Chapter 110: 110

“What now?” Miko asked in annoyance as the mist enveloped them.

“Entailah, but be prepared and do not relax your vigilance,” replied John while taking out his scythe, while Miko pulled out her sword.

Although neither of them said anything, they both knew that the fog was unusual. The fog slowly approached them, and before long the fog reached them. Both John and Miko were shocked.

“My divinity is limited by fog. It can usually reach a hundred yards, but it is currently limited to just ten yards,” Miko commented seriously. John nodded in agreement, as heavenly sense was also constrained. With the limited visibility of the fog, in addition to the limited sense of divinity, the two of them were basically blind after a few meters.

“Stay close, and don't move. This fog will eventually pass, and then we can move on,” John said as he got the best idea he could think of. If they were to walk around in this fog, they would be separated soon.

Both of them stood in place, senses pushed as much as possible as they waited for the fog to pass by. Almost an hour passed, and the two began to think that it was just an unusual fog when suddenly, a claw swung through the thick fog, heading straight towards John.

The peng!

The scythe and claws collided, and John was thrown sideways into the turbid swamp.

“John! Wait..”

The peng!

John hears Miko calling before he also hears Miko confronting the attack with her sword. With a bewildering mist, Miko's voice faded further and further into the distance as the two of them separated.

John's feet sank into the water all the way to his knees, and he soon found another claw strike coming straight at him. Due to the small distance that John could see in front of him, each attack gave him a moment to respond before it reached him.

John continued to fend off attack after attack as a barrage of claws relentlessly attacked him from within the fog. It seemed like he was being attacked by many creatures at once, and John found himself being pushed back further and further as he did all he could to withstand the barrage of attacks. Although his attack was not very strong, his claws were extremely sharp, and John knew that even his body would be damaged if enough attacks were allowed to land on him.

The attack continued for some time, and John became increasingly frustrated with his current predicament. He could not see exactly where his enemy was, so counterattacks became difficult. Every time he found a crack and ran forward to meet his enemy, all he found was mist. Clearly, the source of the claw attack was extremely skillful to remain hidden within the fog.

While thinking about the solution, a claw escaped John's defense and touched his shoulder.

Blood spurted slightly as John watched the claw pierce through his skin. Although the wound was not very deep, even a single glance like this had already broken through his body. If it was another cultivator, half their shoulders would be eliminated by the attack.

‘What do I do? I would be fine if I used my Supreme Combat Art, but I cannot use my Supreme Combat Art unless I know it will end the fight, otherwise, it was just a reserve of blood essence that was wasted. His eyes brightened slightly as a thought appeared in his head.

“I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try.”

While fending off the attack, John exhaled all the air in his lungs before he took in as deep a breath as his body allowed. Air continued to flow into his lungs as small bursts of air were forcefully sucked into his lungs. Due to his extremely tough and strong body, both externally and internally, John discovered that his lungs were able to withstand much greater loads.

He had come up with this idea right then and there, but was unsure whether his lungs would be able to withstand the required load. His hesitation immediately dissipated, and after breathing out for nearly ten seconds, John opened his mouth wide and shouted with all his might.

“AHHHHHHHHH!”

An extremely loud shout echoed throughout the swamp, and the pressure from the shout formed a small wave of concussion that forcefully pushed back the surrounding fog. A wide smile appeared on John's face when he saw that his idea had indeed worked, before quickly turning into a serious frown.

The fog that was pushed back quickly revealed the source of the attack, and John was shocked to learn that it was only one creature, not much he had expected. The creature was nearly fifteen feet tall with two hind legs, and had a body and head similar to that of a lizard. However, his body had decomposed to the point of looking like a corpse, and ten long arms with sharp claws protruded from his back. A thick aura of death permeated from the creature.

‘Qi Condensation Home half step!’
