Everyone went back to their favorite seats. Of course the most targeted line is the very back. Only a few seats in the front row were filled, most of them empty. Favorite places.
Since they did not occupy it, then I chose the one that was close to the window. So, there was no student sitting behind me whose vision would be blocked by my large body. Thank goodness one problem is over. I can calmly continue my studies.
As soon as the second lecturer came out, I followed him towards the door. If in the morning I avoid the three girls, then by lunchtime, I avoid Theo. No matter the one-sided deal, I'm not her boyfriend.
“Aw!” I complained when my hand was pulled as it passed through a room.
My body was pushed in, then the door behind me closed. I turned my head and saw Rahma and Nisa standing in the way of the door. Right, ‘kan? They still can't let go of me related to Katelia's violin.
I turned around, knowing that he was standing behind me. Chika looked at me with both of her eyebrows raised high. “You want to avoid until when?” tanyakanya.
Don't look him in the eye, keep your head down, and talk as necessary. I chanted that mantra over and over again in my head, remembering how Amarylis used to behave whenever me and these three girls bothered her first.
“Great also you, yes. After Theo, Brother Jericho was on your side,” he said while clucking like a pedicab. “What did you complain to Brother Jericho? Huh huh? He advised us not to bother you anymore. Answer!”
“I'm not complaining,” I replied slowly.
What did that stupid brother discuss with them? He said, I have to be careful that people don't get suspicious. Then what's he doing this for? Why did he even come to advise these three naughty girls? His relationship with Amaryllis was never close.
“Do not think we forgot about the Kat violin you have,” he said, alluding to the topic of our conversation on Monday. “How can the violin be on you?”
“Kak Jericho gave it,” I answered honestly.
“Hah! Impossible.” He glanced at the door, then back at me. “You mean, Brother Jericho likes you so he gives his sister's relics to you?”
Oh. It means looking at the door. Who among his two friends likes Big Brother? Attractively. He assesses Theo, while his friend there secretly hopes for Brother Jericho. Revenge is easy.
If Chika knew me and Theo were dating, she would be heartbroken. Then my closeness with Big Brother will make his friend bite a finger. Once clutching the oar, two three islands were surpassed. It seems I don't have to wait until work and have the money to hurt them.
“Not so—” I said, trying to explain.
“Not so, isn't that what? Where is anyone willing to give a gift to his own sister's killer!” chika said fiercely. “Jawab by honestly!”
“Chika, I still hold your secret,” I said, forced to use my secret weapon.
“I'm not afraid. I can tell Aunt Wibowo about Kat's violin that's on you. He must be happy because he finally found a way to throw you in jail,” he said boldly. “Do you not know you can get a layered chapter?”
“I said honestly. Brother Jericho gave me the violin,”.
“Halah! Don't lie to you. That's impossible,” he said in disbelief.
“What about your ability to play the violin? How can you play that well?” ask Rahma from behind me.
“I have long learned to play the violin,” I replied again honestly.
“Don't lie to you!” Chika pushed one of my shoulders hard. “Poor women have money from where to pay for violin lessons?”
The door suddenly opened from outside. Rahma and Nisa are pushed forward by it. Theo stood in the doorway with a dislike face. He swept his gaze at the three girls before looking at me.
“When did you change? I'm tired of saying don't bother him anymore. This is the last one or I will make a calculation with the three of you,” he said with annoyance.
“What's wrong with you? Ever since we were in school, you've always stood up for him. What's so special about him that you bother like this? Don't you feel people like him are just ruining the atmosphere of our campus?” chika was no less angry.
“If he can choose, he also doesn't want to be the one you can keep running.” Theo took my hand. “Extapose again. This is the last one. You guys do this again, you'll regret.”
“Because everything you have is not on him,” he replied briefly.
Jleb. I turned towards Chika whose face paled. The poor girl. I could hear the sound of her broken heart breaking apart. Promises will change, still bother me. Theo might be interested in him if he's being nice.
