Theo came in on Saturday morning, but Mama didn't want to move rooms. He tells his son to sleep with Antonio and Buddy. Although my husband protested loudly, he lost to his mother. For the first time since we were married, we did not sleep one room while in the same city. Even while on the move, Mama still hogs me.
“Come, wake up, darling.” I feel someone patting my arm.
I opened my eyes and saw that the room light was on. “What's up, Ma? I'm sleepy.”
“I know, but you have to get up. We must not miss this golden opportunity.” My mother lifted my blanket and helped me to sit down.
He told me to take a potluck shower and put on the clothes he had prepared. I stared at the beach dress in surprise. Theo and everyone were waiting in the lobby, so we went out. Three cars were waiting to drive us somewhere.
Mom gave me a box of food. Thank goodness I was hungry. We arrived before I finished all the food. But Mama didn't press me, just asked me to get out of the car and sit on the beach chair they had provided.
That's a good idea. I could hear the sound of water, but I could not see the beach because it was still pitch dark. Are they waiting for the sun to rise? Theo looked at me with concern. I shook my head slowly. As long as I can't see anything, I'll be fine.
After my hair was neatly laid out and my face was a little self-sufficient, Mama led me to the place that had been prepared. A photographer and his partner are ready to do their job. Ah, I got it. I happily posed and followed the photographer's instructions.
“What are we doing here?” theo asked confusedly as we took a break. They wait for the sun to rise for the right view.
“Then you don't know?” godaku's.
“He's male. Which they understand what is the point of doing things that will not give this profit.” Mom gave me a glass of water.
“All men are the same, yes,” said Mother who gave water to Theo.
“If Mama and Mommy's work only makes my wife fight me, you should never get near him again,” threatened Theo. Both of our mothers were laughing.
“It's time!” meghan, who was near the photographer, noticed the atmosphere of the sky.
“Ah, sun will rise!” Mother looked up at the sky.
They took us to a suitable place, then asked us to get ready. I saw Theo was still worried, then I smiled at him. Just briefly. I'll be fine near the beach.
I tried to stay calm, catch my breath as best I could, even though my heart was already starting to pound faster than usual. As soon as the atmosphere around us was bright, Theo closed my eyes with his palm.
“Do not open your eyes until I say we are already in a safe place.” Suddenly my body was lifted up. I returned the kiss when his lips touched mine. How could I not fall more and more in love with this understanding husband?
“What's up? Is he exhausted?” ask Mama with a worried tone.
“No, Ma. I just want romantic-romantic,” he replied. I'm laughing a little. Our three mamas laughed.
We used that Sunday to take pictures in beautiful places in Bali. It's a pity we were at Labuan Bajo on weekdays, so Theo wasn't with us. But I am happy to be able to do it in Raja Ampat. The location of the tourist object is no less beautiful.
The next thing that is complicated is to choose a photo that matches among the good ones. We let the mothers choose. That will catch them. So, I can focus on my three honored guests. Antonio and Meghan took us for a walk around the hotel grounds.
“I am so grateful to you for introducing me to Antonio,” Meghan said with a happy face to me. “He helped me a lot to become a good leader candidate.” He smiled meaningfully at the man.
“You are a smart student and willing to learn. All that is not because of my services,” said Antonio, low. “People like you are very rare. Young people today prefer instant things rather than learning slowly from scratch to achieve success.”
“Thank you, Teacher,” tease Meghan. We laughed when we heard it.
“Clara demanded maximum punishment. Did your father think what he would do when his daughter was free?” ask Antonio. We sat on one of the chairs available in the park.
“Everything depends on shareholders. If they still want to accept him, then Clara will be the CEO to replace my father. If they don't want to, I have to be ready if I'm appointed,” Meghan replied.
Meghan was quiet for a long time. That's a hard question to answer. Had Clara not made that big mistake, none of this would have happened. Instead of thanking Papa for letting him go, he intended to serve him in front of all of us. Stupid woman.
