135|Money Again

Theo behaved as usual the next day. We had a long argument about her plan to get married secretly the previous day. I admire his confidence, but he could have miscalculated.

Papa and his mother have decades more experience than him regarding marriage. Although we can make out here, away from the suspicious attitude of his parents, they will kiss our relationship, sooner or later.

Why is Aunt Ruth so quick to match her son again with another woman? What is he afraid of? If he's so sure our relationship won't get to the bottom of it, then why is he acting this way? Did he also know that Theo would never change his mind?

“Gue go.” Theo kissed my lips. “Lo will see a doctor today?” I'm nodding. He kissed me longer and deeper, as he did when he got home from the hotel.

“Theo.” I pushed his body. “You can be late.”

“I'm the boss. Who's gonna scold me?” She smiles. Things I rarely see on her lips lately. He kissed me again, so I did not refuse.

He did not want to answer about the results of the meeting or the conversation with his parents. I could have gotten that information from Matt, but I felt like I was taking advantage of our closeness when I did that.

I also wondered how she and the woman interacted during the two days at the hotel. But he wouldn't answer my question either. Every time he talked about things related to his parents and fiancee, he kept his mouth shut.

Meghan was already in the lecture hall when I arrived. We greeted each other, and then I sat down in my usual place. The room is still the same. People looked at me while whispering with a friend sitting by his side. Just like the situation in the corridor.

My best friend caught my attention by putting a bag of groceries on my desk. I looked at him in wonder. “By-by from Hawaii. Come, open.”

“Wow, Meghan. You should not have to bother.” I opened the bag with a sigh of relief.

“I don't bother. My friend is just you, so why don't I bring something? Calm. I bought an item that won't be taxable when you get home later.” She smiled sweetly.

There is a cute pineapple doll with the inscription I Love Hawaii on her chest. Then there's a T-shirt with Hawaiian inscriptions and two big boxes of chocolate containing Macadamia nuts. I looked at him in disbelief. What he brought so much.

Midterm exams are in sight, so we focus on college. The holidays are over, so we have to be serious again with our studies. Robert now avoids me every time he crosses paths with me. Mike is no longer willing to get close, especially since losing his expensive car.

Hopefully the situation will continue to be peaceful like this. I would love to finish my studies without any problems outside of academic affairs. Nora is still calm, I don't know if she's not expecting Theo or waiting for the right time to act again.

“Your face is getting sparkling more and more. Are you wearing something?” ask Meghan when we will discuss the duties of the lecturer.

“Do not mock.” I laughed nervously. I was tempted to touch my cheek, but I knew I couldn't do it or I would get a pimple again. When did my face shine?

“I'm serious.” He approached to look at my face carefully. “Your pores are large, it's only natural that you have acne. Your face is healthier now. I'm going to see your doctor.”

“How do you know I saw a doctor?”

“Amarilis, did you forget your photo that Robert shared? I also have acne, but I can't escape the cream I wear. Looks like Clara accidentally took me to just any doctor.” He pouted while staring at his hand.

“Your own brother is evil to you?” many surprised.

“You don't know him yet. Although she was perfect with her beautiful blond hair and bright blue eyes, she always considered her closest person a rival. I was given his share of food when we were little which I thought he did because he was a good brother. Turns ...” He glanced at his body.

“Replace a dermatologist who has nothing to do with your brother. Then start meeting a nutritionist. If you have money, then taking care of yourself is not a problem for you.”

“True also.” He rubbed his chin, then nodded in understanding. “Thank you, Amarylis, but you haven't answered my question.”

We studied together for the final semester exam. The terrible specter of the thesis began to be felt. We already had a major research topic when applying for admission to campus, but that title could be changed if we found it more interesting to raise.

The air is starting to feel hot, a sign that spring is coming to an end. Meghan and her family are going on vacation to Europe making me jealous. Cold weather is more pleasant than hot. Remembering his kindness, I reminded him not to bring souvenirs.

At the time of the announcement of the academic results, we were equally satisfied with the results. Theo was really good at talking to my lecturer so my grades didn't fall. The scholarship is still in hand. I can also breathe with relief when paying for college for the next semester.

“You're lucky this time, but not next time.” Suddenly Nora was standing next to me.

“What's wrong with you? You guys were good friends at the beginning of college, why did you change your attitude and become mean to Amaryllis?” Meghan stood in front of me, protecting me from that woman.

“No need to be hypocritical, Meg. You approached him there was also another intention, ‘kan? Rich families like you want to be friends with ordinary people like us,” challenge Nora.

“The rich are my parents, not me,” Meghan replied. “Go. Don't bother my friend anymore. You are making my mood so bad.”

Nora looked at me cynically before turning around and leaving. The poor woman. What makes him so sure that by getting rid of me, then Theo will be interested in him? The man was complicated and could not read his mind. I just didn't manage to get him away from me, let alone a stranger who had nothing to do with him.

“Regarding his words earlier—” said Meghan trying to explain.

“No need,” cut me. “I know you have no evil intentions of being friends with me.”

“Not malicious intent, but I admit I do have other intentions of being your friend.” He was silent, then lowered his head. “Clara always gets everything. Always was. So, when I find out you have a close relationship with the man she's after, I want to support you.”

“Because you want Clara this time not to get the person she wants,” guess me.

He nodded slowly. “At first my goal was so, but everything changed. I am glad I have a sincere friend. You are different from the people I usually know. You don't take advantage of my surname or money.”

“Do not misunderstand, Meghan. I who look sincere in your eyes now, can turn ferocious if you mess with me.”

“I know. I saw the time you beat up Mike.” He laughed amusedly. “He does need to be taught a lesson. She looks like Clara who always thought everyone could easily get her.”

“We forget about them. Come on, I'm hungry.” I put my hand on his arm.

A long summer vacation arrived, but I still came to the library on campus to look for research materials. Meghan has already gone on vacation with her family, but she will be studying here after returning from Europe.

I didn't expect there to be so many students filling the study room. Not everyone uses the day off to relax. I'm not alone. That means I'm fighting over books to learn from. Realizing that, I arrived early the next day.

“Have the title for lo research?” Theo who had just returned from work came closer and without warning, kissed my lips. “Minum. Lips until dry so.”

“According to you, what topics are rarely discussed in our field?” aska I want to know.

He filled my glass with water, then sat in front of me. We talked for a moment about our materials. This is how nice it is to have a boyfriend in one department. I don't have to ask anyone else about my studies.

Something about his neck caught my attention. I reached out to check it out. My blood boils recognizing the spot. “Who found you there?”
