Home For My Soul
31|Yang Lost

I walked to the campus with quick steps. Because of daydreaming, I was almost late for college in the first hour. Though the Wibowo Family is not part of my life anymore, but I came to mind the words of Brother Jericho throughout the night.

“Lo really test my patience, yes?”

I stopped my steps hearing that voice. I raised my head and met the cold-faced Theo. What other mistakes did I make until I got that ugly face?

“When do I test your patience?” my question does not understand.

“Why do you have lunch alone with Richo? You forgot our deal?”

“I do not want to serve this childish attitude of yours.” I walked past him, but I was forced to stop because he was holding my hand.

“Gue is just trying to protect you. Just hang. Everything I say will prove true. I will not help you if it has happened later,” he said so sure.

He took my hand to the lecture hall, not giving me a chance to respond. How did he know I was with my brother yesterday? Is he following me? Or maybe there's someone he pays to follow me wherever I go?

There is no way Big Brother would tell him about our meeting. I look around us. Then most likely, he told people to spy on me. But I never felt anyone was watching me. After all, why would he waste money to pay such an expensive person?

As soon as we arrived at the door, he let go of my hand and walked towards his lecture hall. What a strange young man. He was only angry for a moment, drove me into the room, then just left. What does this strange act mean?

Another student standing near me looked at me with a cynical look. I returned their gazes, undaunted at all with that envious look. Some continued their steps, others entered his lecture hall, while the rest remained standing in place to chat with his group mates.

Sonata called my name, caught my attention. He had already sat in the front row and left the seat by the window empty. I smiled and sat by her side. It was not the time to think of Theo and his strange attitude. I need to concentrate on college.

“Lo?” sonata said frantically, busy fiddling with his laptop. “I'm sure the file still exists yesterday. Why don't I find it anywhere?”

“What file?” tanyaku.

“Our task,” answered him with a flushed face. “Today is already Friday, we will not be able to work on it again from the beginning. I don't keep it anywhere other than here.”

I looked at the girl carefully. The red face with water pooling in his eye pelup is proof he's not playing a show. Moreover, his hands to the point of trembling typing whatever in the keyboard. Our task file is completely missing from his laptop. But I didn't touch that thing, so he's the only one.

If it wasn't him, who would have deleted the important documents from his laptop? It was just him and me as long as we were working on the group's errands. We had a discussion in the library and .. ah, I understand. I know who did this to us.

“Sonata, I recorded every word on that task, so just like this. You retyped in half, while the rest of the page I did. Hows it? We just put the task together on Monday before it is collected,” I said suggesting.

“You recorded everything?” tanyanya expectantly. “Really?”

“Iya.” I smiled, then picked up the notebook I meant. “You complete the first five pages, then immediately tell you where. I'll continue the rest tomorrow.”

“How do you proceed? You don't have a laptop,” he said in wonder.

It's a problem whose solution is easy. “I'll type it in rental. As long as I use the settings required by the lecturer, then the results will be like coming from the same file,” I replied, calming him down.

“Good. Thank you for saving our duty, Amarylis. I briefly forbid you to record this task, it turns out there is a point in case.” He let out a sigh of relief, then quickly wiped away the tears that had soaked his cheeks.

Our problems are over, but I haven't calmed down until the culprit gets a lesson. I got bothered because our efforts to do the task before the weekend so in vain. We had to retype and my time to busking would be reduced due to this task.

Theo was already waiting at the gate, so I received a helmet from him and sat in the backseat without saying much. He turned to me for a moment before turning on his motorcycle engine and exiting our faculty yard.

“What bad thing happened today?” tanyanya wants to know.

“Only ordinary things I can handle,” I replied casually.

“What's up?” his insistence.

“I told you—”.

“What's up? And don't let me repeat the same question,” snapped.

I looked at him with annoyance. “We have group assignments from lecturers. My friend and I had it all sorted out, but she just found out it was erased from her laptop. I hate having to go to the rental place on weekends,” lamented.

All of those places must be crowded with students who are also doing assignments. Not to mention competing with students who are compiling thesis. I could not have gotten a place that still had idle computers. Missing is already a chance to get a million from busking this weekend.

“Why should you do your job at the rental place?” tanyanya's confused. He glanced at my bag. “Lo don't have a laptop?”

“Can pay for college money alone is grateful,” I said so.

He just looked back at me, then pulled out his book. Seeing her busy and not talking anymore, I did the same. His arrogance was extremely irritating, but the moment he was silent was even more troubling. Why is his reaction just that?

After lunch, we went back to college. He took my hand even though I had withdrawn from him. This attitude confused me. It was as if we were dating only on Mondays and Fridays, whereas we were strangers on Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Since he drove me to the lecture hall, then I couldn't do my plan. I had to wait until the last hour of college was over to meet the person who had made me difficult. This is why I don't want to be friends with them anymore.

“Akh!” The woman let out a choking sound as I pulled her into the empty room by clutching her neck.

“What is my sentence still unclear to you?” ask me with a stifled voice. “We're not friends and I don't want you to be close to me anymore.”

I saw his face flushed, but I was not satisfied. Sports did make my stamina so good that I was not just fat, but also powerful. Only one I still need to train, my movements are slow.

“What you did yesterday is so outrageous, Rahma.” I growled in annoyance. “How dare you make my best friend almost cry because of you. So, listen to me. Admit what you did and apologize to him. Do you understand?”

He just looked at me with enlarged eyes. I let him go so I could breathe again. He let out a long sigh until he coughed, but I was not touched to see him. He deserved to experience it after making an innocent person have a hard time.

“What are you talking about? I don't understand,” he said kink.

“You deleted our task file.” I am kind enough to answer that question.

He frowned, still not understanding. “Deleting task file? You mean, the one you were working in the library all afternoon? Amarylis, I didn't touch his laptop. Is he the one who accused me recklessly?”

“He doesn't need to say it. I know you did it, because only you were there with us. Even though I've kicked out, you don't want to go.” I raised both my eyebrows. “So, this is why you don't want to go? You want to fuck me again?”

“I am near you, but what is the proof that I deleted the document? Can you show me that I did it?” challenge him with courage.

“All things about you, Chika, and Nisa don't need proof, Rahma. I know you did it,” reply me seriously.

“Amarilis, you are too naive. It seems like without us, you can no longer think sharply.” He smiled mockingly. “He who has a laptop, he also complains that your tasks are deleted. Then what's your reason for not making him the prime suspect?”
