect the item.
“Good. I can't wait to look down on her pleading face as I end it!” Dylan responded as a wide smile appeared on his face. He held a new sword in his hand, and stroking it repeatedly, was clearly a powerful item he had obtained within the pocket realm.
