Home For My Soul
162|Facing Old People

Theo let go of his embrace, but one of his hands remained on my shoulder. He turned his head towards the two people standing in front of us, then looked at me questioningly. Of course he doesn't know her. It seems, we can't cover up his illness from others any longer.

The woman laughed in surprise while crossing both hands in front of her chest. “Did I not see wrong? You guys back together?” taunted. “Is Aunt Ruth not angry to see you two together here? Oh. Do you intend to elope?”

“Married run?” I purposely wiped the bangs with my right hand, showing off my simple wedding ring on my ring finger.

They took surprised breaths. “Ka-you are married?” tanyanya.

“Why are you surprised so?” I put on an innocent face. “Don't you know we love each other for a long time? What about you guys? Are you dating or taking a business trip together?” There was no ring on their fingers, so they were not married.

The woman wrapped her hand on the man's arm. “It just so happens that we meet here. Give them an invitation, dear.” The man complied by taking out a thick and fragrant invitation from the bag he was holding.

“Wow, Chika. You guys getting married?” I was surprised, seeing their friendly photo on the cover. “You really are a suitable pair. I hope you don't do evil anymore.” I glanced at her future husband. “May you be happy, Mr. Norman.”

We heard our flight number. “Ah, that's our plane. Come, honey. Don't let us miss the flight because of them.” They also took the same flight. What an incredible coincidence.

I shook my head slowly watching them go near the queue. Chika and Mr. Norman. Justjust wonderful. Their wedding is on Saturday. Our arrival to Medan was very timely, although I did not expect this to be the way we met again. But why did they get married in Medan, not in Jakarta?

Theo asked who the two people were, so I told him. I forgot about myself as Katelia and focused on telling Chika from the side of Amarylis. I don't want to burden her with the shocking thing about Katelya's soul in Amarylis's body. He could have a headache.

After the queue was reduced, we entered the aircraft cabin. Chika and Mr. Norman must have been sitting in business class, so we are grateful that there was no need to meet them. We sat in economy class and entered through the back door.

We don't have any income yet, so we need to save with every expense. Theo's savings were almost drained, whereas I didn't have much savings. He looked at me sadly, but I smiled at him. Sitting in economy class is not that bad.

Arriving at Kualanamu Airport, we do not need to take baggage. We only carried a small suitcase filled with our clothes for a few days. I smiled as I waved at Mother and Mama who were waiting for us outside the arrival terminal.

“Child of durhaka.” She hugged me, and then let Mama do the same. “You make no difference either. How dare you deceive us,” Mother told Theo.

“Who cheated Mother?” I said, defend yourself.

“Then what is this?” He raised my right hand and Theo. “You dare to marry secretly!”

“Already, darling. We can scold them later,” Daddy's wounds. He smiled, then hugged me tightly. “My daughter is home safely. That's enough.”

“Thank you, Dad,” as I was happy.

“Healthy, Son?” It was Papa's turn to embrace me.

“Healthy, Pa,” I replied while returning his embrace.

“Come, we're home. They must be hungry,” take Dad.

An hour later, we arrived at Katelia's house. Theo looked around him carefully. We let him explore the front room and pay attention to every photo on the wall or sideboard. My parents and I headed to the sitting room and enjoyed a snack.

I told her honestly about our relationship in America. Mother asked me to swear not to give my body to her before we officially got married. I obey. Then he was satisfied and moved to know I was married to my soul mate.

Mother's right. Me and Theo have been set by both families to get married since we were so young. Although I was no longer Katelia physically, our paths always met until we finally got married. All this because of Theo's recklessness that brought me backstreet.

“Our problem is not finished, Mother. Theo's parents don't approve of our relationship,”.

The four of them exchanged looks. “We can help,” Dad said.

“Not now, Father.” I looked towards the door. “We must wait until Theo recovers. He could fall ill if he knew the truth.”

“True also.” Dad rubbed his chin. “Did he remember something so far?”

“She started to remember the last incident she had and some minor events. He started to believe his name was Theo.”

“How is his memory of you? Does he treat you well?”

