I was happy to hear Theo filming the events of the day. So that's why he didn't help me. She needs that evidence to show her parents who Chika really is. Theo and Matt don't have to worry. Nor will I allow that woman to be his wife.
Even if I don't like Theo and hate his obnoxious attitude, I won't be silent to see him getting married to the bad girl. He and his family were too precious for that selfless girl. Aunty is also too good for Mama Chika who likes to demean the person.
“But Big Brother is cool, lo, on the tape. I just found out Brother can be mean, mean, ciaatt ...,” he said as he floated his hand as if he was fighting with someone.
“Hai!!” greet someone from behind me. Matt sighed loudly, assuring me that I didn't hear wrong. “You like to eat here too?”
Matt just kept quiet, didn't answer. Chika used the opportunity to sit by his side, but Matt was unwilling to shift. I smile at him seeing it. The woman did not look offended, but sat down next to me. I chose to give up instead of making a fuss.
“I was shopping for our sightseeing this weekend. What do you want? Do you like chips, bread, or biscuits?” He peeked inside his grocery bag. “I bought some, so you can choose it later.”
Matt just shut up. He did not stop chewing his food. I did the same thing. Moreover, Chika did not try to talk to me. She must have been upset to realize I witnessed the cold attitude her future sister-in-law had towards her.
Chika raised her hand, calling the maid. He ordered the same meal as Matt. Spontaneously, my disciple let out a loud sigh. The woman by my side did not understand or pretended not to know that the young man did not like her presence.
When I finished eating, I went to the bathroom. Matt quickly finished all the food on his plate. I didn't go to the bathroom, but the cashier. Since I'm carrying a bag, then I can pay my bills and Matt, then go back to our table.
“You're done?” I asked, seeing Matt's plate was clean.
He nodded, drank the glass, and stood up. “Come, Brother.”
“Lo, where are you going?” ask Chika confused. The food is still plenty, so he won't be able to follow us. Because of that, I intentionally paid our bills and did not enter his share.
“Ke anywhere from lo no.” Matt took my hand and took me away.
“I paid,” I said, as he walked towards the cashier.
He sighed in relief, then walked towards the door. The officer opened it up for us while saying thank you. I smiled in satisfaction at Chika being so upset over Matt's attitude towards her. I don't know what he did on Christmas and New Year's Day until this young man was so angry with him.
I used the rest of the vacation busking to collect tuition. Although Mama has given a lot of money, my efforts should not be slack. There may be many unexpected needs that will require a lot of money.
If only I had passed the scholarship, I wouldn't have to work like this anymore. Unfortunately, none of the scholarships I applied for responded. Theo had been very good at helping me, but I failed to impress the scholarship giver with my achievements.
There could be many other applicants who are better than me. Making money like this makes me unable to actively follow the campus organization. Though it is one of the advantages that I believe will be needed later when applying for a job. Any company expects its applicants to have work experience or at least organize as evidence of familiarity with teamwork.
“Fuck woman!” The violin I was playing in was suddenly hit so hard that it slipped out of my grasp.
The people around me took surprised breaths. Some of them tried to help by taking the thing and seeing the situation. I looked towards the woman who did not know who had done such a rude thing.
“What did you say to Matt until he was so rude, heh!? You poisoned his mind by slandering me? Yes!?” hardiknya while pushing my body with his index finger.
“Hey, what are you doing?” protest of one of the spectators. “We're hearing him play, why are you bothering him instead?”
“Iya. If you want to make a noise, then later. Why did you throw the violin!?” another protest.
“Young people today do not know ethics. Beautiful-beautiful rough like this, did your parents never educate you?” the other scolding.
Chika turned wryly looking one after another both men and women scolded her rude attitude. He shriveled and retreated realizing his position was unfavorable. Without saying anything more, he immediately took a thousand steps.
“This, son,” said a mother, return my violin to me.
“Thank you.” I accepted it and immediately checked her condition. Only the body was scuffed, but all the other parts were fine. Nothing is broken either.
Fortunately, I was wearing my old violin. If Matt's violin breaks, I won't be able to forgive him. Matt gave me the most expensive and best violin I've ever had. So, I know the price is not cheap.
