Hearing a laugh followed by two other typical laughs, I immediately knew who had done evil. My chest is sick, my clothes are also dirty due to lying on my stomach on the floor of the corridor leading to the lecture hall. People passing by no one wanted to help.
So, I tried my hardest to get up, but there was a leg on my back that forced me to lie down again. Damnit. If it wasn't because I didn't want to be considered insane, I would have already hit all three of them at this very second. Unfortunately, that is not Amaryllis's nature.
“Heh, Fat! Comeon, wakeup! Why just lie on this dirty floor? You like, yeah, sleeping in a dirty place like this?” jeered Chika, pressing hard on her legs on my back.
“This campus floor may be cleaner than her mattress, so she is at home.” Nisa laughed out loud.
“Iih, don't say the mattress is full of cockroaches.” Rahma goosebumps. “Hii, just deserve a slovenly face full of acne.” They shuddered, mocking me.
“Are you guys crazy!?” The sound of a savior who lately did not hesitate to help me escape from the three witch women.
“Do not interfere if you do not want your family to get into trouble, Theo,” threatened Chika who deliberately pressed her legs again.
“What can you do to my family?” The legs that were on my back disappeared, and two hands held onto my arms. “Come. Can you stand?”
“Iya. Thank you.” I refused his help and tried to get up on my own. My body is heavy, he won't be able to hold it. I wagged my clothes and pants that were dirty with dust, then continued my steps that had stopped.
“Amarilis, where are you going?” ask Theo.
“I don't want to be late for college,” I replied, without stopping my steps.
The first place I went was the toilet. I checked my dirty clothes, but the dust that stuck can be cleaned. The knee part of my pants that are hard to remove. Feeling the pain in one of my knees, there must be a scuff. I don't have time to check it out.
Thankfully, I arrived at the lecture hall before the lecturer came. I didn't want to make a bad impression on the first meeting. Pain in the knee, I ignored it. Although it was difficult at first, over time I got used to and could follow lectures until the last hour.
Seeing the three evil women standing near the exit, I turned around, intending to exit through the other end of the corridor. I was lazy to deal with them, but I wasn't so careful that I bumped into someone. Why am I always so fucking unlucky?
“Ah, forgive me. I accidentally,” I said, without seeing who I hit and rushed off the other way.
But my hand was held and pulled towards an empty lecture hall. I saw Theo walking in front of me. What the hell is he doing? If Chika and her friends find out I'm in this room, they'll come hurt me.
“Lo should not let the wound take too long or your knee will be full of scars.” He took off my hand and ordered me to sit down.
“I want to go home quickly because I will take care of this wound,” I said, defending myself.
“Lo road to limp so pain-bearing, indeed how far do you powerfully walk?” He's hanging out in front of me. “Come, lift up lo.” pants tip
Did he always do this to Amaryllis? Ah, I mean, to me before? He was always defending this fat girl, ah, I mean .. ah, that's it. I just found out every time I defended him, he took care of my wounds too. Yes, this handsome and rich young man is appraising a fat girl?
I grimaced softly when the medicine he applied to my wound was stinging. Since it was only a blister and there were no major injuries, he did not need to cover it with a bandage. Unfortunately, I had to go home with my pants folded so as not to hurt him worse.
He took me to my place. Really kind-hearted young man. Feeling his attention, I did not expect that he who was always cold, could do the thing that made my heart warm. No one has paid any attention to Amaryllis since I was in this fat body, only her.
I never liked him in school, because he was a hypocrite. He always stood up for the people I hurt, but I told him the truth. They are ugly, stupid, smelly, and slow. What wrong? Because they were weeping and moody, then my honesty was a sin, was it?
“Lo? Theo said you were sick, why did you come, Amarylis?” welcome Aunt Ruth who was surprised to receive my arrival.
“I'm fine, Auntie. Just a blister on the knee,” I said, correcting. Why did he say I was sick to his mother? My knees are just scratched and I can walk normally.
“True, you're not sick?” ask her with a worried tone.
“No, Aunt,” I said, expelling her worries.
“Alright, then. Comeon, enter. I'll call Matt.” He got out of the way so I could get through. “Matt!! Your teacher has arrived!!” he shouted as hard as he could,
My heart was beating fast in surprise. I had to get used to the way he called his second son. He didn't do the same to Theo. Maybe he was more obedient than his sister, so there was no need to shout.
