CHAPTER 70: 70

Chapter 70: 70

A loud breath immediately reverberated throughout the crowd, and heated discussions soon followed.

“Seven hundred. That's the highest of anyone here!”

“And he doesn't even look that old. He seems to be about thirteen years old. How could he be so strong?”

“Yeah, I think we know who will win this tournament.”

Discussions soon broke out in the stands and groups of participants to discuss the astonishing number Dylan had revealed. Despite being the youngest in the group of eighty-four juniors at the age of thirteen, his strength was by far the highest. John and Ryan squinted at the score before they both stared at Dylan.

A proud haughty expression appeared on Dylan's face as he walked proudly back to his group.

“There is nothing but a village person” muttered Dylan as he returned to his group.

On the way home, he made sure to look at John, as if he were looking at an ant. John looked straight at Dylan, but refused to get angry because of his disparaging gaze. Although Dylan's score was impressive, John was still confident in cultivating the belated Mist Creation body, the Eternal Asura Body, and his Supreme Combat Art.

The crowd calmed down after a while, where Waylon once again spoke to the crowd.

“We will install the flagship on the board in front of the stage in one hour. The tournament will begin. Please do anything for a while, but no fighting.”

John and Ryan started walking towards his clan sitting in the stands. They arrived a minute later and joined the group.

“Haha, good work you two.” Barden Fenix greets Ryan and John with a big smile. Ryan's father, an Elder of the clan, also congratulated the two of them.

“So, what do you think of that Dylan?” Barden asked John with a serious look.

John thought about it for a moment before answering. “He's really scary, but I have my own confidence.”

“Haha, good. After all, you've made your parents proud of the score you revealed.” Barden responded with a laugh and a big smile.

“Daddy, how does that stone tablet work?” John asked curiously. He knew it was based on formation, though,

“Formations are things created by formation masters. Just like alchemy masters, formation masters focused on their specialized fields, not just on cultivation. Based on their understanding in formations, formation masters drew or carved lines and shapes into an object according to the heavenly daos, and incorporated their own Qi into the creation process to form a complete formation. The lines then utilized the surrounding Qi in the air, or Qi crystals if they needed stronger Qi to do what the formation master wanted. This tablet in particular measures the level of Qi put into it and measures it. “

John nodded in understanding. Although his father's explanation is quite broad and vague, John is at least able to understand a little about formations in general. He knew his clan had several Core Formation formation masters, but never personally interacted with them or learned from them.

An hour later, Waylon's voice was heard. “Seeding has been posted, all of them please see what your seeding is and what stage you will strive for.”

“Good luck, and get out!” Barden cheers John on as John and Ryan walk to the stage.

John and Ryan arrive at the board and search for their names.

“Try see.I ... number sixteen, passable.” Ryan was quite happy with the placement. Unless he is defeated by the lower seed, Ryan takes a good shot to get into the top twenty needed to qualify for the tournament.

John looked down the seeding list to find his name. There was no tension, because he knew he was in the bottom five.

Since they were only five arenas, the initial twenty fights to determine the twenty people who were eliminated would occur in four rounds. Ryan got a bye for this round, as his placement in sixteenth automatically put him in the round of sixty-four.

“It should be an easy fight for you. Let's go to the stands and watch some fights while waiting for your fight,” Ryan suggested.

“That sounds good.” John and Ryan jumped back into the stands and sat down to watch the upcoming fight.

Waylon Varis took to the main stage once again, and announced to all competitors. “I officially announced the start of this tournament. There will be a jury dedicated to each fight. You should listen to the instructions they give you. Now, all the fighters in the first round, the,

Cheers broke out in the crowd at the start of the tournament. The first round participants walked towards their respective arenas, and after a few words from the jury, they started their fight.

John and Ryan watch the fight begin, at which point Miko walks to where John and Ryan are sitting and joins them.

“Hei Miko” call John say hello.

“Hey, good work up there. Seeing you silencing the Red Valley Clowns is so refreshing.” Miko had a wide smile on her face as she recalled the face of the Crimson Valley Sect group when John mentioned the naked incident, as well as her score revealed.

“Haha, I also feel refreshed. But don't worry, that fresh feeling just started.” John replied in a confident tone. Miko understood the meaning of John's words and started laughing.

“Good. I'm sure if you join the tournament, you have good reason to do so. I hope you and Ryan beat some Crimson Valley Clowns.” Miko gave a thumbs up to John as she pushed him in the upcoming fight. The three of them continued chatting while watching the fight below them.

In the five arenas, various techniques and abilities were used as juniors of the five powers fought at their full strength. Although the fight was interesting, no one cared too much about who won or lost. This battle consisted of forty lowest ranked juniors, and even the winner would most likely be eliminated in the next round.

The crowd spent the next hour watching the first three rounds of the contesting participants. The Fenix Clan had several juniors participating in the early rounds, and more than half of them were eliminated.

“Tsk, what a disappointing generation. We're too easy to treat them.” Orren Fenix said while looking at the eliminated participant.

“True, even though we have some great geniuses like Parker and a few others, the quality of our junior as a whole is a bit lacking this time around. Looks like we became complacent and too easy on them.” Cade Fenix shook his head at the results so far. Normally, the Fenix Clan dominated the Qi Condensation tournament and the Mist Creation tournament.

While Parker managed to take second place in the Qi Condensation tournament, the Fenix Clan that performed in this tournament was already lacking. Of the fifteen overall participants, six had been eliminated, and it was only in the first round that it was not even a problem. Compared to previous years, this junior harvest was performing quite poorly.

“So, you have money to win this tournament?” Barden asked his brother and father as he watched the fight below.

“While I hate to admit it, Dylan has to win.” Orren Fenix immediately exclaimed. He hated the Crimson Valley Sect as well, but had to admit that Dylan was a monster.

Cade Fenix and Rodi Fenix thought about the question for a moment before they also agreed with Orenn. “Most likely Dylan. Maybe Dalton from the Flowing River Sect was if he had outstanding battle techniques, but I still doubt him.”

Barden sat quietly there as he listened to the answers of his brother and father. “So, who do you think will win?” Orenn asked curiously?

“Hmm, who knows. All I know is we will have a good show on our hands,” Barden smiled as he replied. Others were curious as to what Barden meant, but they did not ask for clarification as they would soon find out.

John, Ryan and Miko continued to talk and watch the fight until about an hour later, when the third round was finally completed and the fourth round of the initial preliminary preliminary round began.

“Alright, I'm up. I will meet you guys in a few minutes,” John said nonchalantly as he got off his chair and walked towards his battle platform.