“Before it is too late, you should think carefully about your relationship with the man. Long distance marriage is too heavy to live.” Antonio rubbed Meghan's head.
I looked towards Theo. He was busy with his gadget. I can't imagine being away from her after being her wife. Parting for a few days while I was on vacation with my three friends, I already felt uneasy. What if we were separated?
Meghan continued the flight to Medan with Mother, while we returned home. He was already impatient to meet with Brother Nolan. My two mama worked together to continue all preparations. All three of my guests agreed to stay a week longer to attend our big event. I was pounding impatiently.
“You can too, Ruth.” Mama stared at my reflection in the mirror full of days. “ Her stomach is not yet big, so she fits perfectly in this dress.”
“That's one of the reasons I don't want to put it off.” Mama Theo smiled at me, then turned to look at the boutique employees who were serving us. “The dress is fitting, thank you. Please wrapped.”
“Good, Mom. Please wait at the cashier.” The woman took me back to the dressing room.
After putting on my clothes, I joined my two mamas. Mama Theo paid for everything. Theo had left his card to me, but lost arguing with his mother. I gave up and thanked him for his kindness.
“This was my idea, then I bear all the cost. I won't let you guys spend a dime.” Mama held my chin in an agony. “Are you hungry?”
“Very,” answered me and my mother simultaneously. We looked at each other, then laughed together.
We had lunch at one of the restaurants that served the menu. Like Theo, Mama only allowed me to eat food that was safe for my womb. If you want to be safe, eat at home. But I obeyed and did not dispute his orders.
Mama Theo opened her notes and checked out what else we hadn't done. Invitations, clothing, family uniforms, catering, venues, and other details can be checked. We've already completed nearly seventy-five percent of the things on the list.
“The rest will be completed by event organizer.” Mama Theo put the book in her bag. He smiled at me, then took my hand. “I'm so happy, Amaryllis! Are you happy too? I can't wait for this weekend!”
“Of course I'm happy, Ma! My heart doesn't stop pounding,” me.
“If your heart stops pounding, it's just a sign of danger,” my mama joked. We laughed together. “Amarilis should not come with us on Friday. He needs rest so as not to get tired on his happy day.”
“It should. We just need him today. Starting tomorrow, he can be at home only.” Mama Theo nodded in agreement. “Ah, our food has come.”
The waiter serves our ordered food on the table. After mama Theo led the meal prayer, we did not wait any longer to eat it. Mother and Mama took turns to give advice so that me and Theo could have a happy marriage. Topics I like.
They had been married for a long time, faced many things with their husbands, but survived. Unlike most other marriages, it ends in trouble. I know a little about the problems my father and mother faced, although not as well as I saw myself at the marriage of Father and Mother.
“Oh, look! Baby equipment photos!” exciting mom Theo. He pulled my hand and Mama went with him to enter the store. “Is it time we buy this?”
“Too fast, Ruth. We'd better wait until the third trimester,” my mother's advice. “But there is no harm in us looking around.” He touched a baby shoe from wool.
“It's a big temptation, Ma. We better not stay here long,” I said objection.
“You so tempted to buy it, ‘kan?” Mama Theo blinked one eye. I put on a face. They both laughed.
Satisfied to look around and touch the attention-grabbing item, we walked out of the place. There will be time to prepare all the equipment of the little one. We have not yet determined which room will be the room later. Because we wait until everything is certain.
Feeling that someone was following us, I looked back. No one I know is walking behind me. Bizarrely. Am I overreacting? We headed for the escalator, not wanting to wait too long in front of the elevator.
Me and Mama Theo stepped on the escalator first, and then my mama followed behind us. The feeling came back. The Roman fur behind my neck seemed to stand up justifying my bad feeling. Who's following us?
“Amarilis,” scream my mama with a frightened voice, “awas, Nak!”
