Home For My Soul
44|Little Attention

I wanted to eat meatballs, so I called the name of the food. He rode his motorcycle towards the cafe selling the cuisine as their main menu. I ordered meatballs, he's chicken noodles. Pretty good, I can pluck the part too later.

Although he is cold and unpredictable, for sharing, he is not stingy. He just relaxes every time I scoop food out of his plate or bowl. It seemed like he was not the overly sterile type of rich guy whose all belonged to him should not be touched by anyone else. Similar to Jericho.

After eating, I went to the toilet for a moment to change pads. So, I don't need to get out of the lecture hall when the lecturer teaches later. Theo watched me closely as I returned to our table. I don't know what he's looking for in my face.

“You seem to be healthy,” he said slowly.

“Of course. I just limp for a while after the moon comes. As soon as I rest, then everything will be fine. Therefore, I said don't worry,” I said casually. I didn't want him to worry too much, so I decided to be honest.

“I've paid for our food. Come on, let's go back to campus,” take him. I comply.

So, that's why he came this morning to pick me up at my place of residence? He should have done that unusual thing. Turns out he thinks I'm still as limp as I was the night before. Hm. This annoying guy can be attentive too.

I was not surprised anymore as he held my hand towards my lecture hall. Just-there's. Does he think I'm that fragile? He had seen for himself that I could take down those two Chika bodyguards who were big and powerful, I was not a weak woman.

In the afternoon, I taught Matt without incident. He did not prepare any fad, nor was it too late to take lessons. But he asked me to finish our lesson ahead of schedule. I initially refused, but was forced to grant it later.

“Horeee!!” cheers happy. He held my hand. “Come, we go upstairs!”

“To top?” I was confused, but I didn't hold him back to take me up the stairs. “Matt, slow down.”

Even though I am diligent in exercising, climbing the stairs is still a heavy thing for me. He turned left as soon as we arrived on the second floor. There are so many doors with far distances. This seems to be especially for the bedroom. Which one's Theo's room?

“Nah, this is for Sister.” Matt opened the first door on the left, then gave me a violin bag. “Come, grab.”

“Why did you give this to me?” many confused.

“Kakak needs a violin to play with me,” he said casually. He was sitting on a chair in front of the big piano that took up a lot of that place.

I opened my mouth to see it. He's got a piano this big at home? I touched the piano and felt its smooth surface as well as free from dust. Their servants would clean it every day.

“Kakak can play the piano too?” tanyanya wants to know.

I nodded slowly. He squinted his eyes, not believing my words. So I sat by his side and played a song with both hands. Just a few initial tones of Beethoven's “Fur Elise”.

“Continue,” said. “Gue play left hand, Brother right.”

I obeyed him and made a mistake several times, because I had forgotten the note. He gave a solution by taking a book and opening the page where the full note “Fur Elise” is located. We started again from the beginning to finish well.

“OK. It's just a warm-up.” He glanced towards the violin box earlier. “Come, I want to play another song last night with Brother.”

“Who would you like to show off to? The girl you're dating?” godaku's.

He's laughing a little. “Not. Later also Brother knows. Try not to make mistakes, yes.”

“I don't memorize all the notes. How can I play if no one helps turn the pages of his book?” my lament.

“Then, we play two pages, then pause to switch to the next page,” he said, suggesting. He seems to want to play this song right now.

We played the song from start to finish with a pause each time the notebook had to be replaced. I only memorized two pages of notes, because this song is not my favorite song while busking. People appreciate classical songs less, so I play more contemporary songs.

But the song sounds just as interesting as the break. The level of difficulty is also not reduced even though we had a break for a while, it is increasing. There was applause from behind me as we finished the final note.

“Mama can demean others, but not with my orchestra,” said Matt, lifting his chin. “Our pride can fall if we perform using the recording.”

I looked at the two of them in turn in confusion. Whatdoes thatmean? Did Aunt Ruth think my performance on that night wasn't original but using footage? Ah, now I understand why Matt was so excited to play that song with me.

He wanted to prove to his mother that I was actually playing the song on my own, not the recording. It's only natural that Aunt Ruth is suspicious. He never saw me touch, let alone play the violin. Plus, “Moonlight Sonata” is a tough song.

“OK. I agree with your proposal. Amarylis will be duetting with you at our wedding celebration on Saturday,” Aunt Ruth said enthusiastically. Whahuh?

“Ng, but, Auntie,” said I objected.

“No but, Brother. I forced Brother to perform together on Saturday. Whoever Big Brother's girlfriend is, she has to relinquish not a weekly night on that day.” Matt put his arm around my shoulder, then walked me out of the room with him.

We talked about the details of the event over dinner. Theo did not look surprised, it seems he also knew the plan of his mother and sister to invite me to perform at his family event. I was happy to get an extra job, but I was in a dilemma thinking about the bonuses that would be given.

They helped me a lot, gave me things I didn't ask for. So, I feel bad if I have to be paid just to entertain on their big day. But Aunt and Matt simultaneously said I would not play for free.

“It is better that you do not oppose them, because you have definitely lost,” Theo said, breaking up.

I also gave up. Matt gave me a list of songs I needed to learn. The violin he gave me was mine. I refused, but he insisted. Though I already have my own violin that is not less good. Having more than one is useless, because I can only wear one and save the other. The waste I only realized when I was poor.

“Lo really don't remember, yes, today what day?” asked Theo with an annoyed face. We just arrived in front of my house.

“Day Monday,” I said confused. “What's special?”

He sighed loudly, seemingly trying to control his emotions. “Today we even dated for one month. That time you forgot?”

Ooo. So, that's why he picked me up this morning and spent some time outside of college with me. Because today we've had a month of strange relationships, not because I'm unwell. Just-there's. How do I know he didn't say. We act like best friends, nothing more.

“How can I remember? We don't feel like dating people,” taunts me. Before he could do anything, I ran into the yard of the house.

“Amarily! Watch out, yes!” annoyed screams.

The rehearsal with Matt began the next day. I came home on time as usual, only tutoring was reduced by half an hour so we could train together. They believe in my abilities, even when I make mistakes repeatedly.

Om and Aunt Husada really liked the classics, so they gave a list of songs they wanted to hear during the event. I won't have a companion while playing the violin, so every note of that song should be able to be memorized properly.

Lunch with Sonata and Kak Jericho just passed, because my head was filled with notes for the classical song. I really like classical songs, but this untrained Amarylis brain is different in quality to Katelia's. He gets tired easily.

“Waahh!! You are so beautiful!” praise Aunt Ruth when I'm done getting dressed by the makeup artist she invited to her house. “I didn't choose the wrong dress. This shirt suits you!”

He invited me out of the room to the front door. The men were waiting patiently in the car. Aunt Ruth was with Om Azarya, and I was in a car with Matt and Theo. My disciple praised my appearance, while his brother pouted.

There were so many people filling the hotel garden that I was suddenly nervous. Even though I don't know them other than Theo's family, I'm still not calm waiting for my performance with Matt. The big piano was already at the front near the small stage.

“Lo nothing?” ask Theo. I looked and shook slowly. “Lo face is very pale. I'm sure you'll pass out in a minute. Lo can still retreat.”

“I won't back down,” I said firmly.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. I turned my face to see Theo's mischievous smile. But seeing the figure that was among the guests who had just arrived, all the notes I had memorized suddenly disappeared from my memory.