We learned to be casually treated to snacks and cold drinks. The part I love most about teaching this young man. He looked at me voraciously with one eyebrow raised, then refocused on his task. Her mother who serves all this food, why should I refuse?
He had no idea what it was like to not be able to enjoy his favorite meal for a year and two months. So, I just relaxed to see him astonished to see that I did not stop taking the cake one by one until it was no longer there. Their chef can too. Her cooking ability is the same as the chef in my house, ah, I mean, Katelia's house.
“So, I'm going to study English tomorrow. We use that language when we speak, yes,” said the young man with sneaky eyes.
“Bby,” reply me casually.
After dinner, I hurried off before Aunt asked anyone to drive me home. Theo wasn't home, but I'm sure he'd tell anyone to change his duties. I need to get a bike as a means of transportation.
Since I had been studying on the sidelines of the changing hours of the course, I did not open any more books and preferred to sleep. It was only in the morning that I reread my notes and what the lecturer had shared the previous day.
“Morning,” greet Theo as I enter the campus gate.
I looked at him confused. What's he doing in this place? I followed the look of her eyes on my feet. I deliberately wore a skirt slightly above the knee so that the blisters were not covered in cloth and the medicine did not stain the cloth.
“Good, you wear a skirt so that your wound does not get worse,” he said relieved.
“What are you doing here?” many confused.
“Making sure you do not aggravate the wound,” he replied casually. “Come, I don't want to be late for college.”
I had to follow him. We just keep quiet. What's the point of walking together like this? But seeing Chika and her two friends stop at the spot looking at me with Theo, I smiled with satisfaction. It can be a way too. He meant to protect me from the three girls.
The lecture went well, the new lecturer I knew was so smart that we found it difficult to understand the language. Maybe I just need time to get used to the complicated campus system: students are required to actively seek information.
So I used the opportunity to stop by the library. There are also many students from similar majors who see a collection of books in it. While I was sitting and reading an interesting book I found, Chika and her two friends came in.
With a body this big, I knew it was impossible to hide. So, I tried to be relaxed and read the book. Every time I find something interesting, I write it down in my book. I was so swept away that I didn't realize the next lecture hour was about to start.
“Thank you for reminding me,” I said to a friend who reprimanded me.
“Sama-sama. Your name is Amaryllis, ‘kan?” tanyakanya. I nodded quickly. “Your name is unique, so you are easier to know.”
“Thank you. Sorry, I forgot your name,” I said, feeling bad.
“Sonata,” answered kindly.
We walked together to the lecture hall. Chika knew she couldn't disturb me in the room earlier, so I wasn't surprised to see her in the corridor. They just stared at me sharply, because someone else was walking with me.
“Who are they?” sonata asked confusedly with eyes fixed on the three young women. “I've seen them so angry with you several times. Do you know each other?”
“You don't know our seniors?” I asked back.
“Just know they are seniors, but I don't remember the name.” He shook his head slowly.
“They're my classmates at SMU. Because I was fat, ugly, and slow, they bullied me. If I knew they were also studying here—” I said, intentionally not finishing my sentence.
“You better report to our lecturer,” he said giving advice.
“It won't do any good. They're the children of rich people, the problem will definitely be solved by talking. Then I'll make them hurt more.” Realizing that, I began to feel ashamed of having acted so badly to many friends at school.
When I was Katelia, I did the same thing, including Amarylis. That's why this poor girl became the moons of Chika and her two friends, yes, because of my mistake as well. It doesn't feel good to be bullied like this.
“Wait, Amaryllis!” chika said when we just passed them. I had to stop.
“What's up?” I was surprised to see him hand out.
“Restore my wallet. I know you stole it.” He moved his hand, signaling for me to give him what he asked for.
“Wallet? I didn't steal your wallet,” I said, defending myself.
“Cautiously accuse, Ma'am. Not good,” said Sonata without trepidation.
“I don't accuse recklessly. If he does not steal he should not be afraid to show the contents of his bag,” Chika challenge.
“Sini!” Rahma pulled my backpack from my shoulder, but a hand blocked it.
“Gue already said, don't bother him anymore,” said Theo who came to defend me.
Rahma immediately brushed off her hand, aided by Nisa. “You will understand why we do not like this poor girl after seeing the original.” Nisa opened my bag and poured the contents onto the floor. My feelings were immediately uneasy because of that sentence.