Their street show must have ended in disaster so he had to look for me in this place to vent his anger. Goody. Let him and his parents know that Matt is not stupid like his father and mother. He can judge good and bad people.
I was ready to go busking again that morning. Feeling the phone in my bag vibrate, I took it out. From an unknown number, but I answered it. “Halo.”
“Good morning. Is this really Amarilis Josepha?” ask the woman across.
The woman introduced herself as a representative of the company that provided the scholarship. That sad thing makes me hope again. My heart was pounding between anxiety and happiness. What news is there that they're calling me now?
“Sorry. Isn't it past six months? Why do I just get the news now?” many confused.
“Mbak gave the wrong phone number. Therefore, we cannot contact you. We do not choose other candidates, because your application is more interesting. Your achievements are good in the first semester, so our employers intend to wait for the opening of the next wave of scholarships. Who knows you tried again,” he explained.
“I gave the wrong number?” my words don't believe. “I'm sorry I've made you hard.” I feel bad.
“We are not difficult, it is you who lost,” error. Ah, right too.
“Then where can you get my number?” many confused.
“From Mr. Altheo Husada. Incidentally he and the company leader chatted and your name was called. So, we wait for you tomorrow at the office at nine in the morning?” he said, reminding me of our appointment.
“Iya. I will definitely come. Thank you very much, Ma'am,” I was moved.
It's only fitting that I don't receive any answers from every scholarship I apply for. I gave the wrong phone number. I checked the application I sent and it was correct. There was one number that was typed wrong. Oh, dearGod. Stupid me.
But they were very kind to keep giving me that scholarship. Though there were still other tests I had to undergo, but they did not give them to other candidates. What was so special about my proposal that they were interested in me?
I fulfilled the promise by coming that morning to their company. The receptionist gave me a card to wear and a security guard drove me to the floor where the interview room was located.
“Amarily Josepha?” greet a woman who looks at me with a frown.
“Iya, right,” I replied.
He swept his eyes from head to toe, then returned to my face. “You are very different from the photo,” he said confused.
“Ah, sorry. Is this because my weight is reduced?” my question is not good.
“Outstanding.” He's amazed. “Ah, forgive my disrespectful attitude. Come, I inter.”
I was taken to a fairly large room with an oval-shaped table in the middle with several chairs surrounding it. Then in front of me was a large window whose curtains were opened so that the room was very bright. On the wall parallel to the door there is a sideboard with plates, cups, and some places containing food and drinks. Looks like this is a meeting room.
“Please sit. My boss will be coming soon,” he said pointing at the seat in front of me.
“Thank you.” I followed his request.
I took a deep breath, then took it out slowly. Theo told them about my correct phone number. We haven't seen or talked for a long time. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his help.
It turns out that he didn't completely forget me. After what I did to him, he still cares about my education. He must know very well I really hope to be free from work and focus on learning. Moreover, I will immediately compile a thesis.
The door opened and three adults entered the room. They were all very friendly and I understood, my proposal caught their attention. All of my plans going forward are very detailed and they hope I will join their company later, if I want to.
They were even satisfied with the results of my academic grades in the second and third semesters that I deliberately brought. Even so, they gave me relief if my grades dropped the following semester. They only tolerate one B grade and there should be no C value so that the scholarship from them I still receive until graduation.
“What?” I just don't believe it. “This scholarship will also cover the graduation fee?” They laughed when they heard it. I was embarrassed.
My steps were very light even though I still had to wait for the next news from them. I'm sure they'll give me that academic help. Otherwise, why would they still contact me after six months have passed?
“I really don't believe this.” Chika was blocking me when I turned the road to my residence. Not just two, there were four people now standing behind him. “You can't get Theo, so you tease Matt.”
I should have felt the trepidation of seeing those four big-bodied people, but hearing him insult my relationship with Matt, my blood boiled. “You may insult me, but not my students. He's a good young man.”
“Good young man can be evil if his brain continues to be poisoned by sharp-mouthed women like you,” spray. “This is my last warning.”
He retreated, then the four men advanced simultaneously. Damnit. I looked around me from the corner of my eye, looking for a tree or pole to outwit them like before. Four, how am I supposed to avoid this four-man attack?
