Home For My Soul
214|Open Promise

Rahma is living a better life. Even if we don't see each other again, we remain friends on social media. So, we know each other's life development. He helped his father by working in their hotel in Medan. His life is now calmer and more peaceful without chasing after Jericho's love again.

Nisa has been serving a trial and has been sentenced to six months in prison. It was nothing compared to her reputation being ruined because of the pain she did with a man who was not her husband. So, when he is free in December, he cannot live a quiet life.

His parents sued him with Edrick. They are ashamed of their daughter's actions that are known to the public. Although they could not break the blood, they vowed to refuse his arrival to their home. Nisa is completely alone now.

Chika is still a Chika. He did not stop trying to improve his damaged self-image with positive posts. Several times he took social actions that were not only posted in private, but also covered by the media.

I don't care what he does in his life, as long as he stays away from me. I still like to tease him by posting pictures of me with Theo on my social media. My last photo that so many people liked was announcing my pregnancy.

We were inundated with congratulations from online friends. Those who know Theo are scrambling to add to my account as friends. I had to create a second account to accept them as my best friend. Unlike the previous me, as Theo's wife, we need all forms of positive promotion for the betterment of her business as well.

My plan went more than I prepared. Then it's time for me to say goodbye properly. If I were still Katelia, I wouldn't be able to marry Theo. My reputation will also be the same as my three friends because of my mischief during school. And most miraculously, I will probably never feel like a mother.

So, I have to do this. “Come, I'm ready.”

Without a single shred of hesitation, I stepped my foot into the public burial ground. Theo held my hand on my left side, while Mother was on my right. Brother Nolan and Brother Jericho walk in front. And I know where Katelia's grave is, because I was present on the day of the funeral. If I didn't do that, I wouldn't believe my body was gone.

My feet were getting heavier and closer from his grave. I don't know why I was so afraid that my soul would leave this body once it was near the real house. I really hope it happens when Amarylis just dies, because my body is still intact.

After all these years, I don't want to imagine what my body looks like now. To be more precise, eight years and five months and three days have my body in the ground. Must have been bones. I stopped my steps for a moment to calm down.

“Honey, you don't have to do this,” Theo said in a worried tone.

“I'm fine. I'm just afraid something bad happened to my soul,” I.

“Nothing will happen, Nak.” Mother held my hand with both hands. “What happened to you will not be repeated. Amaryllis is gone and Katelya's body is bone. After all, you exchanged bodies in the water, not on land.”

“Down right,” murmured me. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “Good. I'm really ready now.”

I did not let my fear win and continued walking until I stood in front of the tombstone. I read the name on that beautiful black marble. Katelia Wulan Wibowo's. Tears fell down my cheeks seeing that name engraved there. Eight years, but I'm still sad every time I remember Katelia's gone. People know me as Amarylis.

“I'm sorry, Amarylis. I am so guilty of you. My evil deeds have kept me and my family from suffering misfortune. Maybe we'll keep going through this because I didn't have time to apologize to you before you left for good.”

I'm not proud of everything I've done for him in the three years we've been on the bench at SMU. I insulted her physique, hurt her body, even demeaned her family, which is now part of my life. Ironical.

“No, Nak.” My mom hugged me from behind. “Riris is not a vengeful child. I believe he forgave all your mistakes. Just as we have forgiven you. The bad things we're going through aren't because of your actions. As long as there are bad people, then we will be hit by misfortune, no matter how well we treat them.”

“You're right. You paid a lot for everything you did first. Don't blame yourself anymore, son. You uniting two families of different statuses is a miracle that only you and Amarylis can do,” comfort Papa. Hercules who stood by his side nodded.

“Do not discuss status,” scold Mother. “You successful entrepreneurs now. Our social level is the same. In a few years I'm sure you have more branches from our hotel.”

May this help him rest in peace in eternity. Because it helps me live a more peaceful life. My feelings of guilt were lessened, especially since the Amaryllis family had forgiven and accepted me fully being a part of them.

We cleaned the tomb, then filled the pot with fresh flowers that we brought. Father and Mother very well have given a very beautiful tomb. As long as I live, they always give their best for me. When I left, they did the same thing.

I stepped lightly as I left that place. Mother and Mama told me they were diligent in pilgrimage to clean up the place. Initially, they came whenever they could, but next, they made a pact to visit together.

The people who knew us must have seen our behavior very strange. Buried here is Katelia, but Mama is just as diligent in making pilgrimages with Mother. Katelya is a child who has been evil to her daughter. This will be the secret we brought.

“Well, where are we going now?” asked Brother Jericho while patting his stomach.

“You only choose a place,” says Father.

“Really?” said Brother Jericho happy. “OK. We ate at Husada's restaurant just for free!” My parents laughed at her words.

After lunch, we continued our journey to our second destination. Five hours of road trip I missed by sleeping soundly. When it arrived, it was already dark, so we went straight to the inn. Dad proudly showed his hotel to our group.

We had dinner after putting our things in the room. The atmosphere of Sunday night is very felt with the full dining room. I'm so happy for my family's success in keeping our hotel crowded on weekends. There are a lot of rivals around it.

“Lo sure ready to do this?” asked Theo when we were in the room.

“I have to do it, baby. It's the last thing that's still stuck. I don't want to feel this forever. It's time for me to face my own fears. Eight years is a very long time can not do the thing I like the most.”

“Lo can find another hobby, Kat. There are hundreds, no, thousands of activities you can try. I don't believe no one will match your taste,”.

“Honey,” I framed his face with both my hands, “I promise I'll be fine. If I feel uncomfortable, I'll back off. I promise I won't force myself.”

He looked at me emotionlessly. “Good. One time I would not act like I was at Katelia's grave. I go straight home. Lo understand?”