They come from a wealthy family with a father who is both a successful businessman. So, their marriage will benefit both parties. I'm in Amarilis's body this isn't a rival she needs to worry about. Our relationship will never be broken.
Theo did not let go of my hand as we passed by the students who set their sights on us. The real attention I liked so much that I had trouble pretending to be contented with all the eyeballs that were on me.
“Why are you silent every time they bother you? Your body is bigger than them.” He gave me his helmet.
“They are three,” I replied, who knows he didn't see the difference in our numbers.
“Stay only your power is much greater than them.” He put on his helmet, then sat in the seat of his motorcycle. “You just lack confidence in yourself.”
I managed not to get hooked on that challenge. He and Jericho are very different. One told me to fight, the other to hold back. I can get dizzy on my own. But Theo has a point. If I keep quiet, they'll keep bothering me. Then what use am I to fight if only to be trampled again?
If they're still talking about the violin, then I'll tell their families about their worst secrets. Having just one enemy was already heavy, let alone three. If they suspect something about me, they can say it straight away. Don't do this.
“How about your lecture? Is there anything I can help you with?” ask her when the waiter left after taking down our order.
“Nothing. Everything is fine,” I replied as decently as possible.
He took out a few books from his bag, then shifted them towards me. “This is the book you will need during semester two. The rest I'll give you tonight. If there's anything else you need, let me know. O, yes.”
He took something out of his bag and gave it to me. “This is some scholarship info, including the one provided by papaku. You choose the one whose offer is most attractive. Do not apply for merit scholarships provided by the campus. You won't like it.”
“Why did you say that?” many wonder. The scholarship was one of the sources of funds that I had put on the list to apply for.
“Trust. What I give you is much more interesting.” He looked towards the brochure I was holding. “I've sorted out, all of them are famous for being honest and keeping the promise of providing the scholarships they program. Most interestingly, there is a possibility that you were appointed as an employee.”
That's the news I want to hear. I put all those brochures in the bag. I'd better check in the room later. I don't want to discuss anything with him. Especially if he determines which scholarship I should choose.
Finished teaching Matt, that night Theo drove me home. He kept his promise by giving me the rest of the college books I would need during the second semester. He urged to be allowed into the room, I refused. My brother I don't accept, let alone him.
Looking at those two piles of books, I could only sigh long. I have to be careful when I return it later. Don't let Theo's book be confused with Brother's. With the lecture material, then I can learn more freely.
That weekend I worked all morning until night, then rested at night. Being able to be free from Brother and Theo for two days is no good either. I had to have lunch with my own money. To take my lunch ration at the stall, I had to go back to my residence, losing at the fare.
But the money I got from the busking results was quite a lot, so I did not completely lose having to buy my own food. Just choose the cheapest and filling. I miss playing at the big show again. The pay is very much.
“I'm tired of having to ask the same thing over and over again.” Chika came from in front of me with her two friends.
I was no longer afraid of peering through the corridors to avoid them. There are only five people on this campus who know Amarylis and Katelia. If I let these three girls insult me as they please, then the other students will continue to look down on me as well.
I've been under suspicion since Chika accused me of taking her purse. Some of my class mates used the opportunity to try to blackmail me. Although poor, Mama taught me to work hard for sustenance, not stealing.
“Follow me,” take me to the corner of the corridor near the stairs.
Whether they follow me or not, I walk first. Hearing the footsteps of their shoes, I knew they were obeying my request. Once they got close to me, then I moved as fast as I could towards Chika, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her against the wall.
The poor woman was unprepared so she became an easy target. Hearing a surprised breath from behind me, I smiled. My whole body was immediately on alert. Hm. I like this sensation. Three to one is easy.
“Hai, Chik,” my broom, half whisper. Chika stopped revolting, then her eyes rounded. “I've seen enough of you to feel like my top boss.”