“He treated me well, Father.”

“Good. Because if he doesn't, he'll be battered. He dared to marry a girl but did not ask permission first. Does he disrespect us as your parents?”

“Your father's right. He made a big mistake by asking you to elope without our blessing. But considering he was amnesic, I tried to tolerate his actions. He must be confused and not understand with all the alarms on his phone. Even though he remains wrong.” Papa looked at me seriously. All three of my parents agreed.

Thankfully, I did the right thing by telling them about it before we came. I can't imagine what would happen to Theo if Dad or Papa slapped, even punched him in the face. Just thinking about it made my cheeks ache.

The door of the room was knocked, we looked. Theo opened it, then entered politely. I shifted so she could sit by my side. All four of my parents were watching him. He just calmed down, not looking intimidated by the attitude of all those adults.

“I'm sorry to hear the conversation of papa and mama all from behind the door. I don't know when the time is right to enter,” he said politely. “I'm also sorry for marrying your daughter without permission. When I have to be punished, I am ready to accept the consequences.”

“When are you getting married officially religiously?” ask Dad without further ado.

“My parents have not given my blessing,” replied Theo slowly. “I could have asked Papa's sister to be my guardian in her place, but I felt it was unethical.”

Dad raised his eyebrows high. “Ooo-be. Asking your uncle to be your guardian is unethical, but marrying my daughter without permission is natural. Unique is also your way of thinking.”

“I'm really sorry.” Theo lowered his head.

“Dad, this isn't just Theo's fault. I was also wrong not to tell the family about our wedding plans there.” I defended my husband. “Dad don't upset him only.”

Mother laughed a little. “Tuh, darling. Can you be angry to see your daughter defending her husband?” goda. The door is knocked, then opened. A servant came in, then nodded towards Mother. “Yes, already, we all must be hungry. The food is ready. Come on, let's go to the dining room now.”

We enjoyed the meal while chatting in a relaxed manner. They asked us about our residence and our plans going forward. Because Theo prefers silence, I answer. If a certain question is asked of him, he will speak.

After lunch, the men gathered in Dad's study, while me and my mama sat on the side porch. I smiled to see the flower plants were blooming beautifully and manicured. The hand of the gardener, but Mother sometimes do it herself.

“I'm really angry with your actions, Kat,” said Mommy with a disappointed face.

“Mother,” I said in a persuasive tone.

“I know the young man his handsome is exorbitant, but you are not an easy woman to blind with a male outer appearance.” Mother gave me a piece of Bronis. I returned with my sweetest smile. “Hey, what is this?” Mother held my chin.

“Lo? Amarylis, where do you get money from?” mama asked, looking at my mouth.

“You've been taking care of your teeth there?” Mother looked at me in disbelief.

“Good, yes, Mother? Ma?” I smiled proudly. “Theo that precedes the payment. I will repay the cost until paid off after work later.”

“I'm really mad until I don't see you're so pretty now.” Mom looked at me with haru.

“All mothers must say her daughter is beautiful,” my god.

“If anyone says you're ugly, he's just a shingle.” Mama caressed my cheek. “Do you also still wear cream from the doctor?”

“Iya, Mother. Thanks for your help both.”

“I didn't spend a dime. These are all your bundamu.” services Mama blushed.

“Then,” Mother turned serious, “what have you done?”

My face is heating up, understanding the point. “I don't want to discuss this.”

Mom and Mom exchanged a glance. “They have done it,” concluded Mama while holding an amused smile.

Mother's eyes glazed. “I can not expect from your two brothers who are still single, but I will be very happy if you guys soon have a baby. Moreover, your husband is a person who comes from a distinguished family.”

“Mother, why cry?” many confused. My mom was also surprised to see his attitude.

“Because I'm happy.” Mother held my hand. “Things that I thought would never happen, instead you get this way.”

“What are you talking about?” asked Mama not to understand.

“Kat often asks why we did not announce his engagement with Theo, I do not know how to answer it.” Mother lowered her head. “Actually, we are preparing to end their matchmaking. There is a problem that we can not find the solution.”
